First, let me start by saying that the freelance DJ, Ahlan Wright, contracted by Trevor was absolutely amazing. My guests couldn't stop raving about how fun he was, and he truly delivered on everything we asked for. I would absolutely hire him again for future events, and I've attached his contact info here for anyone interested. However, my review is primarily about the misleading way Trevor, the owner, conducts his business. I initially found OC Party DJ while searching for a DJ for my 40th birthday party on Yelp. When I first reached out, Trevor offered me the "Premium Package," which he said included Full MC services (more on that in a moment). I went to his website and saw other packages listed, such as the Wedding, Silver, and Party DJ packages. However, the Premium Package was not listed on the site. It seemed like a great deal, so I signed the contract and sent the non-refundable deposit. A week before my party, I reached out to Trevor asking if we could have the DJ play a specific song to introduce us during our 90s-themed character party. That's when Trevor told me that I had actually been booked under a Basic Party Package, which only included basic MC services like announcing "food is ready" or "get on the dance floor." I was confused because he had only offered me the Premium Package (with add-ons like a 360-photo booth), and now he was calling it "basic." The terms "Basic" and "Premium" are very different, and I didn't expect what I thought was the Premium Package to actually be a lower-tier service. Trevor then explained that if we wanted introductions, it would cost us extra money. But here's the issue: If you go to Trevor's website and look at the Wedding Package, you'll see that Full MC Services include introductions, first dances, and announcements (I've attached a photo for reference). The other packages don't explicitly define what "Full MC Services" include, but they also state that you get Full MC Services. It's reasonable to assume that if they use the same wording, the services should be the same across packages. If Trevor meant to offer something different, like Basic MC Services, why not clearly state it on his website? It felt misleading, and I didn't appreciate how he wouldn't honor the services as advertised. On principal alone, I refused to pay the extra money. So, that put a damper on things before my event even began. Thankfully, the DJ, Ahlan, decided to go ahead and do the introductions anyway, which was a huge relief, and we ended up having a fantastic time. But again, there was confusion. Trevor told the DJ that we owed him the remaining $450, and our contract said we had $400 remaining. We felt terrible, knowing that the DJ was being underpaid by $50, which made the situation incredibly frustrating. In the end, we gave him an extra $100 because of how well he did, but again, this should have been handled more professionally by Trevor. While the DJ made our event memorable, Trevor's handling of the situation and his business practices left much to be desired. I won't be using his company again for future events. (By the way, we didn't get the effects and lighting that was promised either. But it really wasn't needed in the environment). read more

We hired DJ Trevor for our casual corporate summer party hosting approximately 400 guests total. Trevor was extremely professional and responded very timely throughout the entire process. He was also very budget friendly and made sure to provide us everything we needed for the event. Photobooth - Trevor created a custom photo strip with our logo and icons which our guests absolutely loved. It was very self sufficient which I prefer since it can be awkward if somebody is watching you while you take your photos. I would recommend ensuring though that you set up considering where the light hits if you're outside to ensure no glare. If there is wind, I highly recommend stationing this inside. DJ - While I was very busy running around the event, Trevor was extremely accommodating in ensuring that our event schedule was followed perfectly. He helped make announcements and even hosted our game contests when my team member lost her voice during the first to second round of games. The guests absolutely loved the energy Trevor brought. Trevor was set to DJ for our wedding on March 1st of next year. Unfortunately, just a couple weeks after booking with Trevor, our venue went bankrupt and cancelled all future events, including our wedding. We were left with no other choice but to cancel our wedding. We reached out to multiple of our vendors explaining the situation to them, all of them were very understanding and were kind enough to return the deposit. In Trevor's case, there was nowhere written that the deposit was non refundable so we reached out to him as he seemed very kind and understanding when we had our consultation. Unfortunately, this is not the case, he was just being a good salesman and nothing more. This cancellation was out of our control and since we had just booked with him we thought he would be flexible. He was not. After emailing with him and him refusing to return our deposit, we understood that even though there was nowhere stating that the deposit is non-refundable, we would not be getting it back. So we asked if we could then apply the deposit to his Photo Booth services instead of his DJ services. Again he said no. He claims he tried working with us but denied every request. He is taking advantage of us and our situation and claiming that we "bailed" on him. Another example of how unprofessional he is. We are the ones trying to work with him and not the other way around like it should be. Very disappointing. If you have an upcoming wedding or event, please reconsider when booking with Trevor. Things that are out of our control happen all of the time, and if you can't trust the business you're working with to be understanding of that then you should not book them. This situation was devastating enough as it is. Thank you Trevor for making it more difficult. read more
