I decided to pay a visit to a friend of mine that has been in this facility. I was appalled to see some pictures of her legs and the condition that they are in prior to my visit. So I decided to go in person to see. The outside of this facility and the downstairs look very lovely but once going upstairs it's almost like it's a lockdown. You need someone to enter a code to let you in and out .Once in, we knocked on our friend's door and it's locked from the outside so she basically was locked in her room. One of the staff members opened her door for us .The whole second floor smelled like urine. We were able to visit with our friend but we had to keep the door open to visit with her per a staff member there who was not too friendly. The heat was on in her room on 70. The temperature in her room was 85. When it's a lovely summer day outside, there's no reason for a heater to be on. Unbelievable ! I don't think the staff is caring for this individual very well because of the condition of her lower extremities. Why isn't a physician called for her? What is preventing care for her? It's obviously the staff doesn't care. It almost looks like some sort of elder abuse.

When a resident has an urgent need, others will be left unattended until the one staff is free. We ultimately moved our loved one as too many visits we found our loved one laying in bed watching tv or if sitting in a chair just staring out the window. Lack of socialization or activities and food was just ok. The administrator was rude at times. We found a great place less cost and more options for our loved one. I worked in hospice for years and was extremely disappointed not only with our experience but lack of professionalism of the administrator. After ten stressful months and thousands of wasted dollars at another facility, we were asked by…read morefacility administration to move our mother out ASAP. We frantically began trying to find her a spot, but it was hard because of her somewhat unique care needs. When we toured Aegis, we were skeptical. Without exception, the recruiting/admissions staff roll out the red carpet no matter what facility you're considering. They engage with staff during your tour, hype up the longevity of their employees, brag about the extensive amenities provided, answer all of your emails and calls immediately. Unfortunately, as we discovered at Atria (review pending), that treatment can end abruptly once you sign the contract and write that first check. But not at Aegis. Here, that excellent sense of security and care you get during your first tour is something they obviously strive to maintain. And it shows! After a full month at Aegis, all I can say is that I'm more impressed every day with everything, from the grounds to the staff to the food to the activities. Even the admissions coordinator continues to assist us and answer every question we have. The staff is happy, even if you're not touring. Someone comes in to check on my mom no less frequently than once an hour whenever I'm there, usually twice. If it's not the pet therapy, medication management, snack cart, or other scheduled thing, it's someone popping in to ask mom if she'd like to go to dinner or an activity, or simply if she needs anything. It's clear Aegis takes pride in its facility. It's well-maintained and concerns are promptly addressed. If the person who'd normally take care of it is out, someone will be there to try to fill in. The difference is night and day from the last place. For example, at the prior facility, we were only able to arrange transportation successfully about three times. The remaining fifty or so times, they ignored us or gave excuses. At Aegis, I had a last minute request to get mom a ride to the dentist and their response was "Don't worry about it. We'll make it work!" The grounds are well-kept and the facility is clean. Plus there's an adorable fluffy white dog that lives there and lots of times is just cruising around greeting folks. Aegis feels more like a giant shared house than a hospital, like some other places do. Many residents leave their doors open. It feels safe and I feel good knowing my mom is in such capable hands. Finally, they make extraordinary efforts to get to know you and your whole family. Some staff actually take notes about conversations with residents and families in an effort to personalize every single experience. I don't know how, but Aegis seems to have perfected the art of residential care. I cannot thank them enough.

We are so grateful for the exceptional care Mom receives at Jazba. At 86 years old, she is…read morephysically healthy and remarkably fit -- her main challenges are related to memory. After three years of living with me, it became clear that Mom needed a higher level of structure, supervision, and social interaction than I could consistently provide at home. I began an extensive search, exploring nearly 40 different care options -- everything from large assisted living and memory care communities to smaller, private board-and-care homes specializing in dementia care. I asked tough questions about caregiver-to-resident ratios, staff turnover, nutrition, movement, music, routines, and social engagement. Jazba quickly rose to the top and became the gold standard by which I compared all other options. Here's why: A Warm, Homelike Environment: Each Jazba residence is a single-family home, full of light, warmth, and thoughtful design. Far from cold or clinical, they're inviting, clean, well-organized, and charming. Visitors and residents alike feel at home the moment they walk through the door. Nutritious, Family-Style Meals: Meals are prepared fresh each day and enjoyed together around the table. The menu follows the MIND diet -- rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based, high-fiber foods -- supporting both brain and overall health. Meaningful Daily Activities: Every day includes music, art, gentle exercise, fresh air, and light occupational therapy. Holidays, birthdays, and life milestones are celebrated with joy and creativity that rivals any kindergarten class -- in the best way possible. Field trips between homes build a sense of community and connection among residents. Unconditional Acceptance: Residents are met with patience, dignity, and respect -- always. Whether a story is told for the third time or a memory gets fuzzy, staff respond with kindness and compassion. This culture of acceptance extends to everyone in the home. After just a month at Jazba, my mom began speaking to me with more warmth and tenderness than I remember from my youth -- a transformation that still moves me deeply. Compassionate, Competent Care: The staff are not only incredibly kind, they're highly capable and organized. Detailed records are maintained for every resident, which allows them to tailor care and keep families and medical providers well-informed. Whole-Person Support: What sets Jazba apart is their commitment to the whole person -- not just the diagnosis. My mother is a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, and her faith is central to her identity. I worried about how she'd feel when she couldn't attend church regularly. Jazba didn't miss a beat: the team helped arrange transportation when possible, and on Saturdays when she couldn't go, they streamed the service on the big TV so she and other residents could participate together. When I visited later that day, I found them making crafts and listening to uplifting music. It was beautiful. Connection and Communication: Every week, I receive text messages and photos of Mom -- laughing, doing light housework (which she adores), creating art, or exercising with others. She's been at Jazba for four months now, and I can honestly say: this is the happiest I've seen her in over a decade.
