The Oasis is so much fun! Everyone who works there is very friendly and gracious. Cocktails are creatively mixed and served elegantly. They have some of the best shows, and the ambience of the club is perfect for theater, music, comedy and of course, DRAG! . I just saw Back In Business, San Francisco native Matthew Martin's amazing cascade of classic characters, from a 70's Susan Hayward to a classic Judy Garland! It was a very well done show. Matthew Martin is amazingly talented and funny. Costumes were on point- well done and easy to recognize the characters he seamlessly transformed into. Loved his witty rapport with the audience as Bette Davis or whatever form he shape-shifted into. I'm not sure which was my favorite, but Kate Hepburn (from Lion In Winter) and Peggy Lee were at the top of my list! read more

I have been to Oasis many times and was thrilled that it had been saved and able to stay open. Which is what makes this such a hard review to write. The shows have always been amazing and I will go back to see some of them. However, I can't say I'll be back for anything else. I went for Dore Alley Fair. I waited in line an appropriate amount of time no issues there. Paid the entry went it in and ordered a drink. I asked the bartender if he could cash a larger bill that the ATM had given me and he said yes but it may be a lot of 5's, 10's and some 1's. No problem there. The music was good, crowd was good having a great time. After drink three I decided to go out and get some food from the truck that was just outside the club... literally, you opened the door to leave and you are standing in front of the truck. When I went to pay for my food it was then I realized something was not right. I paid and while I waited counted what was in my wallet and I was off by $40. This has happened to me before at Oasis but thought maybe this.. maybe that ... happened and gave the benefit of the doubt. etc... Now it is just before 7:30 pm and I go to enter the club and I am denied. They announce no more entry into the club for anyone ... the club is full. I showed them my stamp and said "but I have a stamp..." They said it didn't matter and closed the door on me, literally. First what is the point of paying and getting a stamp if you can't leave and return, I didn't even go but a few feet away and when I walked out there was still plenty of room in there. Secondly, How is it possible that a club that size is full at 7:30 pm on Sunday even when it id Dore Alley Fair? So while there shows I will go and see because I enjoy them I am not going to pay a door fee, spend $16 per cocktail ($14 + $2 tip) to be treated so rudely and to be ripped off by a bar tender. read more

A friend wanted to go out and found this place. I didn't know what to expect to be honest but I'm always down to try new things so we bought tickets online and decided to go at the very last minute. The theme was Twisted Disney. Some people wore pretty cool costumes. The place is really nice! It has chandeliers and a bar at the entrance. Restrooms are close to the dance floor and also upstairs. They have a rooftop to smoke if you're into that, or just have some air. Everyone is very friendly and I really liked that the security guy did some rounds inside as well. Made me feel safe. I didn't drink anything that night but I saw they had non alcoholic options as well. After a while with go-go dancers (too much skin haha), with a great DJ (can't remember his name), the show started. Oh wow! The costumes, everything was incredible. I had so much fun! Came here to experience their Halloween event, Hell Hole, and it was sooo fun and a great opportunity to explore the venue. There was a long line when we arrived, but it was moving and they kept us entertained while waiting for entry. The place was actually a lot bigger than I expected. Yes perhaps there's somewhat of a dungeon kinda feel with the lack of windows inside, but that actually made it a lot more appealing to me. Plus there's a staircase that goes up to the roof if you really wanna get some air. There was a lot going on out there this past weekend, haunted mazes, aerialists and fire dancers, and spectacular decor as well as a small Christmas themed bar with playful cocktails to go along with that (yes, for halloween). And the haunted mazes were more interactive and entertaining than scary, so that was pretty cool. They went all out with the decor and entertainment, props to the organizers! Inside there are two main rooms, one including a small lounge area and catwalk type of stage, where a costume contest and drag show took place later in the evening the Saturday I attended. The whole event was wild, and the venue was perfect for it. Three different bar areas, so it never really took long to get drinks (strong drinks), and all of the people I met throughout the night had lots of personality (both workers and attendees), which made my experience even more enjoyable. Some of the language and behavior here may be inappropriate in so many ways, so if you are easily offended, this place probably isn't for you. I'd say Oasis is more ideal for guests who are open-minded, just out to have a good time, those who appreciate the art and people all around and don't make a fuss about the small stuff. Cuz you certainly will not find perfection here, but you will be entertained, whether it's from people-watching or the actual entertainment. Cool spot for sure, and great way to spend Halloween! read more

