There is every kind of sports and activity you can imagine (they are always working to come up with new options) & it's very inclusive...for kids of all skill levels that want to have fun. The school is rigorous but not cut throat. The kids are pushed but aren't stressed 24/7. At Smes your kids is in a community that lets them be a kid and stumble and grow. I grew up in public school (which I loved!) but having seen one of our kids go thru a K-8th independent school education (and one not) there is a noticeable difference in their confidence and readiness to jump into high school!

It was on top of the hill at the corner of Hamilton and Radecke. There was a steady stream of customers coming in to order and drivers going out on deliveries. That seemed to be a good sign. It was. I couldn't decide so I started asking other customers what they were getting. Big praise for the pizzas, subs and wings & fries. I ordered a White Pizza. After I gave my order to the pretty girl taking the orders we started chatting. The shop is owned by her boyfriend, and they've only been open for five months. I watched the pizza maker, he was lightening fast and pretty generous with the toppings. It turns out he was the owner/boyfriend. They were a cute young couple. My pizza was damn good, I ate a slice while driving home. I called to tell them they had a new customer. The pizza maker laughed and thanked me for my business...I respected that. Some businesses don't appreciate the customer, just their money. I'm definitely going back. Ps. I threw some black olives and arugula on the pizza when I heated some the next day...still really good.

I only went to a service here, not schooling. The worship hall is very large and holds several…read moreservices a week. They also events such as a week of prayer, an Easter play, and a week long festival in July. The service consisted of several pastors giving the message as well as several songs sung at the start and end of the service. There is a cafeteria for people to get food afterwards. The people were friendly and happy to see us. There are also several buildings for Christian based grade school and a gym. Being right off 95 makes it easy to find.

The Kindergarten…read moreteacher, Ms. Anderson, was amazing, the first grade teacher, Ms. Preston, was too strict and my daughter felt very intimidated by her and at times was hurt and upset by her, the second grade teacher, Mrs. Williams, is nice and a good mix of stern, but kind. The kids have gym twice a week, art, music, and chapel once a week. I like that the school goes from a day care center to a Bible college. They have one class for each grade, so my daughter will always be with the same kids every year and will be able to make life long friends.

We came here for a Baseball showcase with my son and the baseball field was very nice. it was easy to get to and was wide open. There was plenty of seating as far as bleachers and non-bleacher seats. Parking was easy and the were bathrooms close by the field and were clean . The campus itself when walking through was very clean all the buildings were closed cause it was a Sunday including the cafeteria, but from what I saw that was able to get to and see the campus was very nice.

3/8/21 Long before I went to private schools, I orginally…read morestarted out in public schools in Montgomery County  Maryland.  To my young mind I did not know I was having trouble with reading and math for a while.  The teachers apparently tried to help, but it seems I was a lost cause.  The teachers had a few choices words when describing me. School kids can be mean, but I was a smartass and gave back as good as I got.  Escalation also happened to and a fight or two occurred.   My parents not happy with my schooling got a second opinion on how learned things. I learned I had dyslexia  and Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.  Methylphenidate  better know as Ritalin was something I had to take for a while.  Then one day I stopped taking in and I was fine. There is more to this story, but I am not sure I got the full story from my mom. In short, she didn't want me taking it anymore. If there were side effects from the Methylphenidate, I don't really remember.  When I left Montgomery public schools,  I was introduced to students that had similar problems learning things. Montgomery County Schools weren't  all bad. Students and teachers in both public and private schools can be helpful and trustworthy. They can also be bullies and untrustworthy.   The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. What you get is a mixed bag in education.

I volunteered to be one of the parent chaperones this week from Wednesday - Friday. When I recently told a friend I had done that he told me I was crazy and I - or someone else - would probably die. He did it a few years ago with his now- 17 year old and said it was horrible. " Have you any idea how unpleasant it is to be in a cabin with a dozen 12 year olds?" With these words ringing in my ears I was absolutely dreading this trip. Instead it turned out to be amazing - not just because for 2 days I was with Thing 1 and Thing 2 and all their buddies doing lots of cool things in the countryside, but I was also away from TV, internet, phone, BBY, email, distractions, credit card bills, tax documents - It was absolutely magnificent. A huge shout out to the teachers and Outdoor Educators of Montgomery County. This place is phenomenal - it has been going since 1963. And a further shout out to the budget guys - don't stop funding this place! It is absolutely brilliant. By the second day you can already see how the kids are changing, more in tune with the surroundings, paying attention, working together, being considerate. Yeah sure - they are kids and there will be issues, but overall this was a simply magnificent experience.

I can not wait to start and have volunteered for two times a week to help a third grader (or perhaps more than one) to discover the joy of reading. I love the program, and how they are truly vested in helping make a positive impact on the next generation of kids. I feel blessed to be able to help in what ever way I can.
