Booked an appointment with Dr Andrews on recommendation--got a prescription for a compound for my son's eczema. Healed his skin beautifully. Fast forward 6 yrs later and his eczema is flaring up. Called this office just to see if I could get the prescription re written. It was an emergency and I called to see if it were possible. The receptionist has this tone--like my questions were obvious or stupid. Not a good look We don't need negative energy. Dr Andrew was great but this gal that answered the phone needs some sunshine. 1. Horrible front desk clerk who act like they are above everyone. Barbara and Gayan are the most hostile persons and worst human beings that would probably drive the clinic out of business. They don't deserve to work in a children's clinic at all. All the other negative reviews about them here are true. 2. They forgot to administer a lab test for our baby daughter, which was required by the Public Health department. Both Public Health Department and our current pediatrician are confused and surprised by their practice. Because of this, our baby daughter had to get additional blood tests, meaning she has to go through two additional painful blood draws as an infant.. 3. If Public Health didn't call us, we wouldn't have known what's going on with our daughter. We would have thought everything was fine, and our daughter would have had health issues for the rest of her life. 4. Please don't go to this place. The doctors are decent people, but it's not worthwhile to deal with the office's lack of empathy and hostility. They don't care about kids or patients, and their own feelings are much more important than the kids' health. 5. Gayan said on the phone that she refused to talk to me and my husband when we were trying to figure out our daughter's health and lab results. 6. Unfortunately I have nothing good to say about this place anymore. The doctors, Dr Hochman and Dr Matthews I do really like. However their front office staff are horrible. My son has eczema and he's been diagnosed with it at children's hospital and in Dr Hochmans office yet they still give me grief (front office) every time I ask for a refill. It's eczema!! My son is in pain from itching and I'm having to wait because when I ask the pharmacy to send it oak park pediatrics never responds back. So I've decided to go to a different doctor, and they're now hounding me for a bill I owe ($150) when I've spent thousands at this place and after countless emails I've sent they still are NOT sending my kids medical records which I think is illegal. Once again doctors are not the problem here they are great and I'm sad to leave them, but they need to get a new receptionist(s). And it suck's I'm being neglected while I'm inbetween of switching doctors and still being with oak park pediatrics. I've referred a ton of people there and can no longer do that. read more

After the Doctor recommended giving my 15-month-old 5 shots at once, I asked where the peer reviewed journals citing evidence of that many vaccines per sitting was safe. She ignored my question and said, "I'm comfortable giving her 5. She could end up in the hospital if you chose not to..." oh and my favorite line of all -- "I don't get paid to administer vaccines." She proceeded to stroke my daughter's hair and shame us saying, "you don't want her to end up hospitalized? Vaccines prevent illness." This clinic is more about being transactional, and less about the kid's health. We orignally chose this clinic for our 3rd kid due to the proximity, only to find out the doctor doesn't know what tests need to be for children's chronic health conditons. We almost missed it and it would have been bad! Thankfully Public Health and our other pediatrician told us what to do in time! Worst, they have these two front desk staff - Barbara and Gayan who are aggressive. They are verbally abusive, refuse to listen, and they claim to know everything without regard to medical facts or specific requirements. Gayan even said she knows exactly what the Public Health Department requirements are and said she did everthing right even though she isn't the doctor. These two staff are the tumors of this clinic. They are the ones you have to get through in order to talk to or see the doctor, and they wouldn't pass along the right information to the doctors, and have only caused problems. I don't think the doctors have any idea about their issues, and I feel bad for the doctors to have two such toxic and incapable staff. read more

