It all happened so fast, but I never felt alone. Once my mom fell for the second time, I knew I no…read morelonger had the ability to care for her alone. Commuting home from work, I always passed Spring Hill and knew proximity-to-home wise, it was my best option. Little did I know, location would be eclipsed by the people I met and the experience my mother had in her last days. I walked in without an appointment, but out of desperation on a Friday morning and was introduced to my first friendly face, Rosa. Although not on duty as a tour giver that day, she took the time to give me a detailed walk through the beautiful facility, showing us the progress of their new renovations and answering some of my general questions. It was not the renovations that sold me, although mom was lucky enough to have a renovated room, but how Rosa treated all of the residents in the common areas and also how they responded to her. That kindness never retired. I began to move forward with the process of getting all of mom's finances and medical care/ medications in order when I met Shari. Shari is the director of the nursing team and a very very special human being. Her accessibility and communication skills are matched only by her compassion and the dignity she offered to my mother. Making multiple house calls in one week to assess my mom's condition and staying in constant contact with me during the process, Shari continued to go above and beyond throughout the entirety of my mother's stay at Spring Hill. On move-in day (an impressive one week after my initial, unannounced walk-in tour with Rosa) I met many dedicated workers who helped me with bringing in my mothers furniture. They helped me more than I could have ever imagined. Ken Halsey was the manager and he made me feel completely at ease. Very accessible by phone for me and was attentive to all of my questions/concerns. He was the one who was able to make it possible for my mother to get quality care quickly. Unfortunately, mom only spent about one month at Spring Hill before passing away, but I always felt like I was immediately part of their family. The place has a kindness that I am grateful for and appreciative of because my mom was at peace. When I came back, all of the staff would tell me how they loved working with my mother. It was more than just words. They had stories of how they enjoyed my mother and that made me feel that it was reciprocal. Overall, I will forever be grateful for the people such as Ken, Shari, and Rosa for taking care of my mother and letting her have the dignity to live her final days the way she enjoyed.

Management acts like they are going to do something, but never follow-through. She has the same lunch, every single day (grilled cheese) - that is if she's lucky enough to even have them remember to bring her meals. Her room has been infested with bugs and rodents (mice), and it took multiple phone calls and in-person complaints to actually have someone do something about it. The turnover there is tremendous - we've been through at least four executive directors, concierge, nurses and aides. The adage, "don't judge a book by its cover" certainly applies to SpringHills.

It took days for them to acquire and give her prescribed Robitussin for a cough. My mother's call bell to care for her colitis was answered by an aid that said she'd be right back. Almost an hour later, she was told that the aid had gone out to get food (and apparently forgotten about her). When I brought this to the attention of the nurse in charge, her first response was to blame the patient because "she has to press the bell for us to help her". She was visibly annoyed that a family member asked about her care because "I just told her that 2 minutes ago". After she was told that the bell was actually pressed, answered, and forgotten, she turned her back and walked out without a word. No apology. No treatment for my mother's condition. The nursing supervisor defended her because I'm a 6'2" guy and she "must have been intimidated" and felt unsafe. We were asked to bring in our own universal remote for the room television. For almost three weeks now, we've had nothing but a string of excuses for substandard care and lack of provisions. Avistacare is financially circling the drain, and it shows.

Arden Courts of Cherry Hill did a fantastic job of taking care of my mother for a 4 years period…read morebetween 2019 and 2023. My mother had failed to adapt to another facility and Arden turned out to be the perfect place for her. During my time there I met many other families in similar situations where other facilities had been unable to "handle" their loved ones, but Arden always had the magic touch. From a day to day perspective the care was superb, the food was good and the activities were varied and covered a wide range of ability levels. Unlike other nearby "luxury" facilities, Arden focuses on what the residents actually need and not what looks nice to the families. The residents who are mobile have free run of the facility and access to outdoors weather permitting. Use of a resident's room are limited as much as possible to keep them engaged in social activities. The professional staff were all top notch, with the facility director and nursing staff worthy of particular praise for both their everyday professionalism and going above and beyond when needed. Also worthy of note is that Arden Courts avoids requiring costly additional 1-on-1 care and will only send residents to the hospital when absolutely necessary. If a resident does end up at the hospital, it is literally located across the street minimizing the need for transport. Arden Courts is currently under the umbrella of a non-profit so as far as I am aware there is no private equity firm behind the curtain pushing to drive down costs. The Cherry Hill facility in particular is also very supportive of family members with access to numerous eat in/cook out activities, parties and field trips. At the end of my mother's journey they offered ample time to wrap up her room and have an open door policy for said family members to return interact with any persons they may have bonded with. Arden Courts of Cherry Hill 5/5, 10/10, 100% would recommend to a friend or family.

She was so very happy there. From the Maintenance man Louis (who also loves and cares for the residents as family), to the aides, nurses, and administrators the care was phenomenal! I cant say enough about this beautiful place. We will miss them all so much!

My husband and I moved my mom (Mercedes) into Brandywine in August of 2019 and everyone at Brandywine made mom feel so at home. Mom was placed in their hospice program which was exceptional. The nurses, aides and management were so attentive and cared for her in such a loving way. We receive weekly status updates on staff and residents, and more if necessary. Although the pandemic has created anxiety and concern, our family is grateful everyday she lives there. We cannot imagine her living anywhere else. Now, our mother plays bingo, poker, attends happy hour, and is involved in most activities. All done with small groups, scheduled, distanced, with masks. Our mother is living the last years of her life happy, healthy, and safe.

I wanted to take a moment to right this review and express my sincere gratitude for all that your team did for me and my family during such a difficult time. Your knowledge and expertise were invaluable in helping us navigate the complex world of elder care, nursing homes, social workers and estate planning. Your compassion and understanding made all the difference in the world. Mr Rothkoffs guidance and support helped us make informed decisions that we otherwise would have struggled with, I am so grateful for the peace of mind that you were able to provide. Your dedication to your clients is truly inspiring, and I feel so fortunate to have had you on our side. I especially appreciate the time you took to help us with Medicare applications. It can be such a daunting process, and your assistance made all the difference in ensuring that we were able to access the care that we needed. Thank you again for everything that you did for us. Your kindness and professionalism will never be forgotten. Chuck Gutleber and Family

It was a challenge to find a law firm that not only was affordable, but also had a team of social workers attached. Janie, Danielle, and Chelsea were always available. We never went to a care conference alone. And even if a social worker was new and we were learning together, I always had a team to go to to make sure I was on track with what I was advocating for for my mother when her facility was not doing it's job and trying to push us out. When it came time to apply for Medicaid for our mom, Shannon and the Rothkoff team helped us through it big time! That was a huge, stressful undertaking and I don't think we would have gotten through it as swiftly as we did without them. The other amazing aspect of the law firm is the community for caregivers they try to create. I was out of state and could unfortunately not attend events, but it was helpful to know that they are really in deep with caregiving and trying to find ways to support caregivers in all endeavors. Janie was the first social worker we met with and, although she has moved onto another job, we will forever be grateful for her and her support. And when my mom passed, Jerry Rothkoff and his staff sent me and my sister a condolence card and called to check in. Just to check in. It wasn't a business call I was expecting to close out our time with them, he literally just called to see how we were doing. It's been over a year and I'm still waiting on a condolence from my mom's facility. I would use Rothkoff Law Group again in a heartbeat! They have expertise but most importantly, a lot of heart that guides them.
