Spent the better part of Monday in the Renown ER in severe pain. Was given a referral to see a doctor here within 2 days and but the office gave an appointment for 2 months out. I have been a patient here for over 2 years and was satisfied with my care as I have been lucky to have uncomplicated pregnancies because don't expect a doctor to spend any extra time. Many many many times I have had to wait in that office 40 minutes plus. Today I was 5 minutes late, 5 MINUTES LATE and was told I have to reschedule after taking time off work and finding childcare. I find it pretty disgusting as I have waited hours and hours collectively throughout my 2 pregnancies. I will not be returning to this office again and will recommend that others find another option, but if you enjoy being treated like a number this is the perfect place for you. read more

Poor answering service, specifically Ruth, who was rude, with no customer service skills, who sounded like she does not like what she was doing. I was following up on my medical records and she just sounded so cold and like she can't help me because "she is out of location, and kept repeating that she is Ruth of ANSWERING SERVICE". When asked, Gives me the phone number for the office without giving me the area code and seems to be irritated when I tried to clarify what area code it was because I live out of town and out of state. She sure did the answering, but POOR SERVICE there. Quit the damn job and let somebody else with a better personality answer the calls for this wonderful clinic. 02/07/2018 - 1:00pm I am a longtime patient of Dr. Stacy Paul. Due to a family history with reproductive issues, I feel it necessary to be extremely consistent with my doctors and am extremely reliable in communicating my health. Today, I called to speak with one of the doctors assistants and was told that Dr. Paul's normal assistant Mary had been reassigned and a new assistant would contact me. No biggie. The lady taking the message assured me that they would have access to my records and get back to me. Desiree was an assistant who called me back. Talk about terrible customer service. She asked me what my situation was and then kept interrupting me. I explained an irregular cycle and had many questions. She did NOT listen to what I was asking, and I kept repeating myself. It came to the point that she said I needed to schedule a follow up appointment, but I am not due for my annual until this summer. What would I be following up to exactly? I'm not sure. She was very short, borderline rude, and just someone who I think really doesn't enjoy their job - if you are in a field like OBGYN... you have to enjoy the patients, patient care, and giving the best care - AT ALL TIMES. My place of employment is a very FAST PACED doctors office as well and as someone in management, I would be extremely disappointed in this employee. She was disrespectful, nonattentive, and just kinda blew me off. Mary was a gem of an assistant, as a doctor, I would not want someone like Desiree representing me to my patients. OBGYN Associates collectively has been amazing for the last 10+ years that I've gone to them. And Dr. Paul has been great. I'm astonished by this quick phone call, though I wouldn't blame Dr. Paul for having offensive staff - this is clearly a customer service/patient care - training issue that can be fostered, if Desiree would to choose. However, if it is up to me, I will call back and ask for another medical assistant to contact me. NOT Desiree. Here's hoping that Desiree is correct in her advice to me, and I guess I'll have to call back for a follow up - though I am not sure exactly why. It's hard to leave an accurate review. Dr Mellum & his nurse Cinda deserve 10 stars... They are absolutely wonderful. They both really listen and make you feel like a person, and I never felt rushed. The front office girls are usually very pleasant to work with. Even the lady I spoke with in the billing office was pleasant and helpful. Emma, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure exactly what her job title is, but when working in customer service it's incredibly rude to respond with "yeah" when someone says "thank you", repeatedly. I spoke with her on the phone and I felt like I was an inconvenience to her and she was annoyed I wasn't able to make a payment until next week. Maybe get someone who enjoys customer relations & has friendlier phone manners to handle the phone calls... read more

Dr.Garol has been great. The rest of the staff on the other hand, well they are a different story. Extremely poor communication. I have made several attempts to get results back on my biopsy I had done, going on 2 weeks since the biopsy and still no answers. they said I should have results in about 7 days from the procedure and it's 2 weeks now. the results are in just no one seems able to or willing to go over what the next step is going to be. scheduling has also been a night mare during my pregnancy. I want to thank Jamie for filling out my paperwork twice and having it done same day! I needed it changed because at my job, they aren't exactly kind to where even just missing the minor details like how long to take an extra break or how many for being pregnant means not taking any extra breaks. Anyways I really do appreciate her! Also I wanted to say I do like coming here. I like having Dr Working as my gynecologist. She is kind and pretty patient considering the many questions I have for her sometimes. As much as I love Dr. Mellum, it is painful to come to this office. You are asked to be there 15 minutes early and then consistently wait 30-50 minutes after your appointment time to be seen. His medical assistant is amazing and he provides great and thorough care. I know of a lot of offices around town allowing significant others to come to ultrasound and prenatal checkups but they still won't allow anyone to come with them. I know of a patient who was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, a large ovarian mass, and pregnancy that had stopped growing and she had to go through it all with her husband sitting out by the elevator. They wouldn't let him in to console her. read more