I typically base my decision of a doctor of the following items: 1) The doctor's knowledge/tenure 2) The cleanliness of the office 3) The belief system related to vaccinations 4) The front office staff's administrative skills 5) The overall 1st experience There you have the purpose for my five star review. Dr. Matthew: I am a mother of FOUR. All four of my children have been seeing Dr. Matthew for over 13+ years. Dr. Matthew was also the Pediatrician when my son was born at Los Robles. Dr. Matthew is a very tenured and wise doctor that has knowledge across MANY aspect of physical and mental health of a child. He also has tremendous experience in caring for children with Special Needs including those with Autism as my son is severally Autistic, legally blind, and has epileptic seizures. Dr. Matthew truly cares, he is a matter of fact gentlemen with professional bed side manners. He is informative, kind, willing to explain, provides options and alternatives. He is not a "go to prescription" doctor. He will not prescribe a medication just because you want one, he will do his job within the highest, most ethical, genuine and informative manner he trusts. Their Clean Office: Is always clean, it may not be the fancy office of Beverly Hills or Westlake but it is well maintained and very clean at all times. Vaccinations: Having a child with Autism and then having two more since my son's diagnosis, Dr. Matthew and Dr. Hochman understand my concern in a very big way. They are NOT anti-vacc'ers, they simply listen and keep their mind open to a parents' concern. Dr. Matthew always brings out a factual study for me to read that was recently featured in the New England Journal of Medicine. I love this! And, I love the fact that he cares deeply for our children. He remembers every patients name, asks about the extracurricular activities, inquires as to the importance of eating helping, playing sports, going to school, and most of all he remembers everything and will ask you five years later, how's your son??? And by then, they are already in college. The Office Staff: If someone says their staff is not nice or friendly or patient or understanding, then we are clearly talking about the wrong office. They accommodate in every way possible. They offer payment plans, they switch appts. at the last minute, they squeeze you in where they can. But most of all, when it's late at night and you have a deep concern due to your child's illness, you can beat the bank, you will get a call back in moments and be taken very serious as to your concern. You are always in good hands with Dr. M and/or Dr. H. Like Father Like Daughter! Fabulous front office team, lots of happy faces, smiles, and warm greetings. AND EXTREMELY ORGANIZED! The Overall Experience: You will never be discouraged. You will always be welcomed. Your child is just as important and Dr. H's children or Dr. M's grandchildren. I can't say enough great things about this office. We've seen all three doctors this year with my one year old, and all three are excellent- they are caring, patient and knowledgeable. We typically see Dr Hochman, and I feel so lucky that she's my daughter's pediatrician. Her bedside manner is unmatched and she takes time and care with each visit. I typically come with a lot of questions and she takes her time to answer them with such thoughtfulness. I can be overly anxious, and she calms my nerves every time, and she's always incredibly sweet to my daughter. We've had l wonderful experiences with the front desk, and all the nurses are great, but Gayane is absolutely amazing. She is incredibly kind and helpful, and goes above and beyond answering any questions I have and has great advice as a mother and nurse. read more

This review is long overdue as this happened in 2020. I will try to make this short. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC. They gave my son an unnecessary extra dose of vaccine. They did this in error because they 1. Did not ensure that his records from his previous doc was released to them. and 2. They weren't looking at the correct medical file during my son's visit. When I confronted staff about this, Joni was rude, condescending and blamed me. I still have her voicemail from a year ago where she admits they don't have my son's previous records and they want me to fill out a consent form DAYS after my son's appointment when they administered the extra vaccine dose. The doctors may be fine but I wouldn't gamble my child's health and safety over their staff's sheer neglect. read more

Dr. Hochman is without a doubt the best pediatrician my kids have ever gone to. After moving from LA to the local area we were recommended OP over and over and over again. For good reason: Dr. Hochman saved my son's life when he was overly treated at a prestigious LA hospital; she went out of her way to check on us and speak to the physicians that were caring for our son during his admission stay. I really don't know where my now thriving 4 year old would be if it wasn't for her. Her COVID response has been a breath of fresh air. She is never in a rush and cares for my kids as if they were her own. Truly, the most amazing pediatrician. The most caring and kind office and nurse staff. We love OPP! read more

Dr. Hochman and the nurses at Oak Park Pediatrics are amazing! We have twins and it can be stressful taking them in, however they are super accommodating and helpful every time. Dr. Hochman and Nurse Gayan are extremely helpful and take the time to explain every step of the boys development and what to expect. They both take much of the anxiety out of what I feel would be present if I did not get the care and answers they provide, such a relief. The waiting room and examination rooms are always clean and available for when I arrive. I feel so fortunate to have chosen Dr. Hochman as my kids pediatrician. read more

