Teachers are great at communicating here, we couldn't make it to our sons parent teacher conference so she called us and had a phone conference instead, they are so good at working around busy schedules too! It's unfortunate that some folks had a negative experience with their kids here, but the same can be said for any public and private school - some kids and families do well and some do not. Private schools do have their drawbacks - specials needs, etc - as they simply don't have the vast resources as the public system does and are unable to change / derive curriculum to match each child and family due to their size and scope. As far as my experience at Canterbury with my two children, they love It and are learning at an excellent clip. The parent community is close-knit and are active participants at the school on a daily basis. I would give this school 10 stars if I could. That said, making a decision on your child's education is a very important and personal decision. It has also been very disappointing that the school did not bother to hold the annual 5th grade trip to Washington D.C. which is something most children in elementary school greatly look forward to, our granddaughter being no exception. The school did not even bother letting parents know, we only found out ourselves when we inquired as to when the fundraising for it would begin. I will be very glad when my granddaughter is through attending this school. Thankfully she is finally a 5th grader and on her way out.
