If I could rate 0 stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We rented a pontoon boat for a bachelor trip. Paid around $700 bucks for a half day trip with a captain. The pontoon broke down not once, but TWICE. The first time we spent 2.5 hours getting repaired and a new boat. Then the next pontoon was even slower then the first broken one. The second boat could not even break 3 rpm. Spent the majority of time fixing the boat. We asked to captain to turn around and requested a refund. The manager lady was super rude, has ZERO customer service experience, and only offered $150 refund. We spent maybe an hour on the boat without an issue. I requested to speak to the owner and was informed that they would not talk to me. They are scamming people at this location. Check their yelp reviews, this business is garbage. read more

Just awful from beginning to end. First, I should have known it would be a nightmare when the owner told me to book again and he would cancel it (10 days out and still have paid twice, no one seems interested). Second, the check in is the biggest cluster**** that I have ever experienced. There are basically people everywhere, mass confusion, and again, no employees seem interested. Third, the boat itself was in awful shape. We had to trust that they had filled the boat up since the gas gauge does NOT work. This wouldn't be a big deal except remember YOU are required to fill it up after you are done. When asked if we needed to sign off on the very damaged boat before heading out, the deckhand said as long as you don't sink it, we don't care (this shows in how much they respect their equipment). The mildew is basically everywhere. The captain's chair was missing two bolts so rocked the entire time (no one wanted to sit on it because the once white chair is now black from mildew). The radio worked but the speaker was cracked from top to bottom. In Summary, the workers don't care, the owners don't seem to care, and the equipment is a joke. Very disappointed with this company. I booked over the phone yesterday (to be sure they had an available pontoon to rent.) for Saturday. I was just notified they overbooked my boat and because the online transaction went through before my conversation with the live person ended. Now here we are stuck at the last moment with no boat. Awesome, friendly, and family owned business! We called the day before to reserve our pontoon boat and they were flexible on our departure time. Their pontoon boats are much nicer than Happy Harbor, next door. Our boat had a great stereo and we brought a MP3 cord to play our own music. Don't worry if you don't have boating experience, they gave us instructions for operation, safety, and a number to call if we had any issues. The only reason for the lack of a star is our cigarette lighter didn't work so we couldn't charge our phones. Other than that, get your mate or skipper hat ready and Bon voyage for an awesome experience! Ps. Don't forget to hit Pirates Cove, they will give you a map! read more

These guys are great. I've rented from them at least five times and it's consistently great service every time.

Super friendly workers and gave us great tips on renting and using the boat as well as keeping it in working condition. We rented a slide pontoon and had no issues but you do have to realize it has a huge top and isn't going to be a speed boat. There is also a good length of time that you're in a no wake zone but that didn't bother us. The boat could use a little upkeep on seats/ripped cushion/cleaning but it's a rental. I've rented nicer but the kids enjoyed the slide and jumping off the top. Overall we would rent again and had a great day on the bay. A nice option if you're looking for something to do when the gulf side is double red flags. Find a cove with trees to block the wind and enjoy warmer shallow waters. read more

After another company cancelling our excursion due to only the two of us requesting it, we decided we would try kayaking. The other company recommended this place because they had kayaks. I called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us. When we got there, they asked us to sign a waiver, not a problem. I took some time to read it and the man said "most people just sign it and give it back." I told him I read before I sign anything. I then asked him what does this waiver include. He said "oh I don't know you just have to sign it." He then walked us down to the water. He threw out kayak in the water and said "be careful walking down the stairs because they are slippery." He then said "y'all got this? I need to get this other boat coming in." He then walked off... The stairs were covered in algae and slipping on the steps was inevitable. We had to get in the kayak ourselves. No one to hold the kayak for us. No directions or tips, as it was our first time. I feel our experience would have been better if the man walked down the stairs and helped us down knowing they were extremely slippery. Ask us is it our first time or not, and show us the technic for kayaking. Then help us get into the boat. When we got back, the lady at the counter asked us if we had fun. I told her "not really." She asked why not and I began to explain that we just didn't know what we were doing, and that I wish we would've had some guidance. She laughed and said "well it's not that difficult." Well..I was officially insulted and never felt more unappreciated as a customer. I guess the $55 we spent there wasn't a lot to them. read more

