From the moment my grandma moved into Oakmont of Carmichael, we knew she was exactly where she needed to be. Lindy, who oversees the facility, is truly exceptional. She is kind, compassionate, accommodating, and genuinely cares about both the residents and their families. During every interaction, she made us feel heard, supported, and valued. Her leadership is reflected in the culture of the entire community. What stood out most to me was the staff in Memory Care. Every single person went above and beyond for my grandma. They were attentive, patient, loving, and treated her with dignity and respect. It never felt like they were simply doing a job--it felt like they truly cared about her as a person. As a family member who spent a great deal of time at the facility, I had the opportunity to get to know many of the caregivers, staff members, residents, and families. The warmth and genuine kindness I witnessed every day was something special. My grandma loved living there. There were always thoughtful activities to bring joy to the residents, from fun events like Mocktail Mondays to musical guests and entertainment throughout the week. The staff work hard to create meaningful moments and a sense of community for everyone who lives there. As my grandma's health declined, the care and compassion shown to her never wavered. Knowing that she spent her final days surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her brings our family an incredible amount of comfort. We will never forget the kindness, patience, and love that was shown to her during that time. To everyone at Oakmont of Carmichael: thank you. Putting your loved one in a care facility is never easy but Oakmont Carmichael has been good for us. My mother in law has been in Oakmont Carmichael memory care for a year. The facility is frequently cleaned and they provide lots of activities. The staff is kind and the Executive Director is amazing. She really tries to meet family needs with empathy. The food is better than you would expect and I have lunch here regularly with my mother in law. The central courtyard and outside gardens are well kept and peaceful. My wife has made friends with others dealing with their parents in memory care and it has truly been a community. read more

We moved my 83-year-old mom to Traditions (Memory Care) here in November 2025 since I live just a few miles away. This was the third place she had lived in during 2025 and we've finally found a place that we all like! I'm super impressed by the professionalism of the entire staff. The Executive Director, Lyndee, is amazing - friendly & energetic and is always available to answer questions, address concerns, hold an family meeting, or just catch up. All of the front desk staff are always smiling and it's cute how they automatically open the front door for you when they see you about to walk in. The staff in Traditions is on top of it... they check in on mom frequently and encourage her to get out of her apartment and participate in activities. When she declines, they'll visit with her a bit in her apartment to make sure she's doing ok. Linda, Gilda and Erick are standouts that my mom really, really likes (that's saying a lot, too!) They've called me a couple times when mom refuses to take her meds (usually she's confused and thinks she's already taken them) or if she's upset and crying. Since I'm so close by, I can pop over there to help her out and keep her company. I'm so glad mom moved to Oakmont Carmichael and it has relieved a lot of our stress to know that she is so-well cared for! read more

I can't speak to the the Assisted Living part of this facility, but I can tell you a great deal about their Memory Care section. My dad lived at Oakmont for 2 years in his own apartment. He's designated as a "higher functioning" dementia resident, therefore he was 1of 2 residents, that were given a "call pendant" to call for help if needed. For the entire period he lived there, the pendant never worked as the Directors of Oakmont assured us it was. We moved him from Oakmont because they were not able to ensure his safety and were not meeting his basic care needs. Oakmont states there are motion detectors in each resident's room and staff respond when alerted. Not once did staff check on my dad for "motion detection" while I was visiting him for hours at a time, multiple days a week, for 2 years. There is also clearly a problem with adequate staffing and staff retention. A lot of new caregivers and many didn't last long. This poses a huge problem with consistent care and trust for residents with memory issues. In two years, there were 5 different Memory Care Director changes. Oakmont advertises with lots of "bells and whistles", that they could potentially use, to provide for excellent care, but without well-trained staff under experienced management, it's just for show. We moved my dad to a really nice 6 -bed care home. He's finally getting the excellent care he deserves. We moved our mother into the beautiful Oakmont of Carmichael Assisted Living facility in January. We have had excellent care for her since her first day. The quality of care is outstanding from the consierge to the helpful, and friendly maintenance team. The daily staff have been sweet, patient and caring to our mom. Our mother's care team made sure she was introduced and seated with people in the lovely dining room from day one. Our mother enjoys very good, and creative meals daily from the large selection of entrees on the menu. If you have a foodie parent, they will surely be satisfied! The recreation team is top notch, with a wide variety of activities from tea parties to discussion forums. Our mother enjoys daily chair exercise, and socials often. The staff really go out of their way to connect with each resident, ensuring a loving feeling for our mother when we cannot be there. There are even outings to interesting venues, and fun places like thrift stores! The beautiful and gracious recreation leader, Darlene, has wonderful ideas, and never-ending energy for her extended family at Oakmont of Carmichael. I have been most impressed with Tamara in administration, two separate times she has contacted me on her day off to assure things are running smoothly with my mom. Overall, we feel very good about our mother's new home at Oakmont of Carmichael. read more

