Here's a sharper version that criticizes the course's handling of the situation without making factual claims you can't support: Nothing ruins a fun day with the grandkids faster than being made to feel unwelcome. Today, while enjoying a casual family round of golf, another golfer claimed they had called the owner because we were supposedly holding up their "big money game." Instead of promoting patience and good sportsmanship, we were essentially told to move aside and go play somewhere else. If a golf course values gamblers and fast play over families simply trying to enjoy the game, that's a disappointing business model. Golf should be welcoming to everyone, not just the loudest people on the course. To top it off, don't plan on stopping at Three B for a bite if you're playing there. Apparently, taking a break means the course doesn't want you keeping your place. Customer service and family-friendly values clearly weren't on display today. We'll be spending our time and money at a course that actually appreciates all of its customers. read more

One of the worst club house staff I have ever encountered on staff course. Whatever Asian lady in her mid 50s is one of the rudest women I have ever encountered. Be littling which ever young staff member in front of customers and then she has the audacity to start belittling me and my buddies who had a group to celebrate a special outing for me and my boys. The course is actually decent but the club house hospitality ruined it for me. Whoever that Asian lady is she needs to be fired, ruining the image of this golf club. I WILL NEVER EVER BE AT THIS GOLF COURSE AGAIN!!! The staff is beyond rude to the people playing the course. Oakhurst golf club and river plantation is owned by the same people and both courses are 0/10 unplayable, rude staff, sand all over greens, tee box's are mud pits, sand traps hard as concrete. We played 9 holes at oak hurst and it start poring rain so we go to get a rain check and the 2 ladies at the front are straight up rude about it and say NO. There is no lighting when on my groups phone we all got lighting alerts. Clearly the guy that owns these 2 courses is just taking the money to himself and not putting a dollar back into either course. The staff is so rude it's unbelievable. This course and river plantation both need to be shut down. PLEASE NO ONE WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Lost me as a customer to both courses. There is nothing good about any of these courses. read more

Take your money somewhere else this place is absolute trash, I now know why they have a 1.8 star review hospitality it trash, marshals rush you even though you are not the problem believe people that are "regulars" on the course and will screw you out of your money any way they can, today I got a golf cart that was damn near outta gas but when I realized it it was 4:30 and had already made the turn then the gas light came on I tried calling the club house but nobody answered. What the hell are we doing with Oakhurst Golf club? Today, Monday July 7, 2026 you guys charged me full price for the condition the course was in. I feel like I was robbed of $54 plus tax, The greens were sanded so heavily they looked like they had snow on them. Putting was a complete joke, and that's a huge part of the experience people are paying for. If the greens are going to be in that condition, players deserve to know ahead of time and should absolutely receive a discounted rate or some sort of acknowledgment of any of this. What really pissed me off today was having only one nine open with again no sign of any acknowledgment on the website or in person. With tee times going off every ten minutes, the entire day turned into one giant traffic jam. Every hole was backed up by groups waiting. We spent more time standing around than actually playing golf. It was frustrating as hell. If you're going to sand the greens to that extent or close half the course, be upfront about it and adjust your rates accordingly. Charging full price under those conditions feels like you're taking advantage of your customers. Think about this Mr. Preisler, Full price for sand-covered greens and a course setup that guarantees a five hour plus round is ridiculous, do you agree? That's not the product anyone expects when they book a tee time. HORRIBLE!! PLZ READ!! I, just like everyone else on here will NEVER be returning. Plz believe all these reviews when they say, "the Marshall harasses you". I have had 2 separate rounds of golf here that the Marshall has aggressively told us to pick our ball up and go to the next hole or leave. Keep in mind my group and I are decent players... we aren't scratch golfers shooting in the 70's but we definitely play a fair amount and are all around the high 80's range. I say that to say we aren't slow players, we weren't drinking and we were waiting on players in front of us until we swung. The group behind us was NOT waiting on us and yet the Marshall still comes by and very rudely tells us to move to the next hole. We of course said know because we know they aren't going to reimburse us. The owner came out and was just as rude as the Marshall. And proceeded to sit RIGHT behind us and follow us around for the next 3 holes, making the whole day... that was supposed to be a relaxing day off... absolutely miserable and not enjoyable. ALSO... as mentioned by others. The course is in terrible shape. Greens are very close to unplayable. Weeds and dirt spots covering the greens everywhere. You pay $60 to be yelled at and have terrible conditions. They're acting like we are playing at Pebble Beach or something . Save your money and go literally anywhere else! read more