I love them so much I moved to philly and still kept them as my drs and now I'm back again.. they are caring and don't rush u out of the office they spend time with you. We love our pediatrician Dr. Tennanblatt. With 3 kids we've seen numerous pediatricians over the years for various things and she stands out as someone who is a wonderful listener, non-judgemental and very thorough. I'm very thankful for her each time I see her. She doesn't rush and is very clear in answering all of our questions. All 3 of our kiddos see her ranging from age 7 to infant (starting at newborn) and she's great with each one of them. She's a gem!! Now that my baby has been a patient of Dr. Hochman for 9 months, I can say with certainty that Dr. Hochman is the gold standard when it comes to pediatricians. Before I gave birth, my husband and I interviewed several pediatricians because it was important to us to find one that is not only smart and well-educated, but someone we could trust as being ethical, compassionate, and gentle. Dr. Hochman took the time to get to know us and answer our questions at that first informational meeting, during which she exuded warmth and a genuine love of her job that made me feel comfortable selecting this practice. I've been thrilled by the care that she has given my baby since he was born. The day after I gave birth, Dr. Hochman came to Los Robles Hospital to examine my baby. As a first time mom, I was freaked out about how noisy and congested my newborn seemed. I was convinced something was wrong and that he wasn't getting enough oxygen. It turns out that noisy breathing is totally normal of newborns, but instead of being dismissive and patronizing (I HATE dismissive doctors who take for granted fears of regular untrained people), Dr. Hochman patiently re-examined my baby specifically in the context of my concerns and reassured me that the noisy breathing is normal for newborns and importantly, explained why. I felt I could trust her confidence. Altogether, Dr. Hochman visited us twice during the hospital stay. We ended up seeing Dr. Hochman more frequently in the first month of my baby's life than would normally have been the case because my baby had a bad case of breastmilk jaundice, and during this time I was able to see how much she cares for her patients. Due to the jaundice, my baby had to receive light therapy treatment during a two-night stay at Los Robles, which was extremely stressful, but Dr. Hochman called to check in with us often throughout our stay, which was appreciated. After my baby was discharged, we had to see Dr. Hochman about once a week for a month or so. Post discharge, we had to go back to the hospital every few days to get my baby's heel pricked to monitor bilirubin levels, and there was a lot of interfacing with Dr. Hochman since she was responsible for communicating the lab results to us. Having such a caring, invested doctor during this time really helped calm my nerves during that stressful ordeal. After the jaundice cleared, it's been smooth sailing for my baby so we've only had to see Dr. Hochman for our regular well-being checkups, but each of our visits leaves me feeling like Dr. Hochman is like family now. She actually remembers past conversations we've had about trivial matters as well as details about our personal lives, and doesn't make me feel like we're just exchanging small talk for the sake of it. If she thought of her practice as a volume-based patient mill, she simply wouldn't be able to afford to do this. I look forward to each visit because she loves on my baby as if he were her own. I can sense this even in the way she holds and touches my baby. At this past 9 month checkup, my husband pointed out that our baby still had some umbilical cord belly button crust that we didn't know how to clean out, and without hesitation, Dr. Hochman got some swabs and gently cleaned out my baby's belly button as if he were her own child. She has gone the extra mile for us, including on one occasion offering to come in to the office earlier than her shift so my baby could have his checkup as close to his milestone bday as possible. One time she happened to arrive at the office parking lot at the same time as me, and she came over to my car and helped me carry stuff into the office. Dr. Hochman's philosophies seem balanced, neither veering too new-agey nor too rigid/old school, and her bedside manner is nurturing while still professional. As a nervous Nancy, I appreciate that she validates my concerns without making me feel silly. I come to each visit with a list of questions, and Dr. Hochman takes the time to address each of them. As an added plus, it's nice to know that with 3 kids, Dr. Hochman is not out of touch with the actual concerns of parents. She is also well-connected within the medical community which gives me peace of mind in case we ever need to tap into those connections. The office is clean, with a bright, happy vibe, and none of the employees have ever seemed stressed or overworked. Everyone has been cheery and helpful. I like that there's a separate entrance and waiting area for sick patients. I've been able to schedule same day visits, and they've always been willing to accommodate requests for drop-in weight and height checks. We are so happy with Dr. Hochman, we don't plan on switching doctors even though we recently moved to Simi Valley a few months ago. read more

