Two pools, one for all ages and another solely for adults. I think there were really only 4 restaurants in the entire hotel site. Chevycheria, which is a beach ceviche spot. Spice Market, which was Vietnamese. Venazu, which admittedly I didn't visit. And Rubra, which has a $200.00 tasting menu. There's also the pool food, which was perfectly adequate. If you're more of a vacationer than a traveler, then I think you'll find your stay here more than enjoyable. It is a hassle trying to get an uber to get you to the airport or to puerto vallarta, but there are also 2 or 3 other hotels in the area, so there may be drivers around. Regarding my experience, I was slightly annoyed that I didn't get a Marriot Elite upgrade to my room (the hostess said since I booked with points, that was a no-go). In reading someone else's Yelp review, they mentioned they at least got free breakfasts, which annoys me even more now since I wasn't offered that. Cleaning was spotty, as the first day the room wasn't cleaned until 6:00pm or so. The next day the room wasn't even cleaned at all. Overall, not an incredibly huge fan.

From the front to desk to wait staff to spa to bellhops. A couple special shoutouts below and I hope whoever is reading this gets to meet them: Itza: AMAZING poolside service. We loved getting to know her and she was so kind to us and remembered our orders after the first day so we would come down to the pool or back from the beach and have our drinks waiting for us. Augustino: Incredibly friendly and anticipated everything we could need. He had waters waiting for us at our chairs, drink refills just as we finished our current drinks, great food recommendations, and even better conversations. Gabby: At venazu she was our waitress on our first night and she was so fun to talk to. We chatted with her throughout the rest of our stay and is so much fun! Marco: FANTASTIC bartender at the living room bar. Was so nice chatting with him and having him make some cocktails or trying new liquors we haven't had before. Leiti & Gustavo: Both were fantastic at the front desk from check-in to check-out. We stopped by a few times throughout our stay to check on things and they were always so kind and helpful. When you enter through the front gates, they check every car entering to make sure they are guests. Then you drive through a pretty, scenic route to the hotel. The service was excellent from the first moment of arriving. We loved the room we stayed in, it was huge and had everything we needed. The hotel is very private so we did not have any other guests staying that close to our villa. During our stay we noticed there were not a whole lot of guests which was very nice. The ratio of workers to guests was crazy, there had to be 5-10 workers per guest. The layout of the resort is spread out so we did a lot of walking. Our villa came with a dedicated butler to our room. He helped us with anything and everything we needed. We definitely felt very spoiled! There are several pools and they are all amazing. One is a private pool for adults only. However there were only a few kids we saw the whole time we stayed here. The restaurants have amazing food. The beachfront is very pretty and there are plenty of lounge chairs to hangout at. The workers come to you on the beach to take drink orders. We had some very chill and relaxing days where we did not leave the resort but it was fun to do some of the excursions too. We loved the spa too; it was one of the best massages I've gotten. We balked at this because so many are tourist traps operated by non-Mexican large companies, but then we found Vallarta Local and decided to give them a try as they are locally owned. I'm so glad we did. We did the Breakfast Tacos tour and it was one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. AnnaLo was a fantastic guide and educated us not only about the city itself, but the history of different tacos and local cuisine. We visited six taco stands owned by local families, all of which have perfected their own meats and styles. Every taco was better than the last. And the sauces! My gosh, the varied and delicious sauces that each stand offered were unlike anything I've ever had before. It's hard to find sauces like this in America because everything is either not fresh or watered down, and I will never forget the nuances of flavors that every sauce added to every unique taco. Afterwards, we visited a fresh fruit popsicle shop and the place where most local tortillas are made. We both got a freshly made tortilla and a bit of salt and rolled it up to enjoy like a snack while AnnaLo told us about the importance of tortillas and how eating tortillas as a snack reminds most Mexicans of their childhood, picking up tortillas on their way home from school. It was truly a journey and we both left full. By the end, AnnaLo felt less like a tour guide and more like a friend that we've known for a while. Currently , while at this property, the prices were comparable to Hyatt, however I feel Hilton's value doesn't deserve a price similar to Hyatt. The food isn't as good, sometimes some of the food would run out (bacon was always empty and papaya was not available daily).The options are wider at Ziva, more restaurants and more bars. Also, at times certain areas felt like a bottle neck at Hilton ( buffet and 4th floor elevators). Riu, to me always felt more economical. You get an awesome bang for your buck there. In terms of offerings, I feel Hilton is closer to Riu however they are charging a Hyatt Ziva premium. Hiltons cafe is not even apart of the all inclusive like Hyatt is. For the price, I choose Hyatt ziva, and even if Hilton reduced their price by 20%, I would probably choose Riu. I think Hilton needs to offer a little more at a lower price to be competitive.

Fast forward a couple months later, we're here and trying it out.... First off, location is AMAZING. Literally right in the heart of the Romantic Zone. Everything is literally footsteps and minutes away. You have the beach a few minutes walk down. As well as the well known Los Muertos Pier. Restaurant one after the other next door to you and across the street. Not only that, bars are all walking distance. Either at the corner or half a block away. Even though it's central to everything, it wasn't crazy noisy. Check in was a breeze. We got dropped off with uber. It's a one way street so it made it simple but parking is tricky there if you're driving. Right when you walk in, that's where you'll be greeted with the beautiful color crochet canopy. We arrived early and were offered early check in and late check out with our booking status. Not only that, we were offered two rooms to choose from and to top it off. A beautiful welcoming with a bottle of wine. Property is pretty much lined with plants and flowers surrounding the area. I believe it's three maybe four level. There is a pool, it's small but does the trick for a boutique hotel. Sun lounges around it as well as on an upper deck for sunbathing. There's a massive mango tree that's right in front and does offer fruits which are left out for anyone to take. Check in was a breeze, with the sweet lady that was working. They do have a lock and safe box in front private room. It was 300 peso deposit and you receive it after you return the ticket slip at end of visit. Same as beach towels, believe it was 200 pesos deposit. Room itself, pretty basic as it's a boutique hotel. Affordable which was nice. They had Airbnb similar but this visit we didn't want to have to do everything ourself. Hence a hotel with housekeeping. Big king size bed with a sofa/futon. Bathroom was basic with a shower. Sink was small. It does need some renovation but did the trick. You have complimentary toiletry which was just basic. There wasn't an iron, blow dryer or safe in room. Traditional Hispanic vibes decorated the room. There's of course ac and a small tv mounted to the wall near ceiling. You're able to connect to your streaming channels from your phone. We did have to figure out how to change the language preferences. Overall, rooms do need some updating. Property was beautiful with all the lush plants and flowers. Courtyard with the beautiful colorful canopy and tables outside. Decent pool for lounging, it's not that deep. There's a community fridge and kitchen area. Power did go out for a bit which left the tv unable to come on but we were heading out for the evening. Minor glitch. There is construction a couple doors down but didn't bother us as we were out majority of the day. And a restaurant literally right next door for breakfast and lunch. Would I stay again, yes. It's a nice friendly affordable place. Perfect location for everything. Had all the necessity, safe which can be utilized in private room at the lobby. I'm sure dryer and iron can be brought up to room. But the stay was great.