Went there for the first time pride weekend Saturdah for a Reba impersonator show and had a great time! Clean space, clean bathrooms, & plenty of them. A bar in the rear, sf price drinks. Dropped $52 on 2 doubld shots of Titos & Jack. The bouncer was quick & front staff sat us quickly as well. Its not a huge venue which is great for this type of event. My first time here in many years. Tonight, I came for "Baloney" for the first time. I had a fabulous time. Everyone did an exemplary job in making me feel welcome. I am disabled and appreciated a place to sit , as I can no longer stand in one spot , for long, without having to do yoga poses to strech. I try to give everywhere I go the benefit of the doubt, but I'm severely disappointed with Oasis and their bouncer. I will preface this with I didn't actually go into the establishment, so please keep that in mind when taking my review into account. Last Saturday my group of friends, my boyfriend, and I had been bar hopping all night in celebration of pride. After leaving the last bar we saw that Oasis would still be open for several hours and was fairly close to where we were. While in line we spoke with other potential patrons, discussing whether a $40 entry free was worth it (I wouldn't have minded paying it tbh). It was also unclear whether it was card or cash only, because what the bouncer was stating contradicted what the cashier was telling guests. The whole time mind said bouncer was being quite rude and yelling at potential guests and passersby's. Like I said I really try to give the benefit of the doubt to people, I know what it's like to work a stressful job and interact with belligerent customers, but even after my group and I had gotten out of line the bouncer was still insisting we step off the sidewalk and into the street. I'm sure this bar is lovely and doesn't want their community to feel uncomfortable; but their staff that night made it very hard to feel welcomed and encouraged to have a good night. read more

Great show, and there was air conditioning / strong ventilation blasting all along the walls of the performance space, so the complaints here about the theatre being hot may be a thing of the past. But the pre-show and intermission music was horribly loud. I was wearing ear plugs and I still have ringing in my ears a day later. It was painful and made conversation while waiting for the show to start difficult. There is no reason for the music to be that loud. Would you please turn it down a bit? And thank you for getting rid of the "convenience fee" for tickets! read more

This place is fantastic. We got $10 tickets off Goldstar for a Cher Cabaret show. You have to order two drinks (our bill for two wines, one beer, and a Melon Stand cocktail was $46 before tip) The only negative is there are NO prices anywhere for the drinks. It started at 7:20 pm with a 15 minute intermission and was over about 9 pm Each singer that came was better than the last one and they all were incredible. The host was very funny. We are in shock how talented everyone is at this venue . I swear some of them sang better than Cher! It was the end of a perfect day in San Francisco during the marathon weekend festivities, involving a 20 mile bike ride. read more

