My child was being bullied in school at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, It started off at the beginning…read moreof the year, it became so bad she was put in a position where she had to be on defense at all times, although the school was able to curtail the bullying for a short period it began again. This time it was to the point where my child was crying because she was afraid to go to school. The schools solution was to recommend her staying in the class for students creating problems rather than deal with the aggressors. They were going to try to come up with a plan to keep her safe for bathroom use and lunchtime. When we put in a request to transfer it was denied even though my daughter's safety was at risk. We had to pull her out of school for her safety. Those same students who were bullying her found her in the neighborhood of a friend and attacked her, two girls beating her up to the point she had a black eye, and the police had to be involved. Shame on a school and school system that doesn't provide for a child's safety!

The teachers are great and very vested in making sure each kid is not only performing to their potential but also ensuring that child is doing ok mentally and emotionally. That willingness, and more important, the constant availability to mentor, encourage or even just be a sounding board. Don't get me wrong, the academics are top notch. But it is the culture of this school that is its strongest draw. I highly recommend it,