I have a very dear friend and former colleague at this facility. It is nicely kept, but I do not think they have the staff they need to support the residents. I called this morning and asked one of the attendants to check on my friend as she was supposed to fly to Hawaii today, but she does not have a ticket and probably forgot her passport. It has been 15 minutes since I called and spoke to an attendant and asked her to check on my friend who did not answer my call to her room. My friend has memory issues and was up late last night trying to figure out how she was going to get to the airport and to Hawaii. read more

Their fees keep going UP. The quality of food is really bad. Memory care doesn't get the same as assisted living does. They get less and worse quality. Care givers are not happy anymore. The new directors don't know how to communicate and really won't help us. The NURSE ... don't get me started on the NURSE . She is something else !! They dropped the number of care givers on the floor. Families are starting to help out because the care givers can't care for everyone. We're moving OUT because of what this place has become. I feel compelled to write a review because of what I am seeing in other reviews. I know everyone has a different experience, however I have to share my story. My mother has dementia and was no longer happy in her own home because she was convinced it was not her home. I searched many places before choosing Oakmont of Carmichel. My mom has now been there for just over 2 years. Although there have been a few bumps in the road along the way I have always felt that Oakmont was more than willing to work with us to make things better. Currently I feel that the "department heads" are very interested in making things the best they can be. I feel more than comfortable talking to the head of Memory Care, the Head of Medication Technicians, the Director of Health Care, the Activities Director and the Executive Director and the staff. Though I know being a caregiver is challenging so there is a bit of turnover in staffing, there are several caregivers that have been at Oakmont for many years. The care staff is more than willing to work with the family to give their resident the best care possible. The most important part of this is being a partner in care with the staff. Don't hesitate to talk to people about something you think may be an issue. Caregivers and Med Techs are people that interact with my mother daily. I am so grateful that they make her feel special and cared for. My husband and I visit my mother every day so we see many interactions being handled well, even when they are handling challenging situations. read more

Don't put your loved one in Oakmont of Carmichael, Memory Care. What they tell you to get your money is absolutely opposite of the care they provide. My families experience has been they don't provide any care. It's a hostile environment. My mom has only been there three months and her decline is unbelievable. Rarely does anyone check on her every two hours. They want my mother who is 96 years old with end stage dementia to sit in the TV room that is ice cold and to sit there all day, without care. Also the smell of urine in this area turns your stomach. Must mention the TV room is right next to the dinning room...can you imagine having a meal with the horrible stench of urine??? There is no communication and management is a joke. No one seems to be in charge. They're always short of staff and some of the staff could care less about the elderly. I would assume they aren't in compliance with State licensing. I notice in my mother's short 3 months living in hell, the staff turnover is unbelievable. My siblings never leave her alone and probably will be taking her out of Oakmont. It has been a living hell with her in Memory Care. It's a constant worry! We have complained to management and things get better for a week and then return to the same thing...NO CARE. I've said enough and there is so much more, but I will stop here. DON'T PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE IN OAKMONT MEMORY CARE..you will regret it especially if they are end stage dementia!!! read more