After making the transition, I never want to go back! Front desk: 5 stars *I'm a bit baffled by the bad reviews regarding office/front desk staff. They've always been very kind and accommodating... and no, I don't have any relation to anyone who works here. Appointments: 5 stars *Easy scheduling! Called in when I realized I was pregnant around 3 months and they totally helped me out with getting an appointment. Very friendly! *I've been late to 3 appointments (about 1-5 minutes) and they've never been rude about it or given me any issue. *I have experienced a long wait time, about an hour for the first 2 visits, but Dr. Working was honestly extremely busy the first time (constantly having to pick up calls from the hospital) however she genuinely apologized and made me feel important. The 2nd time was due to a few appointments that went longer than usual, and again, they were very sincere when acknowledging the delay. The third time, I was seen almost immediately. Happy camper! Customer service: 5 stars *Kind doctors, friendly nurses and an efficient front desk! *Dr. Working kindly explained to me how she would be on maternity leave from January to March, and asked if I would be okay with nurse practitioners taking care of me, or if I would rather be another doctor's care until she returns, etc. She made sure to answer any questions and end the appointment with me knowing what to expect in the months to come. I am a person who wants to believe that people still matter more than money. I am also a person who thinks if you make a promise to your patient, you honor it. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by how OBGYN ASSOCIATES of Reno treated me yesterday. I am the wife of a 34 yr old Disabled Veteran who served our country for almost 10 years. Because I am, I qualify to be covered by CHAMPVA insurance. This is an insurance that medical practices have to choose to accept, not one they need a contract with to approve.it is purely up to them. Upon being approved for CHAMPVA last Summer, I called a wonderful OBGYN Doctor named Laura Thompson's office. She had been my doctor in prior years and now I asked if they would accept a CHAMPVA assignment. I was put in hold and the nice lady I spoke with came back and said,"Dr.Thompson will accept you because you are a prior patient." I was thrilled and even had a short appt with her in December USING my CHAMPVA insurance. Then yesterday happened. I went into the new group she joined for my annual exam. Where she used to be ALPINE WOMENS HEALTH, she now was part of OBGYN ASSOCIATES in the same building one floor up. Upon going in, I explained to the front desk girl that my insurance had been accepted and she handed me patient paperwork. She then called me up to the front desk where she said,"CHAMPVA doesn't pay us enough to accept you" and another girl explained,"Well, CHAMPVA just doesn't...pay..you know." Mind you, I have gotten claim forms for each use of this insurance so far within 1-2 weeks of using it, so I knew the first girl was who was actually telling the truth. They couldn't make enough money from my insurance to honor the promise made by my Doctor. That didn't sit well the more I thought about it. The right thing would have been to honor my doctor having accepted CHAMPVA already (and being able to verify that her office accepted it for payment once already). The decent thing to do would have been to at least see me using my insurance for the scheduled appt yesterday that I had waited for several months to go to. What they did instead was tell me that they would only see me if I paid out of pocket. Why would I do that for an annual exam and several tests? I am unsure if they really explained the situation to Dr.Thompson as they seemed to already have made their own minds up about how they felt about CHAMPVA, an insurance that covers family members of our soldiers. It didn't seem right at all. I tried calling Dr.Thompson to talk or leave her a voicemail directly so I could at least express my disappointment. (Not to go off, but to ask for her perspective and tell her mine.) Upon attempting to call, I first had the phone ring at OBGYN ASSOCIATES for 5-10 minutes straight with no one choosing to answer. I am assuming they have CALLER ID, but anywho... An answering service finally answered who was supposed to relay that I would like to touchbase with Dr.Thompson directly. This didn't seem consistent with her character and way of acting toward her patients she had know for the better part of 5 years. I will now find another office to work with, but I could not take in the coldness I felt yesterday without saying something. Maybe they should only accept a certain number of CHAMPVA patients as they are a business, but to shut me and us out was not right. read more

