We have had a highly positive experience at Oakmont Wellness Center with Dr. Sattar and Debbie, the other physician in the office. Both are caring, helpful, and skilled. We like the Osteopathic approach to medicine and the emphasis on a wellness plan and appreciate that they do not shy away from application of prescription medication as part of that plan when it is warranted. Of greatest interest to us has been the thorough blood panels they offer that have been able to determine allergies, pre-diabetic indicators, and a host of other factors that assist with everything from weight loss goals to sleep. We know several other people who come here specifically for that service and have been helped greatly by it. The one caveat, and I think the possible reason for the negative reviews, is an occasional communication issue with the staff. I have seen this as minor, and possibly even cross-cultural as the staff is very international. I like this, personally, and am ok with different communication styles. We have been required to follow up about something that was promised in a few instances. But, by no means has it brought our overall experience down. Update: Upon going to get a lithium level done this morning (because they wouldn't fill more than a week's worth of my script even though I'm not due for a level until END of October and I'm trying to get stuff sorted to go on an out of town trip), they had also ordered 20+ unnecessary blood tests on top of it without consulting or informing me. Do NOT ever come here!!! Made an appointment for blood work first then to see the doctor 2 weeks later. I drove an hour to come here and when I arrived I was told because I hadn't been here for 2 years I'd need to see a doctor first then I was told because of my insurance I would need to pay upfront for seeing the doctor first because my insurance pays them back slowly. All of this was not communicated to me over the phone before I drove there. On top of that the receptionist said, "Okay, that'll be $110." I've HIT my deductible. I showed up 5 minutes early for my appointment. I showed common courtesy to them and they couldn't pick up the phone and call me to tell me these things??? That's ridiculous. Don't be fooled by the reviews left by those involved with their office. Like the other reviews mentioned you'd think you were walking into an office in a third world country. No professionalism, or organization. 1 hour wait for initial appointment. PLEASE BE AWARE---you have to return to their office for ANY results of labs or testing. They don't call you to review or offer supplements, medication, counseling of any type. So if like me, you know your insurance is ending don't go cuz you'll have to go again just for results AND PAY for an appointment. NEVER dealt with this before. Seems like a money maker to me though right?! That's double the appts. I have an autoimmune disease let me just tell you about the number of doctors I've been to and never had a problem getting treatment or results over the phone. From traditional, functional, holistic and naturopathic, I've been there. They say it's cuz it's "too extensive" well the appt took all of 10 minutes to get results so that's a lie. What prompted this review for me was a letter I just received of them terminating our patient/Doctor relationship LOL Because I demanded my results as I'm really ill and coming up with money just to GET MY RESULTS wasn't fair!!! This is crooked!! So please know this before you go. I was NOT told this nor was I informed when my results were in I had to call to find out they were sitting in my file. As a medical student who has been a patient of Doctor Sattar and her NP. I have to say they are very knowledgable and helpful. The wait at times can be long but that goes with most practices as they try to care for all patients. Highly recommend this place for Medical care. Dr Sattar has been my physician for over 8 years. My entire family now goes to her as their primary physician. She is the most thorough doctor of any physician I have ever been to. She wants to understand you and your habits and brings a more balanced preventive approach to health. She works with you to develop a plan to put you on a path to health. I have put up with her rude office staff for five years because I liked her so much. But not after today. Four of them flat out lied to me - told me my lab orders had been sent (yesterday), told me he would send them right away (first thing this morning), told me he would fax them right away (an hour after that), told me she would email them right away (an hour after that). Finally, at 4:00 this afternoon, after a day of missed work and fasting, was told that THIS MORNING she had changed her policy and I would have to be seen first before she would order lab work! I only went to this practice due to BCBS picking the doctor as my primary physician. My insurance required for the doctor to make referrals for specialist. On both visits I saw a nurse practitioner, and she explicitly said she put my referrals in. The only referral contact I received was from two specialties I had not requested. The nurse practitioner then prescribed two medications to me to help while we waited on the specialist I was in dire need of. I was told if my prescriptions run out they would refill them since the referral was taking so long. After months of being ok, I was again in need of the prescriptions. First the man who answered the phone spoke very broken English, and kept saying their computers were down. When I called back 5 hours later, he very rudely told me they couldn't check a refill request until after business hours despite my pharmacy calling them for the refill request. I finally went to the office trying to get answers, and one polite lady in the front tried to help as another rude one behind her mumbled useless dribble. The doctor, who I had never met then took me into a hall in front of the entire staff and started saying how I needed to not have an attitude, and that they will not fill my medication. When asked about my referrals she said they didn't submit them. I was appalled, and when I asked her if this treatment was part of her Hippocratic oath she told me to leave the practice, and terminated the relationship. I have since filed a fraud insurance claim against them for submitting claims for medical test that were never consented to because they were not covered by my network, and I was unwilling to pay thousands out of pocket for this. Also I have filed a complaint with the Texas State Medical Board due to the doctor being unwilling to see or even treat a patient in an emergency situation. Be very careful using this practice, because patient health is not a priority for them. read more

I only give this office two stars because they figured out my thyroid problem ... However, they are terribly disorganized, have long wait times, and seem unable to call in a refill on a prescription. Dr. Sattar and her staff are effective, friendly, and efficient. This is a high-volume office and the wait times can be long, but the service you get makes it very worthwhile. Though Dr. Sattar may have many specialties, I can say that she is particularly good at Diabetic treatment and control. Very highly recommended. read more

This office is joke. While the medical staff is knowledgeable and looks outside of the box for treatment, the administrative staff is an embarrassment. They charged me and my insurance for the visit. It took me threatening to contact my insurance to report them before they refunded my money. I was willing to let that go, however a new incident has made me reconsider. They advertise help for ADD in children, yet when I called to ask their approach I was told I would have to schedule an appointment for $130. When I told the man on the phone I did not understand, I was not ready to enlist their service for treatment but wanted to know Dr. Satter's approach. He then hung up on me. They charge for the initial visit, then again to review your labs which basically is a printed bunch of mess that they do not bother to help you interpret. Do yourself a favor and find a holistic doctor who is excited about their services. They would then pass that excitement to their staff who could at least tell you their services. read more