I chose Oakmont for my sister (I'm her conservator) because of the activities and services they claimed they provided. They said they offered art classes, yoga classes, outings, etc. Not true! My sister was a high functioning memory care patient. In the 5 months she was there, she went from that to barely able to walk or talk. They had her completely drugged up . They were shut down for COVID outbreaks 4 times in those months. She had no problems with incontinence but they made her wear Depends. She had her diamond from her wedding ring pried out and stolen, lost her dentures, had most of her new clothes stolen and replaced with someone rag bag clothes. The list goes on as well. To all of the emails and phone calls I made they couldn't even be bothered to apologize. They just said they weren't responsible for any of the loss. Worst of all they left all the residents in memory care just to sit and stare at a TV. We were NOT allowed to visit for 2 months and never allowed to see their rooms. When I was finally able to see her, I was shocked at the changes. I gave notice immediately and placed her at The Woodlake. In a short amount of time she began to recover not only her personality but her functionality as well. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone that cares about their family members. The care is non-existent and the cost ridiculous. The assisted living side is maintained beautifully . The memory care side is a ghetto by comparison. Altogether a horrible experience. read more

I moved my aunt into Oakmont of Carmichael a year ago and I have to say it is the best decision I ever made. I was so hesitant and feeling guilty at the time my aunt was recovering from a broken femur and had to go into assisted living. I cant believe difference it has made for my aunt she has friends now instead of just being at home alot of her friends have passed away so to see her laughing and connecting with people just warms my heart. The staff are so caring and loving. The administration really worked with our family in the beginning especially since we were really struggling with the situation. We don't have a loved one there, but in looking at this place and all it has to offer, I wouldn't hesitate! The place is beautiful, everything so well manicured, and once you look on their Facebook page (with updated pics regularly!), you'll see all the fantastic, creative activities organized on such a regular basis - the smile on the residents' faces says it all. Incredibly disappointed with what has happened the last few months, particularly the last few weeks. Here is my experience with Oakmont Carmichael and the Memory Care. I moved Mom there strictly because of Kylie. Over the last year or so the care Mom received was impeccable and beyond anything I had ever imagined. I knew that Mom was in the best and only place that someone with Dementia should be living. However the last few months with the additions and changes and people there has been a significant decline in the happiness of everyone there. Nathan the E.D has turned the building into a unhappy, robotic hostile place for the residents and the people working there. The energy in the building was ugly. Nathan does not respond or assist, and lies. Wendy the Nurse has some kind of issues and is so stressed all the time. when Kylie was not there we never got any responses from Wendy and had to take care of things ourselves. Then Kylie left , very sad. We had planned a pot luck lunch for Kylie the day before she was to leave because we all valued her so much and we wanted to send her off with love. However, the day before this I watched the most absolute unprofessional act I've ever seen in my 52 years. Nathan and an HR rep came back in front of all the staff and 4 families and made her leave on the spot. Never in my life have I ever witnessed such cruel unprofessional heartbreaking event. A Manager should never do that in front of others. he took our goodbye away. And this just proves what type of person he is and what he is turning the place into. i have been in every day since that event to make sure Mom is taken care of. They are short staffed nearly every single day. Many days only 2 caregivers working. We have been helping with meal service and escorting residents because they don't have enough. My brother also helped with activities so the activity girl could help with care roles. We kept mom there for Kylie, we will leave because Kylie is not there. As well as many. this situation has taught me Oakmont has seriously gone down hill and it's the residents that are suffering. They all pay top dollar, yet are not getting the care or services they pay for. There is a class action law suit happening because of low staffing, and I see why. They are not putting the required staff on. I feel bad for the caregivers having to work so hard with not enough staff. Good luck in your business Oakmont, you made a critical mistake. read more