While my doctor seems to be ok, contacting her outside of an appointment is impossible. EVERY time I visit I wait a minimum of 1.5-2 hours before I get to see anyone. Contacting anyone at this office is impossible..I recently had a post op scheduled for a Monday. I called Friday morning to confirm it and find out what time it was, and was told to leave a voicemail and they would call me back. Not only did I never receive a call back, but when I called back at 1 I was told they close at noon! Looks like no post op for me. The doctors may be great, but the way the business is run as a whole is terrible, I highly recommend using another hospital. read more

So far I am not satisfied with this practice, I had and appointment on Monday July 3rd and they called me to reschedule me to Friday July 7th. I have a job and I have to request time off for my appointments in advance and with limited staff at my work they have to work around my schedule so I am unhappy I have to be changing my time off request, so today when I showed up for my appointment I waited for 55 minutes and they still hadn't called me back so I checked with the front counter and she said it would be another 25 minutes (estimate, could've been more) she said they were running behind because most of the morning appointments showed up late and I told her that basically they were punishing us that showed up on time. Many places have that rule where if you're more than certain minutes late they reschedule you and now I understand why. It was a very busy office but I saw everyone going in and out but me, I was the only one that seemed to have waited that long I had to reschedule and again I have to ask for more time off at work, I have a 3 year old that I have to bring with me and she was getting really impatient of waiting when we got there the lobby was full and by the time we left (after an hour of waiting) there was only me (longest wait) and a couple new show ups! I had to switch to OB gyn Associates when my last gyn moved out of state. It's hard to write this review because my dr's bedside manner was SO nice and I have now been going there for years and have established a relationship with many people there but here's how it is; the doctors are overbooked like you see in many of the reviews here. The wait is long, but my issue was my dr made an error removing a small cyst. He stitched me up after accidentally hitting an artery, not noticing, and sent me on my way. It became a large hemorrhage/hematoma and I had to be rushed to emergency surgery 3 hours later. This was at the end of the day, after hours. It took 5 hours in surgery to repair. Months to heal. Forget trying to find a lawyer in this town for a "mistake" These doctors are overbooked/overworked and they make mistakes. Choose your doctors carefully. read more

After seeing a physician here for many years, whom I real liked, I was left without a physician or notice of her departure from the practice. I decided to make an appointment for an annual exam with a new doctor. I called to schedule the appointment and asked if I could have my vaccinated, masked child with me, as I don't have child care. I was told that was fine. I got to the appointment, checked in, began filling out paperwork when I was called to the front and told I had to reschedule because I could not have my child with me. This is a practice that I used to regularly take my other daughter to for my exams and through my second pregnancy with no issues. Not sure what has happened, but I am completely and utterly disappointed after waiting months for an appointment. read more

I am absolutely shocked at the reviews of this office, I have had nothing but a wonderful experience here. When I found out I was pregnant every single person I asked referred me to this office. I got in with Dr Mellum and was shocked that my appointment started on time. He is wonderful and answers all my questions. This is a large office and extremely busy but I never feel as though he rushes through my appointments. The one time I had to call and ask a question I got an answer back within an hour, and when I needed to get in that day bc I had something I was unsure about I got in right away. Also the billing department is so great, they run all your insurance and then let your know how much it's going to be after insurance and even will work out payments if necessary. I wrote a five star review for Dr. Klaich and I truly believe he is, by far, the best OBGYN out there. He is the only doctor I would see in this office. The poor review for this office is due to two different experiences with doctors other than Dr. Klaich. First was my experience with Dr. Westfall. She delivered my daughter when I was at St. Marys....She was the on call doctor. I felt that she didn't listen to any of my wants/needs at the time of the delivery and that she was rushed. She wasn't communicative at all. She was a glorified baby catcher. My delivery was horrible. Second, was my experience with Dr. Perry. My friend saw her and loved her so I sent our nanny to her. I went to the office for her first meeting too. The way that Dr. Perry treated her was appalling. She seemed rushed and was just rude. She didn't even want to discuss the possibility of a VBAC. Seeing how she interacted with our nanny made me so mad. And, I now feel horrible for recommending this woman to her. The only reason I did is because she practiced with Dr. Klaich and our nanny didn't want to see a male doctor. read more

