My mother, father & wife visited AREO tonight on our way back from dinner at the White House. Mom loves this store & insisted we stop in. Immediately we were greeted by great smells, music & a really friendly & helpful AREO employee, Diane. As we roamed the store, & you have to roam slowly because there are so many cool things inside, each of us went our separate ways & got caught up in things that interested each one of us. Diane was kind enough to listen to my dad chat her up about Louis L'amore novels while the rest of us had grand times finding treasures. Thanks Diane. You're a gem. Walking by with hubby we were drawn into the boutique by its sheer unique things. Everyone in there was buying up a storm and yet everyone was so helpful. Diann you were a total sweetheart. After helping me with finding items and ringing me up, she even took my info to call me after she opens more boxes to look for the items I was hoping to purchase. That's great customer service. Great looking store over looking the great blue Pacific Ocean. Inside you'll find plenty of options to decorate the interior of your home(especially during the holidays). Before I went inside I was greeted with a great smile, and was offered wine and a cookie (naturally I accepted). This is the first time I've been here though definitely not my first time in this city that I love so much. There were so many treasures to look through - I picked up some cute things... crystals and incense and my now new favorite snotty mug along the lines of "silently correcting grammar". The ladies helping me were actually very helpful and patient and wrapped my goodies while I couldn't stop putting things on the counter and exploring some more. Wow we met the kindest most wonderful sales person who made our night . Her name is Loretta and if I owned a store I would beg her to work at it. This woman is amazing.. I would have bought nothing even though the stuff is absolutely beautiful. However what sets this place over the top is the personality of this angel on earth. Your typical Laguna Beach home decor shop, but with exceptions. While they carry the standard candles, books and other junk you don't need, they also stock some unique, can't find anywhere else decor items. For instance, I coveted a gorgeous bronze cupid for weeks here, until someone with lots of disposable income finally bought it. Not cool. I'm not always willing to pay the price for the things I want (and don't need) here. But I always stop in and torture myself when walking Ocean Avenue. read more

From coffee mugs two necklaces this store has a fun gift for anyone! Not to mention the staff is so friendly and fun to be around. We used to LOVE coming to this shop at least two or three times per year. Every since this last year, we noticed that the staff they hired aren't as friendly like they used to be. We took a walk down to the beach from our time share, and decided to just stop by again to see if the had the " metal praying hands" we always get. Big mistake, as soon as we walk in, complete silence . Some blonde girl, standing there, gave us a strange look, no hello or welcome. We just left. Very strange vibe and business. read more

Though I am an out-of-towner and only visit occasionally, the staff at AREO remember me and greet me as an old friend. The kindness is in the atmosphere and makes the shop magnetic. I haven't even begun to mention the truly wonderful contents of the shop--first-rate, unique, well-crafted and lovingly curated! When there is a sale, it is absolutely like winning the lottery. My friends always marvel at the gifts they receive thanks to AREO. My favorite pair of earrings broke. I only hoped that perhaps the artist would repair them at a fee, but the shop replaced them for me gratis. It was a kindness I won't forget.