Even 1 Star is too much!!! DO NOT RENT A BOAT FROM THIS PLACE! They scam people and they refuse to own up to anything. We rented a boat through OB Water Sports (charge was through FH*Southern Rose) and the boat was faulty. They tried to blame us and we barely even got it out of a no wake zone and we were never able to use the tube we also rented in a separate purchase. We immediately called and told them there was a problem with the boat and it would not accelerate. Before we even told them what it was doing, Blake (who works for OB Water Sports), said we must have hit bottom and damaged the prop, but we never did and we no that for a fact. We also did not give him enough information for him to have any idea what was wrong. We called them 35 minutes after we left the boat slip (and we had been in a no wake zone for 33 minutes). We asked if they could bring us another boat and he said he didn't have one and he didn't have a way to even come to us. He said we would need to bring the boat back for him to replace the prop (which again he told us was the problem before we even gave him any details). We had 6 children with us that were so disappointed since we never got to do anything and it took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to get back to the dock because we could not go more than 5 MPH because the boat was not working properly. When we got back to the OB Water Sports, Blake told us immediately that the prop was messed up and we must have done it, but again, we know for a fact that we did not hit bottom. We had 4 people on board with boating experience and we know that did not happen. We asked him for a refund and he said they don't do refunds. We told him that the boat did not work, but he kept making excuses. He told us we could take the other boat they had for 1 1/2 hours because that was all the time left until 6pm which is when he had to go home. We asked to speak to the owner and refused to get him or tell us his name. He said if he gave us his name, he would be fired. We asked what other options we had and he said we could take the other boat (which he all of sudden had available...even though he didn't when we called). We told him it would take us 30 minutes to get back out of the no wake zone, so we would have 30 minutes before we had to bring the boat back). He said that wasn't his problem. He can't control the Alabama water speed limits. We kept asking for him to please work with us to...give us different day or more time today, but he refused. He also told us this happens every day and they never do refunds. We then asked if he would refund the tube rental since we were never able to even put it in the water and he immediately said...no refunds. He told us twice that this happens every day!!! His excuses sounded rehearsed...like he has said the same thing to customers multiple times. We feel like this was a breach of contract because they provided a faulty product!!!! The boat was great! We had a lot of fun throughout the ride. The young guy was very nice and did not deserve how rude the older guy was to him. Very unprofessional.. However, the older guy helping us was very rude when we got back. Just kept making snarky comments to us as we got off the boat. If he was the owner I could see why there are so many bad reviews on here. Make sure you bring money on the boat because you have to fill it up before you return. read more

We assumed that the dry storage on the one kayak was dry we placed out phones and car keys in there and never having tipped it wasn't dry and ruined 2 phones. We rented a boat today. It was filthy, the electronics did not work (including the gas gauge), and it would not run more than approximately 10-12 miles per hour. The employee who checked us in was rude and not helpful. We have rented from OB Boat rentals the past two years, and honestly accidentally clicked on the wrong website this year. Can I start with STAY AWAY! This company have the most unprofessional staff. Like seriously STAY AWAY! First off the boat we rented two days prior, the day of our rental was 10am at 9:15 they sent a text stating boat would be ready at 10:30. Then they sent a text saying 11am. They called stating they had to replace a part on the boat(that was our first clue to RUN FAST) We finally got our rental around 10:45. We had an 8 hour rental but were told to have it back by 6pm.. we quickly corrected them on the time difference. They agreed to 7pm return. Well so we are off. After the first 45 min of the 115hp boat running at full speed of about 5 mph. It takes a nose dive into the water. Mind you we have 11 people on board. 7 children under the age of 15 and 4 adults (none of us are overweight) we brush this off as just a shit show of a day on a crappy boat that clearly doesn't go fast! Whatever we are going to try to make the best of it. We slowly(probably a 1 hour and 15 min ride to Pirates Cove Which should have taken maybe 30 min. We are sitting there for a few hours. Once ready to leave boat won't start(SHOCKER) after a phone call to the company letting them know boat is a piece of crap. They reply with well tell us what's going on.. hmmm it won't freaking(in different terms) start! Well what's the problem.. hey guess what I rented your piece of crap boat that clearly had issues because you told me the people who rented it last broke down in the middle of ocean with no power steering. SO GLAD I RENTED YOUR PIECE OF CRAP! Boat finally starts ok, we are good we are moving let's make the best of this again. Welp not too long till another BOSE DICE INTO THE WATER. I call the company to let them know, girl transfers me or atleast attempts to. To who I assume is the owner(boy who works for tips) that goes no where. I tell them we want off the boat. We almost lost 4 kids to a nose dive again into the ocean! I call back.. I told them we wanted off the bot to send another and told them our location, as well as sent it to them via text.. I called 7 times, 7 and they sent to a voicemail that wasn't set up. My next response to them was a text, ANSWER MY FUCKING CALL MY NEXT CALL IS THE GOD DAMN COAST GUARD! Well clearly they respond.. 5 min later with Marine Police has been contacted. Well low and behold guess who never showed up.. marine police so they are FULL OF LIES! Their mechanic showed up he was kind, he told us that they rushed him to get the boat ready for today and replacing parts. After he switched boats with us and kids were safe he drove the broken boat, quickly was alerted to the fact that there was a bad prop on boat. So we make our way back to the dock.. once we arrive to the "boy who works for tips" well I ask him to check over boat to make sure we aren't charged more he reply's with "oh your good" I ask about well what's the deal we just gonna call it a day he says your not getting a refund... ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! Nothing they offered nothing, besides a shitty boat which to be honest I wish we would have left at the bottom of the ocean! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! I can't stress it enough! I folded a complaint with my cc company, they opened dispute refunded my money he swears he will win the battle and I guaran-damn-tee you he WONT! Nightmare on the water!! An hour and a half and one stop away from the marina and our boat dies in the middle of the water.....gas gauge read empty so we called the store and they immediately responded that the gas gauge doesn't work. Troubleshooted a couple of things over tge phone and no luck so they asked us to have someone tow us to shore so they could send help....mind you we are a family of five with two small children. Guy arrives and ultimately tows us back to the dock and allows us to take out another boat AN HOUR AND A HALF later we are back on the water in a different boat. Decided to go to Pirates Cove and once on the open water and at full throttle this new boat would sound a horrendous alarm and lower itself to half throttle - EVERYTIME! Contacted the store AGAIN and was told to just slow it down or deal with it....it's apparently an oil change alarm. REALLY?? Never received an apology and with beaten up boats I would never take my family out on one of their boats again!!!! One star only because to post a review I had too...must mention our trip to Alabama from Texas has been amazing only encountering extremely nice people until we dealt with THE OWNER her, she was not apologetic or even sympathetic to our issues.. read more

