Hood area. We weren't sure how to get there, so we stopped by the Zigzag Ranger Station (503) 622-3191 for directions and information to get there. To get there, take Hwy 26 to Forest Road 2618 (about a mile past the town of Wemme). Follow 2816 for about 4 miles to the campground. It's a first come, first serve campground. Sites are $20 a night for a car. It's $10 with a Golden Age (senior) Pass. Sites 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are on the river side. We were lucky enough to snag site 8, which was the last river spot available. Sites allow one car, and if you have 2, then you'll have to pay an additional $8 to park the car. There are only pit toilets, no running water, no RV hookups, but there is a dumpster available. The surrounding is absolutely GORGEOUS!! It's so picturesque, beautifully green and quiet. With trees all around and the roaring river as the background, you really get the feeling of being remote. I highly, highly recommend camping at Green Canyon and be sure to try and get one of the sites near the river. If you have time, you might want to relax by the river or go on a hike.The trail is right by the river.

Trillium…read morehas been plagued lately with fisherman that throw fish carcasses back in the water, resulting in a stench during high heat, and the need to navigate around them. Trillium also gets mountain run-off, so it's colder. Frog Lake is exactly what it sounds like. There are marshy areas with tadpoles and frogs. The nice thing is that it isn't always super packed, there's always somewhere to settle, and the water is easily accessible. I frequent Lacamas in Camas, and the downside is that the main entrance is super rocky. Frog Lake isn't, which makes it kid-friendly. $10 to park. Bathrooms are basically outhouses. Dumpster on the main road before leaving. The road has some major potholes on the way up, but hopefully you have an SUV.

Many brought chairs, umbrellas, grills, tables, water sports equipment... The was a friendly man driving a golf cart maintaining this picnic area.

When we showed up to our site and started…read moreto set up we were informed while setting up our tents that we had a "public trail" going directly through our campsite, allowing other individuals staying in the campground to awkwardly walk through our campsite. The funny part is, this so called trail is hardly visible to the eye and went absolutely no where other than to some random sink under a cover. One of the individuals staying with us went to ask a camp host a question (around 5pm), and was told "I'm off duty" instead of taking a few minutes to simply provide good hospitality, they let it be known that they were being inconvenienced and didn't make any efforts in helping direct our questions to another host that may have been "on duty"...should I mention they only tried asking a question since they saw the host walking by (If someone smiles and says hello would they have said they're off duty?) The fire pit in our campsite was so awkwardly placed next to the parking pad and some random wood fence that you could maybe have a total of two chairs next to it. As for showers, not one of us was even able to see them. Do to COVID they may have had a change with hours (No problem!) but 10am - 6pm...really? it made it impossible for any of us to even shower simply because we ended up driving the 30 minutes to a different day use because even the swimming area is so small and crummy. I have been coming to campgrounds in this area since I was a child but I really have to say this place is a complete joke. As for the site it's self, maybe it would be okay for a trailer or RV but they should advertise it when someone is making reservations because I plan on letting others know to save their time and money to enjoy camping at other near by parks that have friendly camp host, showers available and a firepit that's able to be enjoyed. Everyone who joined us on this trip left very disappointed.

I was a camp counselor at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp for three summers while in high school and between…read morehigh school and college more years ago than I care to admit, and it remains one of the most profound influences on my life of all. I haven't been back or visited camp for years, but the memories are still vivid. We did all sorts of activities with our campers with varying disabilities, even taking trips up to Timberline Lodge, and of course did all the crafts, archery, swimming, and other traditional things that any child participates in at camp. My campers taught me a lot more than I probably ever taught them, and we had a great time doing it, with lots of laughter. I remember many of them very fondly. At the time I was a counselor, the camp had a trout pond stocked by the forest service, and I became a crack fish cleaner and packer. I also learned what must have been dozens of campfire songs, and somehow have remembered many of those to this day. I'm thrilled to see Kiwanis Camp still surviving and thriving. My best wishes to them as they continue forward with a wonderful tradition of service and fun.

I found an open spot by the creek, when her and I went up to the spot, my tent, chairs and belongings were gone. Someone decided to steal my camping belongings. Now, my kid has to go without camping because of someone's mean demeaner. I just hope someone would have the heart to return it to the Carson dollar General or Texaco no questions asked. I just want my stuff back please.

