Beautiful course. Very luxurious. The course has a very nice design. Will definitely be back. Not sure if it's beginner friendly.

I took a visiting friend of mine to play 18 at the Cypress golf course this past weekend on 4/11/26 and I was not impressed at all with the price and the condition the greens were in. It was our first time there, too. We are pretty avid golfers. Check in process: didn't take too long. Older gentleman at the counter was nice. I was not aware that the clubhouse was under construction so there was a lot of construction going on with noise and mud all over. Pretty annoyed already as a start. There's no mention of this on their website either. Driving range: it's about a 4-5 min drive by golf cart from the "temporary" clubhouse. Once arrived, you have to head over to a self dispensing ball machine to collect your balls. This was not very clear or given to us as instructions at check in so we wasted about 10 mins trying to find out where to get balls from. Hitting from mats since it had rained the past few days. Mats were decent. There's a couple of distance markers out there as well. The course: we played Cypresswood course which was the lower priced one at $72 per person. The course design itself is elegant and isolated away from homes which is a nice touch. However, those greens were absolute horrific. For the price I paid, those greens should be nicely kept up with. There's no reason why they should have patches, dry spots, and grainy grass in them. This is very upsetting as it makes the game of golf certainly more challenging but doesn't make for a fun experience. This course definitely needs more maintenance if I'm going to be paying over $70 to play 18 holes here. About 3-4 holes out of 18 were in great condition, other ones were terrible. We never saw the cart girl. There are no restroom stalls in the course or even porta potty's, you have to go back to the clubhouse to use restroom which is a pain in the arse. The pace of the game was also very slow and ended up pairing with a twosome behind us. It took well over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Ridiculous. I think this course has a lot of upside potential. I don't think I'll be returning until the new clubhouse and construction is done which they claim should end towards end of summer this year. This was my first time at Cypresswood and my review is influenced by all the construction happening at this course Check-in/ parking: There's a good size parking lot though it was quite full when we arrived. They have a temporary building for the pro shop and food. They do have some clothing for sale and the usual items (balls, etc) Unfortunately the women's restroom could use a bit of a clean but it was better than the portapottys available on the course. When we checked in we weren't given any info about how the construction influenced the course and were late to our tee time (apparently we were starting in hole 10 instead of 1) Driving range: The driving range is a bit far from the only playable course . The course next to the range is closed for construction. They do have an automatic ball dispensing machine which was neat The driving range itself was quite rough. The area you sand within was sandy and full of divots making practice a challenge. Course: The course itself was quite beautiful. There were a lot of trees and it's refreshing to play without being surrounded by homes. I also appreciated that at a lot of the holes there were ice cold towels ! Unfortunately the serenity of the golf course was frequently cut by construction noise Overall a fine course and I imagine it'll be amazing once all the work is done. This is a beautiful golf course - we played the Tradition side which provided some really awesome views and challenging holes. For a $120 green fee you'd expect some added amenities but nope. The golf cart felt like it was going to fall apart, saw the cart girl one time and she barely had any inventory, no tees provided in the cart, and just didn't feel like the most welcoming course w the staff at the pro shop. Rip off! $115 for tee boxes that were more dirt than grass, unmowed greens with ant hills (Staff said they don't mow on Saturdays since they are packing the course) and three groups waiting on the tee boxes for par threes. Plus - staff was very friendly and the marshalls as well, even apologized for the overcrowded course. read more

All that I came here for was a range so my friend could teach me a couple of tips and tricks of the game. I'm happy there was a golf range. The people here are nice and I had a great time. My only criticism is the balls. Some of the balls were deformed, so we couldn't use them all. read more