Tldr: AVOID THIS BUSINESS AND GO TO ORANGE BEACH BOAT RENTALS INSTEAD. This place is called OB Watersports because they pee all over your day. Rented pontoon boat for 4 hours. Before seeing our boat, man handling rental was rude and cut us off when we tried to ask basic safety questions. Very unpleasant. Attendant who took us to boat offered very little introduction re: safety or operation of boat. Reason they didn't want to show us anything became evident once we left the dock - while the boat runs, none of electronics including gas gauge were operational. No GPS, no air horn, no depth finder, no speedometer. Only noisemaker for event of emergency was a filthy old whistle taken apparently from a life jacket. When we realized almost immediately, we called - receptionist cut us off to say none of that stuff works. She assured us we had a full tank of gas, but was unconcerned that critical safety components of a boat they rented out were broken. Boat's speed was severely hampered by dysfunctional engine, which made it difficult to get anywhere in our allotted time, or to make it back to business by return time. Boat was filthy, with trash and cigarette butts floating in standing water they did not bother to clean out. To sum up experience: bad service, bad maintenance, bad boat. Terrible Experience! Will never rent here again! I would stay away from this business and use Wallace boat rentals! So many hiccups and unprofessional people running this business. We started out with a boat that was too small when they told us it would fit 12 people and we had 6 adults and 4 small children and it was still too small. Had to ask several times before they finally gave us a larger boat. Then after an hour within the trip, our boat broke down bc the gas tank was empty. They left us stranded for hours before a new boat came to us. Thank goodness for the kind people who saw us stranded and towed us to shore. I'm local went by 3 weeks prior to rent date to see the pontoon boat. I wanted nice and larger boat for guests during 4th of July. Went by 2nd time, one week prior to rental to confirm the equipment I was being guaranteed to rent. All was good until we arrived the morning of the rental. The dock help took us to the vessel, much smaller, older and in poor condition. I could have gone elsewhere a week earlier but was stuck with a bait and switch. We have better services in this town. I suggest you find them. Look at some of the other comments from other renters at this rental facility. You as guest to our area deserve better, there are several that provide good service and products. This was upsetting. read more

Don't waste your time or money! This gave all the appearances of a poorly ran business and is a disaster waiting to happen! We finally found the office which is a closet under Tacky Jacks resturant. The kid checking us in could not get the card reader working so he wanted to make photocopies of our debit cards along with drivers licenses. When we asked about a receipt he wrote, on a piece of print paper, a dollar amount and nothing more... Not a date, location, or even an indication as to what it was for. The pontoon we reserved was in poor condition, had MOLD on the seats, and a broken fuel gauge. Enough was enough and we left before things could get worse. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!!!!! Terrible experience with OB Water Sports. The owners are extremely rude and need to be doing something else with their lives! Zero customer care sense and will try to take every penny from you. Our pontoon boat ran out of fuel 1 hour into our full-day trip and the owners (husband & wife) told us on phone "this is your problem, you need to call Sea Tow and figure it out..." Their pontoon boats need much maintenance (engines surge, fuel gauges do not work, and they do not have proper survival gear onboard amongst other things). After swapping out boats with 3 hours lost waiting on them, the second boat cruised at 6.7 mph at top speed. They advertise 15-20 mph. Wasted half a day trying to go to our close-by destinations... After returning at 6pm, the owners told our group they were going to do nothing for us! The husband threatened an elderly gentleman we had with us who is a prominent Pensacola businessman after he questioned why he would not refund our cost. The deckhands even stated that the owners were terrible to work for. I have never Yelped before, but taking the time to ensure others are forewarned! This business needs to be shutdown. I rented a tritoon for a family of 9 and we had plenty of space on the boat. There are plenty of hot spots to visit in the 4 hours we had the boat. The staff was enthusiastic and helpful and answered all questions we had. Knowing nothing of the waters we were going into, they helped quite a bit on navigating the waters of the bays. They suggested great areas to take the boat (some of which we visited) and they didnt disappoint. This company is a bit more expensive than the other companies around the same area, but the boat we had was a lot nicer than the boats the other companies we renting out. The only complaint I have is that there is quite a bit if no wake zone to go through before you can give throttle. This proved to be an issue on the way out since we had a few small kids that got impatient. However, on the way back through, we saw a lot of dolphins that came right up to the boat. Slower speeds can be annoying, but it gave us a great opportunity to see dolphins. read more