Surrounded by tall tress and a beautiful creek which, If you are daring enough to take a dip, be careful of the swift current. There are very limited utilities here - merely outhouses and one or two well pumps for water. No hand sanitizer in the outhouses. But the campground hosts were very nice and accommodating. They sell firewood for $6 a bushel and are quite strict about bringing in your own. Overall, a wonderful, affordable camping experience. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

If you know, you know: half that game is set around this lake, and I was not about to drive past it like some kind of NPC with no curiosity stat. Best impulsive decision of the trip. Paddled out with Mount Hood just looming over the water like it was posing for a postcard, completely unbothered by how often I stopped paddling to just stare at it. Meanwhile my wife set up her easel on the shore and turned the whole afternoon into her own personal plein air session, easily the most peaceful "side quest" either of us has been on. Cody, the kayak guy, deserves a raise. Genuinely fantastic and easygoing, knew the lake, made the whole rental process painless. If there's a loyalty program for Cody specifically, sign me up. Then the burgers. After paddling and pretending to be artistic by association, we did not expect resort burgers to go this hard. No notes. Zero zombies, zero motorcycle gangs, just a quiet lake, a great view, and an unplanned detour that ended up being the highlight of the drive. Highly recommend taking the exit.

This was a decent camping place. There is potable water near the bathrooms. I believe there are two…read morebathrooms for the campground and they are pit toilets, so no flushing water and no sinks. They do have hand sanitizer. It was pretty dark and hard to see anything in the bathrooms even in daylight hours, but maybe that is preferred for this style of bathroom. Seems like they clean the bathrooms pretty often, as it didn't smell at all. We stayed on the side away from the lake but it's less than five minutes to walk to the lake and a nice view of mount hood. Lots of trees, so lots of shade. Bring mosquito repellent because this place has lots of bugs

Its getting harder and harder to get a weekend reservation but I think they are putting in more Campgrounds. I know they are in the process of upgrading all the current campsites. I was told that would take place.... years ago, but they're actually doing it now. Timothy Lake is a very popular lake. The water is clean and clear. The fishing is good, depending on where the fish are that day. Even if you get skunked, it's still good to just sit and look at God's creation. So peaceful and beautiful. I catch crayfish when we go. My Wife and I are the only ones who eat them and that's fine with us. We scarf em down. Butter everywhere. Can't wait for next year. I have a new bait option I want to use. The Camp Hosts are always nice. I think they remember our little Smoo Bear and us from previous campouts. The grounds are always clean. There are also PGE Employees patrolling the grounds but also Clackamas County Sheriff's regularly roll through. So trouble gets rooted out. I've never had a problem. On occasion, people get loud. And the Hosts take care of it. I've seen people try and sneak in in the middle of the night and get busted. I always thought that was dumb to even try. You have to drive by the Host Site just to get in. Dumb. You cant bring your own wood! If your caught. They'll make you throw it all out or leave. They sell bundles of wood for $6.00. I figure you'll need $18.00 of wood a day. More if your planning on cooking over a wood fire. Most site's allow up to 6 tents per site. You can have 1 Vehicle per site, any other Vehicle's will be $6.00 a day per Vehicle. They get you from both sides. It seems a bit spendy but after weeks of work. Your sitting next to the fire. Beer in hand, laughing with family. You realize how happy you are to be camping and you thank God for your life. My Sister is our Reservation Queen. She's already planning on being ready to reserve our next trip when that date arrives. God Bless you Red. I am ready to put in vacation days. Cant wait for our next campout.

And, it had plenty of space for a car (or two) to pull into. And, then we had a separate area to set up a tent in. It was perfect for camping with our 2 dogs; we got a nice private area by the lake and the Dogs. I was able to reserve a spot online through recreation.gov and it was easy! And, Steve the camp host, was a delight! He was very approachable and friendly, it was nice interacting with him and talking to him. Overall, the spot was quiet and had beautiful scenery! And, less bugs/mosquitos then I've seen in other similar camp spots in the same geographic area for that time of year. And, also it was just a 20 minute drive to Smith Rock from this camp Site, so it was very do-able!
