Our experience with Citrus Heights Terrace has significantly declined since Veronica took over in management. The facility, once a welcoming and well-run community, has suffered from poor leadership, lack of transparency, and a noticeable decline in professionalism. Veronica consistently fails to communicate important information with families, often keeping crucial details hidden or changing policies in a way that confuses memory care residents. Her lack of social awareness and engagement is evident--she appears nervous and uncomfortable when speaking, avoids direct interactions by staying in her office, and does not take the time to truly know residents or their families. Rather than taking responsibility for the facility's issues, she deflects blame onto others and delegates her responsibilities, which has negatively impacted staff morale and overall care quality. Since she took over, we have seen an increase in concerns, including visits from Adult Protective Services and multiple families forced to relocate their loved ones due to poor communication and unprofessional management. Before Veronica's tenure, our loved one was thriving in a positive, supportive environment with dedicated staff. Now, that level of care has declined, and the once-excellent team seems stifled under her leadership. This facility desperately needs leadership that prioritizes residents' well-being and open, honest communication with families as this was prior to this new manager starting. We truly hope Citrus Heights Terrace addresses these concerns before more families feel the need to make difficult decisions to leave for their loved ones' care. read more

6 mos ago I thought this place was a godsend after 1.5 yrs of my mom in the not so great assisted living system under MediCal with worsening dementia. Unfortunately, my mom ended up in the ER with a 12x4 bruise on her lateral upper chest, a C1-2 and 2nd rib fracture WITHOUT falling and prior to that she "fell" or got pushed (depending on which staff you ask) requiring hip fracture surgery only 2 weeks after moving in. Not exactly evidence of a safe place. As an RN, and daughter it's hard to see a parent go through this let alone the stress on her and me thru this situation. My mom suffers from dementia and I was very grateful to be able to get my mom into this facility. This is the first time I've ever had to do this and a person isn't always sure how things will turn out. Suffice to say that the care my mom is getting is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and genuinely care for the patients in their care. Office staff is also amazing! I'm always updated when something comes up. I went to Citrus Heights Terrace and actually meet with Toni Jones, and she is exceptionally knowledgeable and very friendly. She is very professional and you can see she cares a lot for not only the residents but for us as families. From what I saw the community looks good, smells good and is very beautiful inside. Citrus Heights Terrace failed to inform me or call an ambulance for my mom's fall at their facility in which she fractured her hip for 10 to 12 hours! (Time range due to conflicting stories about what time in the morning she fell but they didn't get her help until almost 9 PM that night.) Most of the caregivers are very nice but I don't think the staff are well trained. There were numerous problems while my mother was a resident there, including finding my mom in soiled Depends when I would arrive to visit, seeing other residents in wet pants, multiple residents, including my mom, having constant skin problems, personal items being lost, residents' hygiene not being taken care of, one of my mom's medications being discontinued because they had trouble administering it, the list goes on and on! It goes deeper than the Admin, I tried to get the Director involved but he didn't care. When we moved her out we found that her mattress had an enormous urine stain on it. (It has a waterproof mattress cover when we took it in but that disappeared.) How sad to know that my mom was laying in her own urine for who knows how long. read more

My mother-in-law moved in here at the end of November and we have been so thankful for the staff at CHT! She was accepted under the Assisted Living Waiver Program (Medi-caid) and while many places I spoke with during our search seemed to treat ALWP candidates as second-class citizens, I have never gotten that impression from CHT. They went out of their way over the Thanksgiving week to get the paperwork in order and moved in. The transition in that first week was understandably rough for my mother-in-law but the staff - especially Toni, the administrator and Ashley - were both so on top of it in terms of communication with us, and adapting their support and approach as they learned my MiL's needs and personality, and thankfully she is settled in now. Memory-care is certainly not an easy job but the staff work together well here in caring for the residents, and do it with compassion and a positive approach. The facility itself is also a great size - not too big (designed with a circular layout so impossible to get lost, about 50 residents so not so large for someone to get overlooked) and not too small (enough variety to make a friend and keep things interesting!). Our mom's dementia progressed and could no longer be accommodated at her assisted living home. She then fractured her hip and we had to find her a new home that would be able to tend to her growing needs. Mom spent over ten days at a skilled nursing facility. She had little to no human interaction and she seemed to be going downhill. Mom seemed like she was in a stupor and was unhappy. I contacted Tina from Citrus Height Terrace, a memory care home. Tina made the transition for our mom so easy. Tina stayed well past her end of shift to make sure mom got signed in to Citrus Height Terrace. Tina and her staff are warm and friendly to their residents. I visited mom the next day and there she was happily coloring and sitting next to one of the staff members. The facility looks neat and clean. The grounds are well kept and attractive. I can see mom enjoying going outside and getting some sunshine. I can't thank them enough. I cannot say enough good things about CHT. Ashley and Staff are amazing. Communication is good. It was a 1 year process of researching, touring, meeting the staff, and reading reviews to find the right place for Mom. My experience with CHT has been amazing. Mom is happy, smiling and talkative. She is thriving there. When people ask about Mom, I tell them how amazing the staff is and how Happy Mom is when I visit her. People are quick to complain and give negative feedback and I know getting positive feedback makes everyone happy. The staff works hard to take care of the residents. They are caring, they are fun and, most of all, they treat the residents with the dignity and care they require and deserve. I have seen it first hand, their dedication to the residents. A letter about the Terraces from my mom, who is a resident there: "I am writing this in favor of the Citrus Heights Terrace, an assisted care facility, at 7952 Old Auburn Rd., Citrus Heights, CA. The outdoor and indoor maintenance is excellent. The landscape is beautiful. The crews are quick to repair plumbing and electrical problems or any other physical dangers. The dining halls, bathrooms, salon, and hallways are cleaned up promptly often and very thoroughly. The caregivers do a great job, seldom complaining about their endless task. I have never seen or heard any inappropriate treatment of the memory care residence. Rather, I have seen actions of great patience, compassion, and a sense of humor. The caregivers have a knowledge of each one's personal preferences and needs. There is a good rapport among the boss, the management, and the staff. The boss does not hesitate to remove anyone for miss behavior at any level of employment. No one is fired or laid off without good reason. It shows a strong sense of respect for human beings. All the staff are cheerful, practical, down to earth hard-working people who are dedicated to their professions. The terraces a Citrus Heights exemplifies a solid, loving community who understands memory care and its challenges. I feel loved. I am safe here. I enjoy life again. Unfortunately, we called them many times and went down there to talk to them and nobody returned the phone calls, and there was nobody there to talk to. Very rude considering the circumstances involved in the peoples demise of their family or and love ones. A simple phone call to say their services were not available would have been an order, but obviously this businesses management is very weak and inconsiderate. I would not recommend them if you do not want any stress. They seem unattainable and uncaring, obviously without the follow-through that should be involved in a solid business. possibly their facility is adequate but the service we got seems to say otherwise. read more