We rented a pontoon but brought it back early because it was in such bad shape it just wasn't fun. BUT, we ended up spending the day there and rented kayaks and then parasailed which was awesome. The reason we stayed was because of Corey, Jacob and Slade and the others - they made the day fun for the kids. Parasail was two thumbs up! Lots of fun at the beach. I'd highly recommend this company. The owners took really good care of us and the pontoon boat was perfect for our entire family. We were able to see dolphin up close and personal and had a wonderful picnic lunch on the little island close to the Perdido Pass bridge. Terrible experience. Very few instructions at check in. As we were leaving the dock, the deck hand informed us we needed to put gas in the pontoon before we returned. Was not noted or discussed prior. He pointed to somewhere across the bay for us to get the gas. The boat was in terrible shape and the gas gauge was in-operable. Had to cut our four hour trip very short because we had to wait in line at the gas pumps, in the middle of a lightening storm. The boat had no contact number and we were unable to call for help. On top of all this, the guys at the gas pump could not get the gas nozzle in the tank. Worse day of our trip. Do not use this company! read more

We rented kayaks and paddle boards for the family. The staff was incredibly helpful ensuring we were taken care of. As storms started to roll in and the currents picked up in the bay, we got stuck and couldn't make it back to the landing. The staff came and rescued us just in the nick of time. Five stars for friendly personnel. 2 stars for sending us out in a boat with a faulty ignition. Getting the boat re-started ate 30 min or so of our 4hr rental, and added considerable anxiety. Luckily my teen was able to get under the wheel area and fix it. The boat was very clean and comfortabe, but SLOW with a 40 hp motor. We did. Rented a pontoon and was extremely disappointed! First, let me say I can now see why there are limited photos on the website; if I had seen this boat, there's no way I'd have spent almost $500 to rent it for the day (I spent the same amount in Destin, FL a few weeks earlier and the boat was amazing!). Anyway, back to OB... The guy who helped load our stuff and give us info was extremely helpful when we were getting started, and we tipped him accordingly. The same guy was extremely rude at the end of the day, couldn't even believe the level of rudeness! The boat looked so bad, I was almost scared to get in it and was embarrassed to be seen in it! The gas gauge was broken. There was no ladder, but there was an obvious hole in the floor where someone had tried to stick one through. We called from about 20 min away, after realizing there was no ladder, and were told we could stay where we were and wait about 45 min, or we could come back. We came back to get one. While my entire party is waiting on the boat in 95 degree heat, I can see a guy looking around on other boats for a ladder. He finally finds one and brings it out - doesn't work. He walks off with it, comes back and says he found another one. Well, it was the SAME ladder (we could tell because it had the same broken piece as the "other" one). At this point too much of our day had been wasted, so we just took it. To use it, we had to stick one side of it in the hole in the floor, and someone in the boat had to try to hold it in place. It was absolutely ridiculous, and dangerous! Most of the staff were nice enough, but as another reviewer said, the place is basically a closet by Tacky Jacks. Horrible experience from the beginning to the end. Check in is extremely unorganized and you have to stand outside in the heat (no shade) to read the contract and 10 pages of rules. The pontoon boat we rented was in poor condition and it was the better of our two choices. At first they tried to give me a boat that still had beer cans on it. There was no radio, seats were mildewed. They tied a bucket to a rope to use to wet the water slide. This was a huge safety concern for us. It's difficult for an adult to pull up a 50lb bucket of water much less a 10 year old kid. So not only were we concerned with the kids falling over while trying to pull up the bucket of water but we also had concerns of them hitting someone on the head when they throw the bucket over/down to get water. When we expressed our concern to the manager she told us "no one else has complained. Next time you can rent from Happy Harbor". And last but not least they gave us a boat with half a tank of gas but wanted us to fill it up when we returned it. We will go to Happy Harbor next time. read more