Your contact with any office always starts with the front desk, although the gals seem friendly they certainly don't seem at all concerned nor do they have any sense of urgency when you call with any sort of problem. I don't care for the cattle call type atmosphere of this office. The doctor I saw was never on time and you feel like you are one of many as opposed to an individual there for care. I ended up needing surgery by one of the doctors and unfortunately had some complications. I was made to feel like I was such and inconvenience during my next couple of visits. It's apparent to me that they have more patients than they know what to do with so making one feel welcome and comfortable is not at the top of their priorities. Absolutely dreadful. I was excited to go in as see a Dr. when I found out I was pregnant, was seen by a nurse practitioner which is even better! Very nice woman who did an ultrasound to verify my pregnancy. Walked out with a little bag of goodies and feeling well taken care of. Due to an insurance mix-up, I was unable to make my return appointment and had to reschedule twice. Even after explaining the situation to the nursing staff, they were very rude, citing that I should just find somewhere else to go since I was now considered a "non-compliant" patient. This made me very upset and I asked to speak to a supervisor. Though I had been told that the MD would be directly asked if she would continue my care, because now I was considered a liability, she had not, and a message had just been sent that morning in response to a message I had left on a voicemail the week before. As a result I was told that I should call somewhere else, just in case. It's as if the group no longer wants to see me because of the change in my insurance, I went from a BCBS PPO to the straight, State Medicaid. I feel very discriminated against because of my circumstances. Though a positive experience with the APN, the Staff was rude and insincere in terms of my change in insurance and inability to pay upfront for an office visit. read more

Dr. DeKay is worth following over here from Alpine Women's Health. OBGYN Associates are very fortunate to have him as a part of their practice!!!!! He delivered my second child and I cannot express how great of a bedside manner he has. He is very friendly - respectful of your birthing plan and even cracks a joke now and then. :-) He went out of his way to ensure that he would be there for the delivery. He made me feel very at ease all throughout my whole pregnancy and my delivery process. Post-pregnancy - this was my first visit with Dr. DeKay at the new merger location. I prefer smaller practices, but everyone at OBGYN Associates was really friendly and professional. I'm not too crazy about how long it takes to reach someone to schedule- but Dr. DeKay is THE BEST! He's definitely worth the wait. He still made me feel comfortable and not rushed even with the new much larger setting. I have to say that OBGYN Associates even responded to my other review in regards to offering up my experience and how they can improve on phone times. Phones are the first impression of an office - automated answers feel more corporate and less personal- especially when you are on hold for over 7 minutes. But I feel hopeful that they will work to improve the wait times when you call their office. But for Dr. DeKay - trust me - look no further for a phenomenal OBGYN provider. 5 STARS FOR DR. I've been to every appointment with my daughter except for one as of this writing (3 by the time she had the baby). She is 22 years old and doesn't know any better. I have had nine pregnancies... four live deliveries, four miscarriages and one stillbirth. I've also been an EMT and a nurse in another state as well as having delivered babies as an EMT. Now, I know this doesn't make me a doctor. OK. I get it. Before I go on though I will make my point. All of my children were born previous to 37 weeks and all of them came home from the hospital with me except for one who was born at 30 weeks and was 3 pounds and 1oz.. One of them was born at 35 weeks and three days and was 5#7oz., Another one was born at 36 weeks and two days and was 6# 9oz.. My fourth living child was 6# 5.5 oz. and was at 36 weeks and one day. Now you see, babies born at 36 and 37 weeks can live, thrive and be sent home with their mother 2 to 3 days after they're born with no complications. So why is my daughter being ignored? Why are her needs not being cared for? They can't say it's because she isn't far enough along. Anytime after 36 weeks is considered full-term. My daughter is dilated to 1 1/2 cm, 40% effaced (this is the thickness of the cervix), the baby is roughly 8.2 pounds (according to her ultrasound) and they won't do ANYTHING to help her at 36 weeks. Nothing. If she were to have the baby before she gets much bigger, she may be able to have the baby vaginally. Right now, it's a slim chance but still a chance. There are two reasons (according to this guy, (Dr Garol) the doctor would intervene and they are; 1. If the baby was at 11 pounds they will do a c-section. or 2. they will perform a c-section at 39 weeks because in 2 to 3 weeks from now at the rate the baby is growing, there's no chance that she can have the baby vaginally. At this point, our baby girl is at the 90th percentile. My daughter doesn't want a c-section... But it looks like she is going to get one, like it or not. She begged the doctor to induce labor and he wouldn't. She asked if the doctor would strip her membranes to help encourage labor and he wouldn't. Even though the RISK of a c-section at any time outweighs the risk of a vaginal delivery at 36 weeks for both the mom AND the baby. The doctor won't help. I asked him that straight out and he said he can't do anything until 39 weeks. (Can't or won't?) What's irritating is that the doctor didn't even bother talking it over with my daughter. He didn't listen to her concerns. Not at all. She feels like she's losing something and I can understand her feelings. I don't think that it's that she fears having invasive surgery but I think that she wants her baby. She also knows that once she has a C-section she will never be able to have a vaginal delivery even if she wants one. Not without the fear of rupturing her uterus. I don't know if all doctors in this office are complete d-bags but I would suggest looking somewhere else for your obstetrical care if you feel like your needs aren't being met. If you feel that the doctor isn't being attentive to your care, I wouldn't hesitate to go somewhere else. I know after my experience with my daughter at this clinic, I would seek out the help of a veterinarian before I would go back to this one particular doctor whose name I can't remember. read more

