The Lamb Center used to be at the circle, but this newer location offers more services. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and Christmas will soon be here. Please consider volunteering here, or at least dropping by food, non prescription medications, or other items of need. This area has a real high cost of living. Before you think "not in my backyard," yes it is. We have a considerable amount of people, who simply can't afford a rent or a mortgage. Many of the homeless or vulnerable, whom are helped by this center, are often employed. Is mental illness and substance abuse factors? Of course. Yet Dave and his staff here don't judge people. They help to uplift them. There have been many success stories here. Alcohol and drug abuse classes are regularly held here. Also the staff helps people better themselves, and increase the chances of full time work. All are welcome here, regardless of faith or none. What matters is the humanity. Here it exists everyday. By all means spend time here, and you will find this truly special. All people deserve a meal and warm clothes, as everyone is one paycheck away.

Lori & Joan are two elderly ladies who are the lunch volunteers are VERY unkind and do not embody Christian values or the Lamb Center. It is so sad that they both are so rude to the poor and homeless people, who deserve to be treated with dignity and respect which they do NOT. They both continue to be abusive to the homeless people, and it's unacceptable. Upper management has been notified several times of their abusive behavior, please do not allow Lori or Joan to volunteer again.

There's a number of large rooms if you want to host a conference or a community fair. There's also a bunch of classes you can sign up for, for a fee. (Vienna residents pay less.) I also like how close this place is to the center of Vienna. You could ride your bike here since the bike trail passes right by it. You could walk here right after going to the library. You could grab lunch and then walk over. You could hop over while your kid is playing baseball. In fact, car is probably the most annoying way to get here since the parking can be a pain, especially if you come during the Saturday morning farmers market when part of the parking lot is closed.

I asked her a few questions and she was NOT going to use some of those items. They would be trashed. She was anxious to chit chat with a man unloading from a truck. When he left I assumed she would help me, but she got on the telephone and would not acknowledge me. No thank you, no help. I'd traveled two hours one way, all I asked is to know she could use what I was giving. I won't be back.

The quality of their Shelters environment is hazardous to women & children. There's no real…read moreaccessible walking trail or safe parking cause the distance to the door is dangerous . According to Exterminator professionals the Director of Programs Megan Goffney ignores their pest control needs knowing rat holes complaints were made by local SGI members. The grievances made to the CEO J. Meyer but he doesn't seem to care that the staff keep their shelter like a living ghetto. The poor conditions of infestation within the walls & floors were so disgusting in June they kick women out for complaining to the owners. If their rat issues continue to persist or they refuse to get their standards up to County Code they risk the action of NBC4 media investigations if they don't clean up the trash outside the grounds & get their buildings in compliance they'll probably be condemned. They use Federal Grant money like faucet water to pay their wages & salaries instead of keeping the living environments of their buildings under code. They put the health of their residents at risk to diseases just for the sake of having a job.

Shelter House first came on to my radar a few years ago when I was searching for a homeless shelter…read morein the area that accepted food donations that were leftover from a company holiday party (something that is surprisingly hard to find in the area). I became interested in their mission which was to provide safe housing and life skills to homeless families due to domestic violence situations and soon started volunteering every Monday afternoon in their children and teen's room while their mothers attended professional development sessions. I am not going to lie -- it was tough work! I was a 24 year old girl working with a wide range of children ages 2 - 16 with all different personalities and needs all by myself. I would spend my afternoons cuddling children, attempting to play football, teaching the Soulja Boy, and picking up blocks. But after coming in week after week, I found my groove and found myself falling in love with these children and their families. I actually tasted my first bite of daal here and it is now the first dish I order whenever I go to an Indian or Pakistani restaurant because one of the mothers at the shelter used to cook me an extra plate whenever I was there. I unfortunately had to leave the program because of time constraints but I am writing this review in hopes that someone who is looking to give a little piece of their heart finds this place.