I've played this course when it wasn't in great shape, one might even say poor shape. I played this week and the course was in great shape, probably the best it's been in years. I played mid week so there were no marshals to deal with as others have mentioned. Those that considered the course in bad shape should give it another try. Quite possibly one of the worst rounds of golf i've ever played. The course was in terrible condition, greens and bunkers were not well kept and completely over grown in parts, there was no water readily available along the entire course. However the worst part of the round was the insanely rude marshal. He constantly berated up for being behind pace of play, while holding us up for about 8 minutes on 6 holes out of the front 9. We politely informed him that the group had a new golfer and the marshal proceeded to make snide remarks about said new golfer. He single handedly created the pace of play issue, berated my group half the round, actively insulted a player, and when we asked for his name at the proshop and at cart return the employees refused to provide his name. The only good part of the round was the cart girl working this morning who made sure we were doing well and even sympathized with the experience of having to interact with him. Never coming back and hope everyone who reads this decides on another course! read more

I would give the place 0 stars if that was possible. The driving range was awful, too small to even accommodate those warming up before their tee times, and not even level. The mats are all angled up slope, giving a terrible warm up experience. They then had us go to the first tee 10 minutes before our scheduled tee time where we had to wait 20 minutes to even tee off. The course it self is in awful condition, somewhat scenic but the greens and bunkers were in terrible shape and sprayed or covered with a blueish chemical that came off on gloves and shoes (don't wear white). The absolute worst part of the round was the marshal, which many other reviews have brought up. The other employees refused to give his name, but he was a total d-bag. Constantly berating players for pace of play even though by his quoted "15 minutes per hole" we were barely a minute over per hole. When we told him that we had a new player with us he came back and made snide remarks about it. Overall just ruined the round for us, turned a relaxing round into a stressful day. I absolutely recommend that no one come to this course until they address their management and grounds issues. read more

An improvement would be to use water and fertilizer on the fairways once in awhile. The bunkers are dirt, nice.

Course is in horrible condition , greens are the worst for $75 green fees. The harassment of this place is un necessary when you are scrambling doing a 2v2. If people hit their own ball then what? How does anyone have any fun and enjoy their time with constantly being harassed. Marshal and management is horrible. We tried playing this course for a second time just to see if there was any improvement to the greens.THERE WAS NOT!!! This golf course has the worst greens of any course I have played in the last 3 years. And I have played a lot of them and a variety of them. This is supposed to be a country club? NO WAY!!! The greens remind me of the old municipal courses from years ago. And I'm talking 40 years ago. The BS with the GPS golf carts is ridiculous. I could maybe see it if you had a plush course and you were trying to protect it and you had well defined fairways. But, this course does not. if you get out of the zone with your cart you will be pushing it back to a zone where the GPS can recognize it. Not fun at all. I played this course 23 years ago and it was in fine shape back then. But, not now. I can truthfully say I will never play this course again!!! read more

Love the club house and course is fair but that geo tracking on golf carts is horrible.

The course itself is breathtaking--lush fairways, scenic views, and top-tier design. But don't let the beauty fool you. The customer service is appalling, and the course manager in particular was shockingly rude to our entire group. From condescending remarks to outright hostility, he made it clear we weren't welcome. It's a shame such a beautiful place is run by people who seem to actively dislike their customers. As well as the disrespect to their customers, they have geofencing so tight if you miss the fairway you might as well just leave the ball. Play here if you want great golf and a reminder of how awful people can be. read more

While this course has a great location it is in very poor shape. The greens are in horrible condition. I think 1 out of 18 was in good shape. The fairways are not particularly well maintained. I played here years ago and this was a really nice course, but it has gone downhill in a major way. If you are serious about your golf game then you will probably be disappointed by the overall condition of the course. If you are new to the game and live near Kingwood, Humble or Porter it is probably worth giving it a shot. If you are looking for a quality course at a reasonable price there are much better options available in the area. I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Beautiful layout, terrible greens. This is the second time we played here this year and the green is worse than any course I have seen even the ones in the $20 range. Not sure what is going on here, whether its fungus or other issues, there are dead patches on the green some with green algae growing in it. The bunkers are the same, green with algae and damp, or just rock hard. The bathrooms along the course are not opened, and this is the second time on a weekend with no cart girl. Needs alot of work at $60 a round, and also why its not busy when all other courses in the areas are completed booked. read more

Course was in awful shape, which is a shame because it's a pretty good layout. Tee boxes were rock hard and littered with broken tees, fairways were concrete runways, bunkers were either swimming pools or concrete patches completely lacking sand, and the greens were the worst part. They had been aerated 4 days prior and were still gaping with holes, and they had sprouts of grass everywhere that would knock your ball off in random directions. Definitley not worth the price. Look elsewhere until things improve. read more

My alumni has had our annual golf tournament her for the last 2 years and it has been a successful event both times. I'm not an greatly accomplished golfer though but the course was in good condition but the greens were just so-so. The staff was very helpful in putting on our event and things have always gone smoothly. The golf carts were in good order and there were no issues with them. The liquor cart did not have anything other the beer, soda and water. Most clubs do include alcoholic beverages for sale. Their price point fits our budget so we will probably use them again next year. read more