I wish I saw this place had two and a half stars before I came to this site to post my terrible experience. I'm worried this goes on more than the office knows. I am in my forties, I have endometriosis, and a heart condition. They should know this as I've been there before for a pregnancy I lost. I picked this doctor because he's supposed to be good with high risk pregnancies. I know the girls who answer the phone are not medical professionals, it's bad enough to tell them personal info(there should be confidentially with medical professionals not everyone in the office). With endometriosis I don't get a normal period I never have in my life. I have made many appts in the past without a date or by giving an estimate of my last period. Well... I could not tell her the exact date from my last period because I don't know it. I'm in my forties and have had a baby before. I have had endo since my 20s. Miss Emma went on to say she could not make the appt unless I gave her a date. I don't know the date. I told her a few months ago. Still not good. I picked a date. She went on to say I was too far along for the doctor to see me?!!!! My husband is standing by me for the whole conversation and says she must have misunderstood something. We repeat. Nope. She decided. I have never had this happen in my 40 something years. I have posted in mom groups to see if this has happened to them. No it has not, many have said just like me they have been able to at least make an appt without a date. I have no idea how far along I am or if this is an actual pregnancy. Before this call I took the basic pregnancy test every other woman has taken from the grocery store. I am at a loss for weirds. The audacity and the rudeness of someone who doesn't have a medical background and is there to make appts and possibly show some compassion and empathy. This is disgusting what about client privacy or some professionalism from office staff. These are private and serious issues. The staff needs to be better trained. I have never had an experience likes this before. Awful!! Your scheduler decided how far along I was and said I was too far for an appt? How does that even make sense? If anything I would be an emergency as I have health issues and am I high risk pregnancy, which is why I saw this doctor before!!! I am a current patient. When I asked to speak to the office supervisor, I was told she had already left for the day (it was 3:45ish),I was forwarded to the office managers voicemail. read more

