This was our first time eating at Oaxaca Restaurant in Selma but it won't be out last! Everything on the menu looks good! I got a the Tamale Oaxaquenos and I can honestly say it's one of the best tamales I've had in a long time. Not to mention it's huge and I was able to take a good amount home. My daughter had a chicken burrito with rice and beans and really enjoyed it as well! The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions and the manger was very welcoming! I based my last visit on the review left by other yelpers. My family and I decided to go to lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. We walked in and the place was pretty much interesting. There were only 2 other compadres sitting there and they were done with their lunch and just talking. We picked a table, sat down, and waited a good 10 minutes. Nothing. Barely a hello when we walked in. So, I stood up and grabbed us some menus and then the waitress brought us chips. Stale chips. So gross. We waited a few more minutes then walked out. Service just wasn't that great. We were there for a good 15+ minutes and all we got was chips. If your service isn't great, you won't get our business. read more

Not your typical Mexican food. First, the best iced tea I've had in forever. With key limes, it's perfect with this food. Next, the Negro Mole---not overly sweet. I enjoyed the tamale very much. Was returning to the Valley with family and checked out Yelp for Mexican restaurant recommendations between Fresno and Visalia. Came across Oaxaca Restaurant and decided from the heavily food positive reviews to check it out. What a find!! We ordered the Mole Negro and the memelas. Not all of the offerings were familiar to my family but what we ultimately ordered was perfectly prepared, presented and tasted delicious! The mole was perfectly seasoned as the flavor was deep and rich. The memelas, a light corn tortilla, not unlike a sope, yet lighter in texture and topped with beans and a variety of meats was equally delicious. A visit here is a real treat and the Oaxaca is a treasure to our community that needs to support small restaurants that wish to bring variety to our food landscape. read more

Horrible service! The waitress is rude. She kept having people move to different tables after they had sat down. Does not pay attention when taking orders. She brought my boyfriend a dish he didn't order and when we told her she said "we don't have what you wanted anyway" they didn't have most of the menu items they offer either. Table next to us ordered 4 different times and they had none of the dishes they wanted. Why have such a large menu if you can't offer it to your customers? Worse service ever! This place is good! When they first bring in the salsa and chips and the salsa is tasty you know the food is going to be good. I got a chicken burrito and it was very flavorful. I was lucky enough to come across Oaxaca Restaurant, thanks Yelp. Really really good place. This is not a burrito place or something. This is a very authentic oaxaca place with very good food with real mexican taste. I really loved this place and even that I live very far I will stop by whenever I get the chance. Restaurant is not fancy but was clean, with excellent service and very good food. I had and order of enchiladas de Mole and an order of memelas. Both of the dishes very delicious. Kinda a small mom and pops place , homemade style literally but the chips were store bought overall it was good . I would not order the michaladas here or the shrimp, they did not devein the shrimp on my beer and smelled a little too fishy or I would have ordered a cocktail de Cameron . A surprisingly nice variety of Oaxacan dishes which are prepared fresh and delicious, and served in large portions. Try the Clayuda which is a Mexican type of pizza-I enjoy their vegetarian version which comes with a grilled cactus leaf-penca de nopal asado, famous for nutritional and health promoting properties. Other items I enjoy regularly are their yummy side dishes of black beans and rice, regional specific to Oaxaca (I am told) and always served fresh, hot and aromaticly appealing. Their aguas frescas (fruit or rice based beverages ) are made-from-scratch and are sweetened just enough, to where you can still savor the exotic flavors of tamarindo, Jamaica, or the rice/lime/cinnamon combos. Somewhere between mole spice and mole sweet but the two never quite met. The fresh tortillas I was looking forward to.....lacked salt but still hot, nice and fluffy. A solid place to eat.