Two courses lay on this property. The Tradition Course is the superior track by far. The agronomy team here does well to keep a well-groomed, consistent course in great shape. Bunkers are well maintained and sans fauna or aggregated bunker shrapnel. This is a player's course all the way through. At the time this was written, they are undergoing some major improvements to include the driving range, practice area and clubhouse. They do have a range and short game area over by the Traditions Course, so don't be dissuaded when you roll up and see earth moving/construction equipment. $100 for a round here is a reasonable price if playing conditions are a priority for you. Will charge you for a cart and then tell you how they don't have enough and you'll need to ride with strangers. Manager told me they're more worried about their 20 dollar cart fee than a 110 dollar fee time. Save your money and go somewhere they actually take care of their bunkers and tee boxes. I would give 5 stars but the pace of play is way to slow multiple groups of four ahead of me, as I was playing by myself no one let me pass this made it a very long day. Tee time was 11:40 didn't get done until after 4. on top of that they had no food and only alcohol beverages. On the other hand the traditions course was nice and in good shape. The Tradition track might be the best course in the Houston area. I love this layout. And we played 18 in 3:45 yesterday, which is rare. So no complaints there. But the greens are in AWFUL shape. By far the worst I have ever seen here in 20 or so rounds. 5-star course with 1-star greens right now. Dont play here now. Especially for close to $100. Too many other solid courses around the area. All 18 greens were trashed. The person in charge needs to go make friends with the guy managing the grounds at Gus Wortham and do whatever he does. It such a shame when a great golf course has really messed up greens. read more

Really, really sad what has happened to the Tradition over the years. It became quite obvious after Harvey that the ownership just wasn't going to put money into the complex to rebuild the original club house by the driving range and Cypress Course and the Tradition Club House has been an empty shell for some time. Unfortunately, that isn't the only place where it is quite obvious the place is hurting financially as the tee boxes on both courses are in terrible shape, the fairways can be sparse, and the bunkers are a thin layer of "raked" sand over packed dirt. Today I went to play at the Tradition and what I encountered really disappointed me based upon what this place once was and it is now being slowly nickled and dimed into becoming just another over used daily play course. When I went to get my cart the first one had a large section of the seat missing from it. The missing chunk was bigger than my hand. Second cart I move my bag to the dash is full of cigarette butts. Very obvious it hadn't been cleaned since the last use and this was 10 in the morning so I highly doubt someone had used it early in the day. Greens were in very bad shape as well as having been punched, but that wasn't the biggest frustration. The grounds crew was unable to mow what little grass was on the greens in the morning so they were mowing during the day. I have been on courses where that has happened, but on 4 of the 12 holes we played we were standing in the fairway for 5-10 minutes while the grounds crew member on the mower was oblivious we were waiting on them. Multiple times we had ground crew members cut fairways in front of someone hitting as they moved from one hole to the next. Definitely gave us the feeling we were in the way of the work being done even though we had paid to play. Finally, pace of play was and has become absolutely dreadful. They have one marshal on the course and it is nothing short of miserable. I got through 4 hours in just under 2 hours on the pack 9 between the grounds crew and oblivious golfers before I have enough and called it a day. Please Foresight Golf, give a shit and spend some money on maintenance, please return the Tradition to what it once was, and give North Harris County back this gem. read more

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. This is such a shame. Tradition used to be a great golf course. Now they jam as many rounds as possible into a day. I've played there twice in the last two months. Both rounds were painfully slow, over 3hours to get through nine holes. We complained but the pro shop doesn't care. We got no help from the Marshall either. I won't be going back. read more