I have been to this club a couple of times now and recently I have been disappointed by false advertising. My friend and I went to the club for the Holy Trinity Night (Sabrina / Charli xcx / Chappell Roan) and it was marketed as a pop dance night. My friend and I were so excited to hear and sing along to some of our favorite songs, but it turned out to be house remixes where you could barely understand or hear the original song... I felt like the songs were butchered and SO REMIXED!! I felt like I could have gone to any bar and hear the same thing. It would have been 100% fine if they had marketed the night as a house dance party with a pop theme / with these artists, but to market it as a POP DANCE NIGHT, it was extremely disappointing to not hear at least Some of the songs as they are. We thought we would give the club a second chance with a different DJ, but its a problem if you're not gonna play the pop music you advertised... If you like house music this is the bar for you. Edit: Response to Owner- Thank you for your response. I do acknowledge the Tay vs Bey may have not been a good critique on the advertising. I've removed that from my review. What a great time. I had the privilege to see Mr. Lady Zen. It was a small gathering but wow were they amazing. The audience was so great and interactive. The lighting, the stage, the energy makes for a great venue. The drinks were strong and just right hand the bartenders were kind and cute. Oh and the decor...lovely. We enjoyed after her being on 997Now BayClub Fridays with Benny Shan & GREG (wasnt for him, Heklina would of never been on the city's GLBTQ Radio Station supportive Morning Show and Pride w/e), we wouldn't of known to visit, not once, but twice in one week, their shows! What a great space to perform and feel free and to be who you are without fear and hateful comments, just fun and all out, not jus a DRAG...nor Race. Maybe RuPaul will drop in, Donna Sachet sure has! Oasis is a wonderful venue. I mostly attend their Saturday night Princess shows and it always fun. Depending on the theme, it can get pretty crowded, so I recommend arriving before 11pm if you can. The drag performers are extremely creative and Kochina Rude and Lisa Frankenstein have amazing comedic energy. I've also attended their parody shows and the cast have such great charisma and chemistry. Drinks are average price at around $11-$20 depending on what you order. I will say that sometimes the crowd can get a little catty, but that's to be expected in SF at any queer bar and not at the fault of the establishment. read more

Stand back! Stand back! In the middle of my room I did not hear from you It's alright, it's alright To be standing in a line (Standing in a line) To be standing in a line I would cry... I was scratching my head wondering why Oasis was listed among the hot new businesses in San Francisco on Yelp. After all, I came here when I was a wee lad back sometime in the last century when we danced on the plexiglass floor that covered the indoor swimming pool. I remember how cool it was when the roof opened up. I forget what decade it was but platforms may have been involved and perhaps some royal blue polyester. After all, I was an Asian. Still am but that's when I had an image to maintain. I'm not sure what that image was except maybe weird Asian guy wearing polyester and platforms. Even though I've lived just a few blocks away for years now, I had no idea it had closed and reopened with frequency as my clubbing days are but a distant memory now. Or so I thought when Jamie W. suggested we catch an almost-midnight Mother show, a tribute to Stevie Nicks. I was hesitant since I didn't view Stevie so much as a drag icon like Cher or Barbra, but for $10, the risk was quite minimal. I had no idea Mother is the latest incarnation of Trannyshack who have given me fits of giggles on YouTube with drag versions of classic TV moments like the Barbra/Judy duet, "Get Happy/Happy Days Are Here Again". Brilliant stuff. Anyway, we waited patiently under the disco kleig lights (photo: http://bit.ly/1KsLINX) for the show to begin, while hipsters both young and aging were decked out in their best White Witch regalia. The curtain was finally raised to spotlight Heklina, one of the club's impresarios dressed in a Stevie-curled blonde wig and flowing white, lip-syncing to "If Anyone Falls" as barely dressed dancers pranced around him (photo: http://bit.ly/1JaWpWM). He was a hilarious emcee who described his talent succinctly: "I come out, I twirl, I walk back and sit down." Heklina even recalled the treadmill Stevie walked on, the one with the Christmas lights during the "Stand Back" video, a kitschy MTV-generation moment, and I think I was the only one in the club who recalled it. The performers were really into their interpretations of Stevie's songbook, that's for sure, with my favorite likely "Stand Back" choreographed as the high school prom finale in "Carrie" (photo: http://bit.ly/1ECDyxl). Ever since Marlena's closed in Hayes Valley, it's been downright difficult to find a good-spirited drag show in this city, and I don't count Asia SF where the men are frankly too pretty. Heklina and company are more my idea of what classic drag performers are about: funny, observant and totally into their queenly tributes. The show went well past 2AM, and frankly I'm usually fast asleep on the sofa with the TV on something predictable like CreateTV or maybe even MeTV during a Mary Tyler Moore rerun marathon. But for entertainment as good as this, I'm willing to take a grandfatherly nap in the afternoon because... My BF and I haven't really been out in a while and for that matter on a date in a looooooong time. We went to Oasis and this was our first dine in experience together and we felt completely comfortable. The owner and staff took extra precaution with everyones safety and requires everyone to stay at their assigned seats. Everyone is required to wear a mask the entire time unless drinking or eating. We went on a Sunday and they had thai food. We tried a little of everything and the food was DAAA-licious! We also really enjoyed the show. It was super fun and entertaining. We are so glad we stopped by. We will definitely be coming back!! read more

