I was told he loaded perfectly onto the trailer and he unloaded in the middle of the night like a champ. This team really knows their stuff and they really care about their horses/clients. There is a sink with soap to wash hands and a porta potty on location. A short walk away is the public restroom for the Rancho Potrero trailhead that is fairly new. For camp there was temperature screening upon arrival. For the trail rides there was a limit of 5 (family members or family pods), age 7 and up, and not more than 200 lbs. My 9 year old son enjoyed the camp more than the trail ride as it taught him basics and provided more opportunities to interact with the horses. He was the only boy at camp but he really likes animals. They went out on short walking rides only, which was plenty for my son. The trail ride was a full hour and we saw coyotes, hawks, and kites. Adults really enjoyed it, but it was a little long for the 7 year old. The other slightly unexpected occurrence was of the horses going through their natural bodily motions during the ride: fart, pee and poop. We were untouched, it just elicited alot of reaction from the kids. Since this is an outdoor activity, dressing for the weather is the main difference that will make your experience enjoyable. In July, we used thinner long pants with vented athletic wear shirts. For Nov, we wore jeans with double layered long sleeved shirts. They do not cancel except for extreme weather. Their website has more information about camps, lessons and rides. We had positive interaction and are grateful to have this facility close to us, and at a reasonable price. Definitely recommend and we would do it again.

When it was over she said for my daughter to come again next week for another private evaluation lesson. She said the owner, Michelle, would be there and would watch my daughter and decide which class to put her in. We got there and Michelle was nowhere to be found and two other kids were in my daughters "private evaluation lesson." So, it was a waste of our time and money because there was no evaluation and it wasn't private. Even so, I was hoping this place would work out. Erika was busy when the lesson was over but I texted her right away to see which classes they have available for my daughter. All the text got was a thumbs up. I didn't want to bother her and figured she would text me with class days and times soon. Well, it took her 6 days to text me back. She said to come again for another evaluation lesson the next day. I don't know why a place needs 3 evaluation lessons. We have been to many ranches and one lesson has sufficed. I guess they wanted to make extra money for less time. Erika seems to think we have nothing to do but sit around and wait for her text. I didn't answer her text until the next day and told her she could have texted me sooner as my daughter has a life besides this place. I also asked if she was going to refund some of our money that we are entitled to because my daughter did not have a private evaluation lesson the week before. Erika accidently sent me the text that she was obviously planning to send to Michelle. It said and I quote, "Can I tell her to fuck off please" Wow, really nice. We did nothing wrong here. What a horrible way to do business. If they would have kept things they way they should have been they would have another customer and most likely a leaser or boarder. Instead, this trashy Erika wanted to tell me to fuck off. I honestly don't know what all the good reviews are about. Probably friends of Michelle and Erika's.

He changed to brand new horse everytime I go there see him Im so moved to Jenna's amazing care. My horse tuned into Prince William. He is literally became shining!! I've been so busy and couldnt even go see him for weeks and even I couldnt see him I felt so reliable. Cause be is the evident how she care when I'm away. Contrast that with Elvenstar where the ponies are always clean and ready to go and the instructors very rarely miss a lesson. Also, in contrast to our first barn, there are a ton of young girls at Elvenstar for my daughter to make friends with and to ride with. She's made a couple great friends there. I'm glad we found Elvenstar. We're on our third leased pony in ~3 years because KK's skills are improving quickly and she's growing! The skill increase is a direct result of time in the saddle and KK's willingness to listen to and learn from Elvenstar's professional team. Barns, like horses, have personalities so Elvenstar may not be right for everyone. But it's been right for us for about three years and I can absolutely see it being our barn for many years to come.

I have been riding with Kathy Busfield at Four Oaks Farm for a while now. She is helping me train a…read moreyoung gelding, but also cares for my older mare in a retirement pasture. Her training style is clear and encouraging. She works in life lessons for her younger riders and keeps her more experienced riders working on fundamentals in interesting ways, while also presenting new challenges to keep us growing. In all of this, she is attentive to the horse's needs to foster a happy and supportive partnership. I cannot speak highly enough about the care my horses receive. They are checked on by barn staff multiple times per day; they get four feedings each day, which is a nice replication of their natural grazing style; and Kathy has arranged for my older mare, who has some health problems, to have a prosthetic brace applied and removed regularly to keep my girl as comfortable and healthy as she can be. She goes above and beyond to do what is in the horse's best interest. Since I can't keep them at home, Four Oaks Farm is the next best thing.

Liv had just turned 11 in June. That transformation came from her determination, extraordinary training, countless hours of work, and a community that supported her every step of the way. Foxfield has genuinely changed the trajectory of Liv's life. Katie is a Foxfield trainer and has been at the heart of Liv's riding journey. She is one of the most incredible human beings I have ever met. She meets Liv exactly where she is, challenges her, gives her tough love when she needs it, supports her when she struggles, and lets Liv drive the show. Liv asks for more, and Katie helps her earn each next step. She sees the whole child, not just the rider, and the trust between them is extraordinary. Katie has been the most important individual influence in Liv's development, while also being part of an exceptional team. Janie, Chloe, and Lara teach Liv in group lessons, each bringing something different and valuable. Shelly somehow runs everything, so outsiders may think of her only as the barn manager, but everyone at Foxfield knows she is also an incredible trainer--if you know, you know. Jaime has helped all three of my daughters learn the real foundations of horsemanship--from tacking up and mounting correctly to helping Liv fit the proper bit and girth when she leased her first horse. Before Liv's first show, an incredible high school senior from her own school spent an entire day helping her groom both horses, organize her tack, pack the tack box, and create a checklist. On show morning, we arrived before sunrise behind a close friend's car. Two older Foxfield girls jumped out to open the gate, and I watched Liv immediately relax. She knew she was not doing this alone. We had two horses to wrap and load, tack boxes to organize, and no real understanding of the process. The Foxfield kids simply stepped in. Some were showing; others came only to help. They prepared horses, loaded equipment, set up at the show, managed Liv's transitions between horses, answered questions, and anticipated what she needed. They did not just cheer for her--they made the day possible. They were calm, competent, hardworking, and generous. I have never met a better group of young people, and Liv gets to call them her friends. I have three daughters who could not be more different. Liv would happily live at the barn. My middle daughter loves horses but wants to progress at her own pace. My youngest is athletic and fearless in most areas of life, but riding still overwhelms and confuses her. Foxfield understands that they are three different children. They meet each one exactly where she is and make her feel that she belongs. There are not enough words to explain what Katie has given Liv, or what the entire Foxfield team and community have given all three of my daughters. I trust these people with my children. There is no higher compliment I can give. Foxfield creates capable riders, but more importantly, it creates capable humans--people who work hard, take responsibility, notice when someone needs help, step in without being asked, and make the people around them better.