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had golfing. Took 5 hours to get to hole 14. They book every tee time they can just to make money. I understand that make as much money as you can. Although when your booking as many tee times as you can in one hour. The pace of play is extremely slow. The Course management is horrible. The pace of play even worse something needs to be done. We talked with the "pros" In the pro shop they don't know left from right. Talked to a couple groups after the round said it was the slowest round they have ever played. I get it take every dollar you can. However when it gets to a point you are waiting 15 min before every T shot. Something needs to change. They are loosing business not attracting players to play there. We also played traditions $100 round. It's a shame, horrendous, and absolutely pathetic. I played Traditions the first and second weeks of May. The staff were gracious and the course and tee boxes were in excellent condition. We were a threesome and wound up following a fivesome - this was a Thursday morning. The fivesome was being held up by a foursome in front of them. We waited a little on each tee box. However we did finish 18 in 4 hours. Often when you have to wait the round seems slower than it actually is. We could have finished in under 3 1/2 hours, but you have to just slow down and enjoy the course without letting it ruin your day! Remember, you dont own the course either! I have played behind that gaggle of seniors who apparently own the place. They will NEVER let you play through! Honestly, three shots in a bunker should be sufficient to excuse picking up. If you can avoid them this is one of the finest courses in TX and well worth trying to play. A real bargain for the price! read more

Warning: Traditions course is a rather dangerous course. While this is the nicest of the 2 courses here, it does pose a few holes where the group ahead of you could be out of sight. This includes #1!!! Playing at a slow 5+ hour speed today, we were hit in to or through 3 times on the front 9. All of those were while we were waiting for the group on green to clear off. This is a really dangerous course, and I dont know how the course or marshals could prevent that in the future. read more

Tradition isn't any more! Played tradition today as a treat always remembering how good this course was!! I'm so disappointed at the condition we played today. This used to be the best jewel in north Houston but today it has become a tired muni that requires money and effort to bring it back to its former glory. With courses such as HMR and wood Forrest on the door step my advice is don't play the course based on its former reputation - very disappointed. Good - Friendly staff / cost $38 .......hmm Bad - driving range, greens, condition of tees, bare hard fairways pretty much all on course amenities, tired carts, poor cart paths. We held a tournament at Cypresswood this month and it was one of the smoothest tournaments of our past few years. Josh Zellers and his staff were a huge help prior to the event and the day of the event. Our tournament was large and held a variety of logistic challenges, primarily due to volunteers and sponsors roaming the course. To assist with sponsorship of the tournament, we offered the opportunities for sponsors to set up tents at the tee box of certain holes. These tents were usually large and included a lot of supplies for setup. Josh provided about 5-8 staff members to drive the sponsors and their equipment to their respective holes. Additionally, Josh was able to order additional golf carts from a third-party to ensure that we had enough carts for our volunteers. All-in-all, Josh was a huge help and we are so pleased with the results of his work. read more

Played Tradition today and it cost me about $90 with a bucket of range balls I was very disappointed in the condition of the course the pace of play and just absolutely not worth what I paid to play I will not play this course again until conditions improve pace of play improves overall service Improves. If I decide to play golf here I will definitely call ahead and specifically enquire about them resolving the inept marshaling as well as the unsafe policy, which appears to be illegal, of allowing drunk golfers drive their golf carts and play golf on their course. What happened to Todd was entirely unacceptable and I wonder if he could press charges. Driving under the influence is illegal that last time I checked. I haven't ever played here and am still considering not playing since I do not recall reading at least a response to Todd's email, who was a return customer. Shameful to say the least. read more

Played the Tradition Course on March 18, 2019. This course has taken a HUGE fall downward. And it's still one of the pricier public courses around Houston. Oddly enough the bunkers were in very good shape. The tee boxes and the majority of the fairways were fairly decent. But the greens were in ridiculously bad shape - by ANY standards. And the areas that front the greens were consistently wet/muddy. I would not play this course again anytime soon - even if it was free. Long commute + high price did not add up. Read a GolfAdvisor review where Harvey was to blame. I had played the Tradition in 2018, after Harvey; and it wasn't this bad. This part of town does retain water, but we haven't seen THAT much rain lately. read more

The last 2 times I have played Cypresswood have been pretty miserable. It's $85 and run by a bunch of amateurs who stack tee times too close together. Today, I was only with 2 other friends and it took us 5 hours. As well as the ball machine for practice balls was yet again empty. I will not be coming back. read more