I love this venue! All of the staff are very sweet. Inside the venue has such a cool layout. There is a cool outside patio you can smoke on. My only complaints are if you are under 5'7 like myself, then you will most likely struggle to see. It would be nice if the catwalk was just a bit higher so the shortys can see better. This venue gets some of the biggest names in drag so it gets really packed with most of their shows being sold out. I personally think they over pack the venue a bit. It gets real cramped and makes it even harder to see. I know they gotta make their money.... But I honestly think they could make more money if they didn't pack it the way they do because then people can access the bar better. It gets to the point where you can't get to the bar for a drink so they are probably losing out on a lot more than they realize. These are why my review is a 4 star instead of a 5. Hopefully they don't pack it as much in the future and then I'll be back on here to change to a 5 star! Regardless of these things I love this place and will continue coming every other month! read more

Very nice indeed! We'd planned a Happy Hour for our LGTB employee group here at Oasis and being German I was obviously über-punctual: the place was empty except for bartender Christiano who welcomed me with a warm smile. If you've ever been in a bar by yourself, you probably know that it's not the most desirable situation: either you've been stood up or you don't have any friends. Well, at that point I couldn't rule out either one of these factors, but Christiano was a true star and offered me a free drink for being the first one. We then chatted about all sorts of things: gay dating apps being one of the topics. I was almost disappointment when my fellow gay colleagues finally showed up... Oasis is a bar/show: while I was sitting at the bar I saw them prepping for a Drag Rock Musical in the next room. I like Oasis for not being a pretentious and all pretty place: it's a down-to-earth bar for real people. And I surely want to come back one of these days to attend one of their shows. read more

Drove up from SJ to see BenDeLaCreme's Inferno A Go Go and had a blast. Everyone was friendly, prices were reasonable, bathrooms were clean and the line moved quickly. We also stayed for Mother, featuring surprise guest Courtney Act, and even though it was super crowded everyone still made sure that others had room to stand and see the stage. DJ was great, also. I definitely did not come here for the food because that was super forgettable, but the drinks and laughs are a must. I have enjoyed many shows here, especially the drag shows here, and I have been happy to rent out the venue for one of my own shows. The staff and owners are awesome. The space is an LGBT space, unapologetically. The shows that run here are top notch and also full of WORKING ARTISTS that need to get PAID. So yea, there's usually a hefty cover to pay for the artists and to keep the lights on. I ain't mad. If that's the price of keeping an awesome queer space open in SF, SO BE IT! read more

Oasis is a club and performance space located in the industrial SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco. This place wasn't around when I lived in San Francisco, so I was glad to have the local SF friends suggest it. The venue hosts weekly rotating acts ranging from screenings of RuPaul's Drag Race to celebrity impersonators (like our night with "Joan Rivers") and musical acts. We were just glad to be sitting at the BACK of the room. It's always funny when the drag queens pick on others. Though, sometimes it does work out for us. Like the one time in Palm Springs -- when the drag queen joked that my husband and I looked too young to drink. Well, everyone else in the room was probably 80+, but we'll take it when we can get it! read more

Heklina, D'Arcy and Geoff are incredibly generous hosts to everyone (luckily everyone except loud, obnoxious, vulgar, trashy, corny bachelorette parties). Amazing staff, every single bartender, server, coat check, door people etc. etc. Icarus is the best though! Mother is a great show! Madame is a fantastic party! And every show they produce or host is wonderful. There is something there for everyone! And you may occasionally bump into a celebrity or two!
