Their Lower School principal also resigned recently to relocate (although many would say that was a good thing). The academics at Oak Hall are not great in my opinion and the favoritism, again in my opinion, is unlike anything I've ever seen. Unless you are a big donor or friends with an administrator please don't even consider Oak Hall. Over the last few years many of the best teachers and brightest students have left for Frazier or other private schools. I also know for a fact about behavior issues and racism that have occurred that would shock you. The fancy gates and prestigious price tag status entice many families until they actually get to know the school. Some of their buildings are around 50 years old and are in desperate need of work. After 'nationwide searches' they tend to hire parents or people that many teachers and parents don't even want.

The teachers challenge each child at their personal academic level, while providing a rigorous yet holistic approach to education. In addition to a sound academic curriculum, the children are exposed to both visual and performing arts, public speaking, a foreign language, physical education, with an emphasis on collaborative and interactive work and play. I actively educated both my children and grandchildren and that leaves me rarely impressed with traditional schools. Having visited and interviewed several schools in the Gainesville as well as the South Florida areas, I find this school genuinely impressive. From the beautiful grounds, the passionate teachers, the insightful administrators to and including the overall culture, you will assuredly provide your child with an exceptional learning experience at Gainesville Country Day School.

My review is for the Middle School…read more Seems like a new/newer building. All of the staff is very nice and welcoming (3weeks into the school year). My daughter loves school here so far. The middle school is a part of the high school. They are separated physically and general rule it seems the two don't mix. They do however have middle school classes at the high school, students share classes and the middle school is welcome at the homecoming dance. I wasn't a fan of the homecoming dance mix but I just didn't let mine attend. No biggie. Again the staff seems great with the exception of the lady cop. She is so nasty to parents and students.

As a full time working mom, an elementary school teacher, it was very difficult to spend my days away from my babies. The Academy made it so much easier. I knew they were safe and LOVED. The educational experience, low class numbers, high standards for safety and excellence are worth every red cent I spent. I wouldn't send my children anywhere else. The staff are compassionate, understanding and efficient. I love this school and thank god for it daily.
