While tutoring she has made the concepts easier to understand using analogies that facilitated the learning process. I was impressed by her organization, she documented my progress all throughout our sessions, and she provided me with tools to do well in the sessions and on test day such as providing me with printed copies of the digital SAT Princeton Book we used on our sessions, when I didn't have a book on hand, and she has included helpful tips on the copies for the English and Math sections of the test. She also provided me with a good tip when transitioning from the two sections in the test, and it is to breathe in and out during your break, which I will continue to implement moving forward for other tests. My kid loves the calmer, soft spoken teacher, while other kids i see gravitating to the high energy teacher. They that a completely open door policy I love as well. TERRIBLE COMPANY. My experience with this company is as a parent in the PVPUSD Gate program. This…read morecompany was selected to lead some 'executive training' sessions for Gate students in the district. A week or so after signing up with my school district, I received an email from a random person at Air Tutors without telling me anything about why I'm receiving an email and just stating what week sessions will begin. The email came from a Hunter Shelburne with a profile picture that looks more like it belongs on Facebook rather than a professional company. After inquiring what the email is about, only then did he explain that this was for my son. Even then, he didn't explain it was a special leadership session through the PVPUSD Gate program. I had to put two and two together. Anyhow, he explained more details about session times and assignments would be forthcoming. Nothing ever came. On 3/22 at 3:55pm I get an email from Tynisha Lewis saying "your" session is about to start. I'm a CFO, I don't need tutoring. At least get the emails right and have some details in the email. Something like, attendee's name, session name, program affiliation, would all be helpful. Also, how is it, we never received session dates and times until 5 minutes before the session??? Of course, I'm in meetings and don't see the email. I get a text from an unknown number at 4:30pm for a tutoring session. Again, no important details. When I realized what this was about, I asked when my son's sessions are and the texter said right now. Here I am 20 minutes later at 4:50pm and I still don't know if this is a one time session, when other sessions are, etc. This company did a terrible job in communicating as to detract from an otherwise great Gate experience with PVPUSD so far. If you are a parent or a school district, think long and hard about what this company's operations will do to the image of your district. It's difficult enough for parents to juggle all of their kids' activities, we don't need stuff thrown in minutes before they're taking place to add to the stress. Junk company.

Calculus is extremely difficult for me, but somehow Amy managed to make it not only easy but enjoyable. She was so sweet and patient, and it was so evident how much she truly cared for me to learn the material. I ended up with an A in calculus this semester, and I 100% attribute that to Amy and Air Tutors. I can't thank them enough for their help and highly highly recommend them. His teaching style is to help her figure it out and follow her logic (which was sometimes a crazy route to the answer). He would say "you could also look at this..." to alert her of alternative ways to find an answer. He does assign homework and things to memorize. He's not demanding, it's your choice to listen and follow. My child's success was at stake so we did as we were told. She was very comfortable and saw each lesson as a path to new math discoveries. Derrick made it interesting and she always left empowered. Her parting comment "wow, time really goes by quickly"... who says that after an hour of math?! Sign of a good teacher.

Derrick is incredibly patient, and provides tons of positive reinforcement and encouraging words. He is also quite flexible allowing for last minute cancellations or additional sessions when needed. My daughter's grades did improve while under Derrick's tutelage. We will continue to use Tutor-Tutor's services throughout my daughter's high school education. So glad we found him!
