So yes, I have some anxiety and trouble sleeping. Because my medication is a benzodiazepine, Texas Health Family Care requires that I sign a 3-page contract every year, with all the things I promise not do with my medication. Like sell it. And they require that I have a urine test annually to make sure I'm not a drug addict or selling my medication. I'm taking ONE low-dose pill ONCE A DAY. So I can sleep. Because I have Stage IV cancer. This really does not make me feel cared for. It makes me feel shamed and unwanted. They have to cover their rear ends, but how hard would it be for Texas Health Family Care to bend the rules for CANCER patients who take 1 mg of a benzodiazepine per day? Really?

We like the Osteopathic approach to medicine and the emphasis on a wellness plan and appreciate that they do not shy away from application of prescription medication as part of that plan when it is warranted. Of greatest interest to us has been the thorough blood panels they offer that have been able to determine allergies, pre-diabetic indicators, and a host of other factors that assist with everything from weight loss goals to sleep. We know several other people who come here specifically for that service and have been helped greatly by it. The one caveat, and I think the possible reason for the negative reviews, is an occasional communication issue with the staff. I have seen this as minor, and possibly even cross-cultural as the staff is very international. I like this, personally, and am ok with different communication styles. We have been required to follow up about something that was promised in a few instances. But, by no means has it brought our overall experience down. I'd recommend Oakmont Wellness Center for general medicine and osteopathic wellness!

This ended up becoming the most unprofessional experience i've ever had a medical office. After an extensive wait (40 minutes out front, 30 minutes the back ), I finally had a visit from "Ms. Kelly." She proceeded to give me a hard time about not having had a regular check up in a few years. She then asked me an extensive lists of hobbies and was dismayed that I was not into any of the ones she listed. She acted like I was being a difficult, sulky child when i was there to talk about testosterone. Finally, she showed me pictures of her horses instead. She asked me only one question about what indicators might have caused me to make the appointment - and my answer was one that should have lead to more questions. She asked no more questions but instead directed the assistant to start finding codes to use for insurance lab billing. I had not agreed to the labs yet. After I was literally bullied into getting the lab work without being convinced about whether it was necessary, I went for my blood draw. It was a difficult blood draw and I was still trying to recover from the disturbing visit that I had just experienced. They called a week later and .... the testosterone test was never done ! The lab never did it. ! I gave 4 vials of blood , and the item that was supposed to be tested was not tested. No results. They are trying to talk me back into doing another one since they literally DID NOT TEST the item for which I had my blood drawn. Icing on the cake. Lost a day of my life, got bullied and laughed at by Dr/Ms. Kelly , got no additional info about whether. might be a testosterone candidate , and then they didn't test the blood I had drawn. Complete fail on their part during every step of the process.

The doctor I was seeing at Palm Primary care wasn't that great anyway, so maybe it's for the best that I got turned away so I could find a better doctor.