I asked Dr. Mathews to run one test on my daughter....only to get a bill from the lab for 7 additional test. When I contacted them they informed me that they no longer bill the insurance company and have informed Dr. Mathews office. They wanted me to pay the bill in full plus the labs I didn't ask for. I contacted Dr, Matrhews who said he took it upon himself to run a panel. Why run a panel if the results from the one test i asked for came back negative??? now theres an outstanding bill of $455.00. They they want me to pay for. BE careful when going to see Dr. Mathews, ask up front about insurance, labs , etc. I would hate to see this BS happen to another mother out there. As of now I have sent the bill back to the doctors office, they can pay there portion, and Ill pay for the one test. CROOKS!!!!!!!!! read more

I seriously LOVE this pediatricians office! Dr Hochman and Dr Mathews are simply the best! My daughter has been seeing dr Hochman since she was born and I cannot say enough nice things about her and the amazing staff at this office. They are super helpful over the phone if you have a question for the nurse or the doctor. They always call you back within the hour and give great advice. It's never- "well you have to come in." They are honest and open to holistic ways. We follow Dr Sears Alternate Vaccine schedule (no more than 2 vaccines per visit) and when we deny a vaccine they are supportive and don't judge. They inform you what they would recommend and move on. We never feel rushed during our appointments. Dr Hochman will answer every question you have (we are first time parents) and explains everything so well. She takes her time and really engages with our daughter. She always remembers our names and what we've talked about previously. The waiting room is clean and organized. Oh and a MAJOR BONUS is they have two entrances- one for sick kids and one for healthy. Which is great when you are bringing your kid in for their regular check up and don't want to be around kids with whopping cough. Also, I've never been in the waiting room with more than one other family. They are super flexible with times to come in, especially if you have a concern, and another bonus is Dr Hochman and Dr Mathews alternate Saturdays that they are in the office incase your kiddo needs to be seen on a weekend. Overall, they are awesome and I 110% recommend this office to all my friends and family. read more

I have recently moved to the area, and was concerned about finding a good dr for my 1 yo. People here are so friendly and professional. They let us in on actual time of appointment, which was never the case with my previous dr offices. Dr Hochman answered every single question I had, had enough time for us, gave reasonable pieces of advice and encouragement. The most caring doctor I have met. My boy got his 3 shots within seconds, and calmed down in another minute. Really happy with my new pediatrician. They are simply the best. We have a toddler and a newborn. We have been seeing Dr. Mathews since our oldest was a baby and were dissatisfied with her previous pediatrician (so we have someone to compare him to). We have also been in to see Dr. Hochman (his daughter) several times. They are both patient, knowledgeable and the sweetest people. They stop and explain everything they are doing, what their concerns are and what your concerns should be. They are current with new studies and different approaches (i.e. allergies). I was so happy to see them at the hospital when our youngest was born. It was like getting a visit from family. We just moved out of state and we already miss them very much! read more

I've had two previous pediatricians for my older son and Dr. Hochman was recommended to me when I was pregnant two years ago. She is by far the most wonderful, smart, thorough, open, caring doctor I have had. My teenager and toddler both love her and the nurses are quick, patient, and knowledgeable. They literally asked my children to leave their practice over a billing dispute!! They erroneously billed a sick visit as a wellness and when they didn't get reimbursed for the wellness, they wanted me to pay it. As advised by my insurance carrier, I told them to fix it which they only wanted to argue with me about it. Had they simply fixed it, they actually would have ended up with $8 more, but instead argued with me and then kicked my kids out!!! read more
