We volunteered for Riviera Magazine's Passport to Luxury Event in conjuction with Fashion Island…read more I have to say it was a whole lot of fun and very organized!! Plus, it was for a good cause -- to raise money for Mercy House. (Plus, it's probably good for the economy -- people were spending)!!

When I heard that the party was going to be on the bridge at South Coast Plaza I thought ... Interesting.... any-hoot I meet up with her where we waltzed over to one of the many bars... The selection of cocktails was good.. The food looked good all though I was not hungry.. HOWEVER. I had to try a slider because I heard people raving about how good they were... I don't eat red meat much at all but I tried the slider and I feel bad for saying this but it was really good. I don't know who did the catering for them but it was indeed good. So, the DJ'S were good. They had two DJ's going. One on the bridge (better place to get a cocktail..less crowded) and then one on the main floor..... The highlight of the evening was the YSL fashion show. All though we missed parts of it because we were chatting away. The bit that we saw was good. Then to end the evening The Shy's played. In all Riviera Magazine can throw a party. There was gift bags but we did not grab any. However we were given cute little bracelets with the YSL logo on it upon entering the party. Oh.. and all the fake plastic there was also fun to look at. Tons of stretched faces and big fake boobs, blonde extensions and baked skin also made this evening interesting to joke about.

I love reading the paper as part of my morning routine but how this paper treats Loyal customers is BS. costs goin up so much and paper 1/10 of what is sued to be with the majority of it AP stuff that I can read for free elsewhere. also there customer service is total BS. we travel alot and cant get credits for paper on hold. they had my operation dates wrong and when I finally canceled they never accepted it and kept delivering and charing us. I told them and now they say we owe them for papers we told them not to deliver. then they call multiple times a day trying to get us to renew . almost breaks my heart to stop getting teh local paper but ef these guys and the way the manage this business and treat loyal customers.

Oh my goodness, just went to my 5th grade son's school for their presentation of 'Walk Through The…read moreAmerican Revolution'. It was AWESOME! Thank you for bringing the American Revolution to life and putting it totally in perspective! I learned SO much myself! Our presenter was Chelsea. She did a magnificent job (2-1/2 hours worth) keeping the kids active and learning! They were cheering ALL throughout the presentation and completely engaged. She had them answering questions, doing battle scenes (which they had practiced beforehand) and getting on a soap-box to present their own specially chosen character. My son was Paul Revere. We dressed him up and he memorized just a few lines that he recited during the 'show'. The kids had a blast, WE ALL learned about the time-line of events, who's who and the meaning of at least 5 of our country's different flags. Awesome. Another point I have to make (being a Christian). Unlike the public schools, California Weekly Explorer Inc kept God in the picture. Many times Chelsea would comment about how different Presidents/Explorers/Important people in history gave God the glory and/or spoke about Him in a 'Let's do what's RIGHT' way. I mean, God IS who our country's founded upon . . . look at the Declaration of Independence etc .. . Anyway, I really appreciated that. Thank you California Weekly!

My son was John Hancock and there was only one lady that ran everything her name was Kim. Kim did a fantastic job at keeping us and the children interested and entertained. I wish my daughter did this when she was in the 5th grade. I think this should be requireD for all schools to learn about the American revolution in this setting. Again thank you Kim for being so enthusiastic and energetic and helped our children learn about the American revolution in a way they will always remember. I'm very grateful that my son was able to take part in such a wonderful learning experience such as this.
