    Our chef plating Tortilla Soup.
    Diana B.

What a fun way to spend a day in Puerto Vallarta. We signed up for Cookin Vallarta and had a really fun day. We met at one of the markets where the locals shop and picked up everything we were going to cook with, including going to the taco shop where they made fresh tortillas. We jumped in Enrique's big van and headed to his beautiful contemporary home with a large showplace kitchen. Our group was quite eclectic with people from South Carolina, New Zealand or and us from California. The age range for us about 25 to however old l am. He started with guacamole, which was a little too different than the way I've made it in the past and put it in individual presentations, which were quite lovely. Instead of tortilla chips we had for pork rinds to eat it with. I must admit it was quite yummy! Everyone took a turn working on it and plating it to make it beautiful. He had a large table ready for us, so we all sat down and devoured the first course. I forgot to mention we had margaritas made in a new way for me using pomegranate juice. After this delicious snack, we finished preparing his version of Mexican tortilla soup. No chicken, but the soup was delicious and the presentation was lovely too! For our final course, we all participated in making fresh corn tortillas, and ate them with pork he had simmered with spices over banana leaves in the oven. He added white beans, plated, and we all sat down to enjoy our meal. We had a great time! But I've decided that most people that love to cook are fun! In this case I was right! Alfonso is full of knowledge and a fun fellow to take a class from! I can't wait to see what we cook next year!

Chicken with mole sauce and Mexican rice (third course we made).

Exceeded expectations - Chef Enrique created a memorable, educational, and very tasty experience for us. Entire group participated in making all the salsas, sauces, drinks, etc - with tips and tricks woven in along the way. Especially liked the smaller group size (though it sounds like arrangements can be made to accommodate larger groups). Will definitely return upon our next trip to PV!!

We booked this experience to celebrate two milestone birthdays on a Friday night. It was nonstop entertainment with no lulls. Carina kept the flow going giving us a chance to chit chat and enjoy. They even allowed us to have the place to ourselves. The experience started with a tequila tasting where we actually learned about tequila. Then a Margarita making lesson. Followed by making tacos and Paloma's. Weaved into all of that was dancing. The food was delicious and they accommodated our dietary preferences. The music was provided by the incredibly talented band. Don't snooze book this experience for any occasion even if you don't have anything to celebrate.

We had a wonderful taco tour with David. The selected spots were so different and delicious. Loved the history lesson along the way. David was so great about answering questions and letting us try so much. Definitely arrive hungry as there's tons of food!

    Our awesome tour guide, David.

We were on a Carnival Cruise and while in Cabo enjoyed a Juan More Taco tour. David was our tour guide and he was awesome - knowledgeable and personalable. All stops offered deliciously authentic food. We stopped for ice cream and enjoyed an impromptu tequila tasting. Definitely worth it to book with Juan More Taco.

    Love this guy!

We balked at this because so many are tourist traps operated by non-Mexican large companies, but then we found Vallarta Local and decided to give them a try as they are locally owned. I'm so glad we did. We did the Breakfast Tacos tour and it was one of the most memorable tours we've ever done. AnnaLo was a fantastic guide and educated us not only about the city itself, but the history of different tacos and local cuisine. We visited six taco stands owned by local families, all of which have perfected their own meats and styles. Every taco was better than the last. And the sauces! My gosh, the varied and delicious sauces that each stand offered were unlike anything I've ever had before. It's hard to find sauces like this in America because everything is either not fresh or watered down, and I will never forget the nuances of flavors that every sauce added to every unique taco. Afterwards, we visited a fresh fruit popsicle shop and the place where most local tortillas are made. We both got a freshly made tortilla and a bit of salt and rolled it up to enjoy like a snack while AnnaLo told us about the importance of tortillas and how eating tortillas as a snack reminds most Mexicans of their childhood, picking up tortillas on their way home from school. It was truly a journey and we both left full. By the end, AnnaLo felt less like a tour guide and more like a friend that we've known for a while. Getting to know her was a highlight of the trip in itself. We hope to return to Puerto Vallarta soon, and when we do, we will absolutely be booking another tour.

The breakfast on the way there was an assortment of fruit and mini muffins. The lunch was fajitas which we really enjoyed. I loved that everyone had to wear a life jacket for the first 10 minutes of the ride as I was initially nervous about the ride. After the 10 minutes are up, we had the option of continuing to wear the life jacket or take it off. All the instructions they gave were in both English and Spanish. One of the highlights on the way there was the whale watching. We saw a couple of them and it was so cool because it's the very end of the season, so we won't be seeing them again for a few months. Once we got the the island, we had some really good chips and guacamole. There were a few different excursion options for an additional cost. such as hiking to the waterfall, going horseback riding, or driving ATVs. Not sure what the cost for those were. We enjoyed snorkeling in the ocean and swimming in the shallow pool with a bar attached for easy access. I highly recommend this tour. We definitely got our money's worth and more!

The staff is incredibly attentive and welcoming from the start. Fair warning: the drinks start flowing around 9am, so pace yourself and bring lots of sunscreen -- the sun + cocktails add up quickly. The booze selection is pretty generic, but plentiful, and the snacks along the way are appreciated. The fajita lunch was solid and hit the spot after a morning on the water. Shoutout to Ricky Ricardo, truly the hostess with the mostest -- high energy, fun, and kept the vibe going all day. Luis was also fantastic, constantly checking in and somehow remembering everyone's names, which made the experience feel very personal and welcoming. They even slowed the boat down so we could watch whales, which was a highlight, and having a photographer on board was a nice touch to capture the day. The music on the ride home was a little outdated, but honestly... it just turned into a dance party anyway -- especially once the tequila shots started making the rounds. All in all, a great excursion with a fun crowd, attentive staff, and memorable moments. Easy 4 stars and a solid choice if you're looking for a lively day trip while in Puerto Vallarta.

Sylvie was very easy going listener to what we wanted and made our experience custom and better than anyone else could. Plus she responded quickly! And we were booking less than 24 hours out, so that was super helpful! We did a walking tour the first day and she picked us up to drive us around the second day to spots we missed and to go outside the city. This woman has a fantastic memory and knows EVERYBODY! She is originally Canadian but speaks excellent Spanish and isn't shy. When my friend wanted a special alcohol that's hard to find, Sylvie called a friend who owned a restaurant, they opened up just for us and Sylvie took us there even though our time indicated she should be dropping us at our hotel. When she took us to Gringo Gulch, to see The actor Richard Burtons home/Hacienda San Angel (which we heard was 800-1000 a night to stay in) she made a call and got us in there for a private tour (it was just me and a friend). Sylvie was extremely personal and really becomes your friend. The first day at the walking tour it was soooo unseasonably hot that a girl in our group got heat sick and everyone was done about halfway through because we were miserable. So Sylvie rose in a cab with the girl to make sure she got back to her condo ok. We would highly recommend her.