People here don't care about the seniors here it is a lie if they tell you they do, my mother doesn't get the care they say they provide. The place smells, not clean staff are rude. I wholeheartedly recommend Citrus Heights Terrace. Let's just say it has been a nightmare finding a suitable facility for my mom, and I'm so grateful that she's finally found a home there. I'm impressed with Tina's philosophy, commitment, and management style. I'm also very happy with the care and dedication I've seen in the staff. And the place is clean, safe, well-run, with what appears to be a new-ish building (no idea if new or renovated) with a nice lay-out. There is music and activities, good food, an enclosed outdoor area, TV's ... a wonderful environment for those suffering from dementia and in need of memory care. ***RIP*** My Grandma peacefully passed away June 19th. The review below is my true reflection on how well my Grandma was well cared for during her stay there. I really love the quality and the care they give to the residents at this facility. My Grandma has been here for 2 years and she is doing wonderful. Every so often I come here to visit her. The staff are friendly too, and you're encouraged to stay with them to have lunch with the residents and even participate with them in the activities. The place is always clean and the staff works extra hard to make sure all of the residents are taken care of. Some rooms are shared and some residents have their own rooms. There's a small walk area outside the building and I usually walk back and forth a couple of times with my Grandma and also walk inside with her for a bit. There is always something for the residents to do there, and you can see the activity calendar there when you go into the building. read more

We toured this memory-care facility in hopes it would be a good fit for my mother-in-law who has had Alzheimer's Dementia for several years. The Administrator, Tina Newton, was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about memory care residents' needs. The facility is very clean and well-lit. We observed an exercise class residents were participating in, and we were impressed by the staffs' interactions with the residents. The grounds are beautiful, and the residents' rooms are very spacious. The common areas are well furnished and welcoming. I had a great experience here on Halloween day I brought the little ones in morning the staff were so delightful they're just wonderful people you can tell they care about the residence. It was so nice to see the residents how happy they were seeing little ones running around in their costumes you could see on their faces how happy and full of joy. Placing a loved one in a care home is a difficult decision and one that you may question yourself repeatedly. My father was a resident of Citrus Heights Terrace and I highly recommend their care home. My father had a terrible experience in another care home as well as a not much better experience in a board and care before arriving to Citrus Heights Terrace. There was a noticeable difference in him once he got to CH Terrace. He was happy and never once complained about various things like he did at his prior places. He was treated as if he was a family member and so were we. The care home is well kept and clean. All the employees were very caring and patient. Tina runs a great care home. I just wish we had found them sooner. read more

My mother, Nancy Williams, passed away on the morning of November 2, 2019. She was a resident of CH Terrace since July 2018. I would like to give my sincere thanks to Tina, Ashley, and all of the caregivers who treated my mom like their own. I want to thank the kind and loving staff at CHT. My mother suffered from Alzheimer's and the decision to move her was not easy. We had many locations to choose but felt that CHT was the right fit. It's clean and safe and the building itself looks like a cute home. We met with the team and from there felt like we made the right choice for our mother. Staff always kept us informed and were always so welcoming when we would regularly visit. As mom progressed and we knew her time on earth was near its end - the staff stepped up even more! We hugged and cried together. They always treated my mom as one of their own. They gave us strength and gave my mom dignity. She wasn't just a resident but she was like family member. Hospice was also a blessing! Suncrest hospice are filled with angels. What a blessing! Mom just passed and we miss her dearly but what honestly helped as the amazing staff at CHT.
