Coming back to riding after a long time (over 25 years) I was full of apprehension about the kind of experience it was going to be. But all the online reviews had nothing but praise for Kelsey and her organization, and they were right. The horses are super--well-trained, and Kelsey, the owner, is very thoughtful and deliberate about the horse she pairs you with for each lesson. The staff are all polite and helpful; much more than any other place I've looked into. Last, Kelsey is second to none in patient, thorough instruction of horsemanship. She's willing to match her pace to yours, and helps a student progress without feeling pushed. I feel her personality also sets up an environment that's collaborative and friendly, which has not always been the case in barns where I've ridden. Prices are reasonable, the location is lovely, and the instructor will make you want to come back again and again! Highly, highly recommended. By far one of the best places to learn from the ground up and beyond. I been going for over 8 years now and have learned to do low jumps, bareback, cantering, posting, tacking, and grooming. I think I went to every barn imaginable and found Oakridge Riding Club to be the best. Kelsey and Kirby are awesome trainers! I love how they paired me up with different horses depending on my skill. Their explanations prior to and during lessons make complete sense and they never ask me to do something that I'm not comfortable doing. They have lessons during the week and on Saturday, and Kelsey will always give me a heads up via text, email or even a phone call about the availability for me and my son. My 5 year old son has taken lead line lessons with them as well as attended their winter camp. By the time the winter session was over he was already posting! The children ride for a pretty long time and then do a lot of fun, horse related things like hosing down the horses or helping to feed them. They also have fantastic crafts which was the highlight of my son's day lol. It is definitely worth the money! Speaking of money, their rates are the best as well. You really do get the better deal with packages and no other barn can beat their camp prices. We're so happy to be a part of place! read more

Oakridge Riding Club is a fantastic place to board your horse. The feed is great quality & the arena has nice footing. There are many trails to ride on around the ranch for those calm Sunday afternoons. Lots of boarding options from box stalls with in and outs to pens to pastures. There are options for everyone. I personally do not take lessons at ORC but just board my horse here. But from what I have seen, the lessons always are a learning experience for the students. They learn to brush, tack up, first aid, bathing, riding, and showing. ORC is a very calm, drama free facility to board and take lesson at. read more

Oakridge was an excellent first experience for my 5 year old daughter! She did the summer horse camp and I felt comfortable leaving her there 9am-12pm each day because she was in good hands (and hooves)! Kelsey, Kirby and all her helpers were so knowledgable, professional, friendly, and caring, the barn was clean, organized and safe. Long overdue review went here in September I believe to have lessons. Love the place and vibe. Everyone is friendly and very nice. Kelsey is an amazing woman, I had both private and group lessons with Kelsey. My first lesson was private and I really didn't have any expectations and absolutely no experience ever on a horse. She paired me up with Cooper, lovely horse by the way. He was really good at listening, he wasn't too fast and not too slow, he was just perfect for me. I started doing western, which is a very comfortable saddle than an English saddle. The next lesson I had was a group lesson and I tried English. I really liked English, although it is more work with your legs. I was really blow away at the group lessons because I thought she wouldn't be able to focus or critique me in a way that I needed, but she actually did a really good job at giving everyone her attention and being able to tell people what they could improve on. I had stop taking lessons due to getting sick but I plan to start back in January and can't wait. read more

This may be the best place you can find for a great lesson at an affordable price. Kelsey is THE best trainer I have ever come across, and yes I have seen many of them... she knows exactly what each of her students' strength and what they need more work on. Also the barn environment there is just amazing, you will make friends with everyone there. It's not one of those snotty children/pushy parents places. Our 12 year old daughter has been riding here for almost a year. Since day 1, she has felt very confident and safe around the awesome horses that Kelsey and Kirby have at the ORC. They have the most gentle and patient horses around. Kelsey and Kirby also have a very patient and laid back attitude that makes a beginner feel welcome and at ease. I recently took 2+ months of riding lessons from Kelsey at the Oakridge Riding Club. I absolutely loved it and thought Kelsey was one of the best teachers I have ever had. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming to riders of all levels. I started from a beginners level but felt tremendous improvement after each and every lesson. This was largely due to Kelsey. She's attentive and understanding, but at the same time she challenges you to improve. I stopped riding for awhile mainly due to time constraints, but would definitely go back in the near future! The horses are show quality, not your typical overworked school horses, and the teachers understand the needs and limitations of a very young rider like my daughter. Great environment to learn to ride. Kelsey is really great with kids and horses. She is super awesome with beginners, has several nice school horses, and is incredibly nice.