Called the business managers, and they had no explanation except "the doctor found it to be in your best interest." One of the managers of the practice promised to call me back the next day to figure out what's going on... Yeah, that was 2 months ago. Havent heard from anyone there except getting a bill in the mail. Basically, this office is awful, the staff is a nightmare, they're all unprofessional to the max. I would never recommend anyone to go here, unless you like feeling like a pay check! If you want to stay with this office, don't write a Yelp review on them. I've been going to OBGYN Associates for 8 almost 9 years. I've had 3 babies and would never trust anyone else other than Dr. Working, Ann & Nicole! The office has an amazing ultrasound sound tech (Debbie) and the front office staff goes beyond their regular duties to make you feel welcomed. This is my third pregnancy, first one in the Reno area. I have never had such a hard time first of all just getting a doctor and securing an initial appointment as I've had here, which is not only specific to OB/GYN Associates, but part of my surprisingly poor overall experience this pregnancy. I've never had such a poor experience with any medical professionals anywhere as I've had since moving here, and OB/GYN Associates have certainly been a part of that. Delays are constant at every step, as other reviewers have mentioned. Okay, your office is busy, but if I'm 15 weeks along, why wait 3 weeks just to give me the phone number for the Dr. you've referred me to, needlessly pushing my time back to ultimately be seen by them at week 24, when anything I then find out as far as my baby's health is essentially moot because it would be too late for me to do anything about it. The stress and anxiety caused by these delays was extreme and seem to have been avoidable. Phone tag back and forth because of insurance issues when they were using the wrong last name, etc. I came to them already at week 14/15 by the time my insurance was approved and I could be seen by them. I'm now at week 26 and have been seen by them twice. Once was with a doctor who seemed quite acceptable, once was with a nurse practitioner. I've seen some wonderful nurse practitioners in my day, but this one had a very poor bedside manner, condescending, not helpful; I would classify the entire appointment as a waste of my time. My next appointment was with another doctor they referred me to for ultrasound, testing, and determining the gender (the nurse practitioner literally laughed when I'd asked her if I could find out the gender there; as if that was something they can't/don't do...silly me!). The doctor I was referred to scheduled me for a follow-up with him at one month out, and confirmed I didn't need a second referral from the OBGYN for that appointment. No other appointment was scheduled with OBGYN Associates that I was ever made aware of. I got a call from OBGYN Associates the day of the second appointment with the referred doctor, which I let go to voicemail as I was rushing to that appointment. When I got to the referred doctor, I was told they (OBGYN Associates) had been trying to contact me and I had missed an appointment with them, which was news to me. I assumed perhaps they had called another phone of mine, but that seems not to have been the case as all of my call history with them is on my work cell where they called me the *one time* since November on the day of my second referred appointment on January 8th. On January 10th OBGYN Associates sent me a letter informing me they are "terminating our professional relationship" as our physician/patient relationship is "no longer optimal." Yes, AGREE! So be aware that this business not only makes appointments without notifying patients of those appointments or sending reminders, but also drops patients randomly for missing those appointments. They were in contact with the referred-out doctor the entire time and aware I had gone to my appointment with them and had the second appointment scheduled with them. I suspect they do this just as an excuse to cull their patient load. If this is the experience that want for your pregnancy, then by all means, go for it. Expect to be treated like cattle, not a patient, expect constant delays, and prepare for uncertainty, and lack of dependability. I never had the sense they cared about me as a patient, was never given information about what to expect over the course of my pregnancy and delivery with them. I have never in my life experienced any medical professional with practices like this office, and am far from quick to write negative reviews. Not available and unwilling to work with you on scheduling, which is ridiculous considering how many doctors are on staff. Trying to get an appointment is very difficult to schedule and you usually have to wait 3 months or more to even get a normal checkup. read more

I love my doctor and the nursing staff, but the business office staff including management needs some serious customer service training. It's been three weeks since I saw my doctor and my chart forwarded to surgery scheduling. I didn't know what the process is so I called two days later. I was told that I should be contacted within a week, but if I did not hear a week from that date I should call back. After seven business days, I called back and left a detailed message on the surgery scheduler's voicemail. Two days later I called and left a message with the person who answered the phone. The next day I left a message on the department manager's voicemail. It has now been another week and I have not received one phone call. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

They just have the most awful customer service, honestly. I've been a established patient, I'm always on hold, their answering service has no call back option when you get it, so even if it was important, I get to keep calling and put on hold. They are so unfriendly over the phone and see every patient as a number and not as a patient. Unfortunate but true! Last year i asked for the doctor specifically and when i showed up, i was told i couldn't see her, and i was seeing the nurse practitioner instead that was rushed and made me feel uncomfortable. I was supposed to have a annual exam in January, it's now MAY. And they told me to call back in January, in February, and in March. I STILL can't get an appointment. I'm overdue, out of birth control, my health could be at risk, I'm pissed off, and now I'm switching doctors. Two stars only because of location/cleanliness otherwise I would give them none. read more
