We were very pleased with his care. The Staff were very helpful and caring. The food was very good and they could prepare it for those needed different levels of assistance. The facility is very clean. They manage the medicines carefully for each patient. And the Physical Therapy was daily. Our Case Manager was Gil Gapay and he was excellent. He oversaw Peter's care and when getting prepared for discharge to a Board and Care Home, he arranged: special Transport using a wheelchair, arranging Home Nurse Care, Physical and ordering a new Wheelchair (coordinating with our insurance). I would recommend them. It is not an easy situation for any family to go through. Navigating all the details can be quite overwhelming. Having great help makes all the difference.

My father was admitted to Trabuco Hills Post-Acute after being discharged from Hoag Irvine. Against our better judgment, and under pressure from insurance, we agreed to the transfer. It is the biggest regret of my life, worst two and a half days of my dad's life. On Friday, January 30, 2026, during a routine visit, I found my father visibly distressed. He was agitated, complaining of pain, had a severely red and swollen left eye, and his blood pressure and blood sugar were both dangerously high. Given his recent stroke history, this was extremely alarming. What was even more alarming was the staff's response -- or lack of one. I asked if a doctor was on call. There wasn't. I asked if he had been seen by a doctor. The head nurse did not know. She then called the physician because there were no notes or treatment plan documented. We were told the doctor "thought it was just an infection." They downplayed a potentially serious medical situation while my father was clearly suffering. Because I did not feel he was safe in their care, I made the decision to have him evaluated in the ER to rule out something more serious. Instead of support, I was met with pushback and attitude from the nursing staff. During this urgent situation, a member of administration, Mike Perez, came into my father's room -- not to assist with medical care -- but to pressure me into signing admission paperwork. Meanwhile, I could not get clear medical answers or a doctor to properly assess my father. When paramedics arrived, I requested he be transferred to his usual hospital in Orange. The head nurse declined and attempted to go around me during the transfer process. After the hospital evaluated and treated my father, Trabuco Hills refused to accept him back. Even ER staff at UCLA Medical Center were extremely apologetic about the situation and expressed disbelief that the facility would decline to readmit him after only four hours in the ER. They had difficulty reaching the facility, and when I finally got through, Mila, a night nurse informed me that because I advocated for my father and he had been in the ER briefly, they had already given his bed away. Given. His. Bed. Away. As a result, my father spent days in the ER in limbo waiting for placement at another facility -- all because I insisted he receive proper medical evaluation. I will never regret advocating for my father. He is now in a better facility where he is treated with dignity and appropriate care. But no family should have to go through what we experienced. If you love your family member, think very carefully before choosing Trabuco Hills Post-Acute. And if you have no choice, know your rights and contact the Ombudsman's office. No patient should be treated as disposable.

From intake to departure the staff was hands on and created a very comfortable, supportive, and safe environment. Reflecting on my experiences from different facilities, owners and upper management are all business and no compassion, I mean this in a way where they do not shy away from their clients. At Truvida all staff engaged with clients on a personal level to make sure that personal needs are being met. Truvida's mission is to make sure that the client is first above all else, I experienced this through my entire residency. Groups were always engaging and interesting, ranging from, Fitness, spiritual growth, Yoga, breathworks, Rock to recovery, beach Meditation, art therapy and more. All of the facilitators were professional and provided great direction for the group to achieve what the purpose of the group was intended for. Truvida's facilities are all second to none, from their detox/php house to the transitional living house, and now their newly constructed IOP center, setting the bar to compete with industry leaders moving into the future. My case manager Danny was a great support system, he made sure appointments were scheduled and any outside needs were handled appropriately. Danny helped me get to where I am now through the act of compassion, sharing his experience, strength and hope to an extent that there was no question he is there for the well being of the client. Kevin, the director of Truvida was always around and always there to make sure I was comfortable and happy with everything and anything. If I had any concerns it was comfortable to communicate with him. There aren't words to express how grateful I am for both Kevin and Danny, and especially the support staff. I've had experiences in treatment where I've felt like another number, or a dollar sign because insurance was paying out but at Truvida that is so far from the feeling and environment that you will get because I cannot say it enough, client first, above all else. This makes or breaks a path to recovery and makes the experience and message being delivered immensely more impactful. Thank you Truvida & staff!

The facility is clean, spacious, and staffed by a professional, compassionate team. I still remember our first night bringing my father in--our family was overwhelmed with sadness, guilt, anxiety, and worry. Then Nurse Joy greeted us with a warm, beautiful smile. Her compassion and genuine kindness immediately brought comfort, especially to my mother. When my father was first admitted, he was essentially bedridden. He couldn't sit, stand, or walk on his own. He couldn't speak and needed to be spoon-fed. Yet after just four weeks at Villa Valencia, he was able to sit, stand, and take steps around the facility. He regained his ability to talk and to feed himself. The transformation was incredible--truly like night and day. Our family could hardly believe how quickly he recovered. We are deeply grateful to the entire team at Villa Valencia: the physicians, RNs, OTs, PTs, CNAs, and all the aides. Special thanks to Dr. Tran, Shaina, Kim, Joy, Tita, Veronica, and Victor. It's a wonderfully well-rounded team, and although I can't name everyone, I will always remember the kindness, patience, and care they showed to my father--and to my mother, who visited him every day.

The exercises, hands-on treatment, and overall guidance were clearly tailored to what I needed, and I saw a very fast improvement in my shoulder recovery and mobility because of it. I'd absolutely recommend them to anyone dealing with pain, injuries, or mobility issues and would definitely return again if needed.