Attempted to play today, but the elder lady at the front was horrible to my wife and by extension me. My wife was reading a sign talking about special rates from Dec 24-Jan2 (2023) and the total didn't match. The lady said in a haughty voice (well, if you read the red you'll see that it's holiday rates. Ok, we hadn't read that far into the sign. The sign was misleading at best "Special Rates Dec 24-Jan 2 M-Th before 2:00 $41 After 2:00 $35 F-Su $51" Then the red lettering "closed Christmas Day" Dec 26-Jan 1 Holiday rates in effect. Holiday rates are approx $15 more. So bottom line the "special discounted rate only applies to Dec 24 and Jan 2 since they were closed Christmas. Today was Thursday Dec 28, 2023. Ultimately we left without teeing off at all, but at least they refunded my money. After our encounter with the lady we went to the bar to calm down and found out from the rest of the staff this lady is often rude, unhelpful, and condescending and many have complained. We told the manager and he said he would look into it, as I said they refunded our money and the rest of the staff manager included were very nice and welcoming. read more

I asked for no cheesy reply but I received "beverage cart was on the course". The owner totally lied. Did not address no water on course, but instead tried to turn the blame on me? Total BS!! Played in February, course was in awful shape. I would not pay more then 12$ for 18 holes here.

The course was in terrible shape, especially for the price. The tee boxes were littered with tees and the range was even worse. In addition, our cart didn't even have brakes. I hadn't been to this course is years and wont be playing here again. read more

Used To Be A Great Golf Course, But Lacks In Maintenance There is more grass in the bunkers than on the fairways. 100-degree temps and no drinking water or to wet a towel on the course that says staff doesn't care about human safety in 100-degree golfing weather they only care about high dollars cart/ greens fees. Everybody was extremely nice and accommodating. Our friends were late because of the highway being closed. They had a full morning and still were willing to accommodate and let us wait for our friends. if you want to play a course that worth the greens fee, don't go to Oak Hurst Golf Club. for starters, there is absolutely no drinking water on the course, not even one Igloo cooler on either of the 9 holes. This isn't only insensitive to the players hydration needs, it's dangerous during the hot and humid Houston summers. can you say lawsuit waiting to happen? there isn't even any ball washers. Lets begin from the tee boxes...most are not level and all have weeds. the fairways aren terrible, but are typically cut too short making it hard to have a good lie. There are no sand traps. Instead there are mud traps. what they might think to be sand is actually silt. If you play after it has rained, each trap becomes a pond because they have no working drainage. There is no such thing as a true, smooth putt. Weeds are everywhere. your ball bounces to the hole. you can read the puts, but not the bounces. if you make a 10 ft put, it wasn't your skill, it was pure luck! I know all of this because I'm an ex-member. the owner, David, will blame it on last years drought. that's just an excuse because other courses (unless they are owned by David - River Plantation and West Fork) are all equally terrible. so if you want value for your greens fee, go find another course, unless you enjoy playing on a goat farm. read more

Played an afternoon round with some co workers. The course is in decent shape. Price is higher than other courses in the area that are in much better shape. Greens are extremely slow and in much need of work. On the the 5th hole one of the players in our group had his putter head fall off. He's a lefty and the rest of us are right handed players so he couldn't use ours. He called the shop to ask if he could possibly use one from one of the rental sets. The nice young lady in the shop said she would have to check with the owner. He said "No, he will have to rent the whole set". Pretty poor customer service. well we had a 730 as a twosome and we always play here as a twosome but today they told us that they moved us to 750 because the owner said that everybody has to be matched up. they should have emailed us . fine. the foursome in front of us were so slow and hacks so we skipped a hole and continued. Ok, been a bit lame with the reviews so thought I would throw this one out there. Oakhurst Golf Club, in a word, great. It's a slight drive outta town, probably take around 45 mins however I managed to get lost so it took me around 1hr 10mins!! Basically head North on the 59 but that's as far as my directions go seeing as though I literally "fell upon" this place five minutes before my tee time!! Anyway, on with the review. Course is really well kept and provides both a challenge for your low handicap players but equally, for the likes of players like me, an enjoyable round for your more "Sunday League Players". Each hole provides a decent enough fairway to hit at, they have four par 5's and four par 3's, I must admit the par threes were really good however I may be only saying that because I managed to hit them! All in all I think this was a great course, the greens were seriously fast but that's only because they were well kept and firm. I would happily go back here again and hope to do so in the near future. It cost me around $50 all in however I think I was slightly cheaper because I went care of the excellant crew from Westhaven Golf and Sailing Club.
