She advised that my child not return to the theater class - my child was only 6 and was signed up for the appropriate 4-8 year old class. My boy enjoyed going to class, he said he didn't enjoy class ONE time and she ran with that message - I was told not to come back and not to sign him back up next time. She said this to me in front of an audience/parents before (the last day of class) performance. It was very unprofessional to not pull us aside in private to say this. It was disheartening for a mom to see that she was so quick to judge who can stay and who shouldn't. Perhaps, she has limited knowledge of how boys are different than girls but she definitely caters more towards the girls? I'm sorry if my boy was more active and more outspoken than the others. You can tell a lot about a person - have you seen her drive? You definitely don't want your kids near her. Anyway, I've also seen a play here in the past. For the size of the venue, the play was very well organized and professional. All the actors were all very well versed and seasoned. I would go back only to support the plays.

If you are looking for a studio that knows how to produce elite, industry-ready competitors who win titles, they absolutely deliver on that front. It is undeniably a powerhouse, backed by the resources and affluence required to compete at the highest levels. However, dance is supposed to be an art form that inspires community, but our experience with OCPAA at a recent convention highlighted a deeply concerning cultural issue. We witnessed an elitist, "mean girl" attitude from several of their dancers that went beyond standard competitive drive. Bringing other dancers down and carrying an air of superiority doesn't just hurt the individuals targeted; it actively damages the broader community of competitive dance. Ultimately, it comes down to what you value as a parent or a dancer: - If you view dance purely as a cutthroat industry where winning justifies a "burn bridges and cut down the competition" mentality, then this studio's environment will likely align with your goals. -If you love dance for the art, the community, and the personal growth, and believe that being a great dancer should go hand-in-hand with being a supportive human being, you may find the culture here deeply disappointing. Technique can be bought and taught, but character is modeled from the top down. It is a shame that such a high-caliber studio allows a toxic social culture to overshadow the immense talent of its students. I hope leadership takes note and starts fostering humility alongside their awards.

No cancellation allowed, you forfeited the fee once you paid, which is super inconsiderate in a pandemic. During performance, some kids remain on floor (not on the stage) because the stage was too small to accommodate everyone. Some kids who were at the back can't be seen throughout the performance because the formation never change and everyone in the front is equally tall (go back to note "it was too crowded"). What about considering spots rotation so supporting characters get to be seen a little while main characters get the most stage? Or what about alternate the front and back row during dance so at least all parents get to watch their children perform? Really, the hope was just to see a glimpse of our child, even if it's just a minute or 30 seconds, but nope... can't see my child at all! There were too many children and choreography/formation never changed. This is not a broadway performance where the casts should feel grateful just to be on the show. This is a fee-based (paid) children's camp. This should be about the children's and parents' experiences. The only reason they were packed is that they are piggybacking on successful movies like Encanto or Sing but the delivery was very poor in our experience. The camp was such a waste of time, energy, and money. Never again!

She teaches the dance portion and has so much energy, enthusiasm, silliness - she makes dancing technique so accessible to this age, which quite honestly is a bit more harder to captivate since their attention is all over the place. 2. The price/schedules is so amazing. It fits what we need and there are so many class options - including acting, dancing, singing. There's just a lot more than a dance studio..so if my daughter were interested in improv/acting later, then she can easily switch to that or use a makeup token to check it out. 3. The productions and how they showcase their students on stage is genuinely such a huge effort and I'm amazed at how they can do this for hundreds of students across 3 shows - we love it and my daughter has a blast on the big stage, with the stage makeup and showing off their skills. And we also love how the costumes are stage/age appropriate - which honestly is something I've noticed in other dance companies I don't love. Cannot say enough great things about Stagelight. We love it and you will, too!

They opened the doors very late, and in consequence, the entire lobby was absolutely PACKED with people, and you couldn't even move. Plus there were no seats, so my grandma who has a hard time walking had to stand for more than 20 minutes and was visibly in pain by the end of it. On top of that, a certain gentleman who seemed to be the lead of the employees was extremely rude when showing us where are seats were, and would even go down each and every aisle harassing people who still had their phones out. He would even stand there and stare at you until you put it away, even if it was 5 minutes before the show. Is that really necessary? Can't you just make an announcement over the PA like a normal theater, and if you still see people, then by all means... Go ask them to POLITELY put away their phones. Also, the narrator in the beginning of the play was incredibly difficult to understand with all of the music, they should put it together better. Overall, I'm sure they do some other amazing shows and it's worth going, but we felt management should know about these complaints.

She joined the competition team and has grown in not only her technical skills and stage presence, but also in the relationships she's made with her teammates. Dance studios all have their own cultures, but this studio cultivates one where girls encourage, support, and cheer for each other. The girls are really nice to each other, and one of my daughter's favorite part of coming to the studio aside from dancing, is seeing her friends and teammates. The coaches know their dancers and have their best interests in mind. My daughter's coaches have encouraged, pushed, and taught her to elevate her skills and grow each year. They learn the strengths of all the girls and use it to create some really amazing dance choreography. The coaches are creative and talented, and it's very fun to see the dances that they come up with each year. Over the years, studio has grown a lot. It's a testament of the experiences of the families here. The studio has taken its growth and has done a really nice job creating classes for every skill level and age. There's a wide spread of classes that accommodates beginners and children all the way through teens and elite dancers. Because of its size and how girls are grouped, girls bond and make friends pretty quickly. The nice thing about the studio is that you can watch every class as a parent. Our girls are still young and it's fun to be able to see what they're learning and how their skills are growing. We've watched a lot of classes over the years, and we've loved watching our daughter grow. We've also gotten to know her teammates, coaches, and the moms. Because of this, DSAPA has turned into more of a community than a studio. The director, assistant director, coaches, and staff are friendly, kind, and talented, and we always feel welcome here. What's most important to us is that our daughter has fun... and that's a given. Along the way, she has also learned the importance of team work, time management, the rewards of hard work, and has made some great friendships along the way at the studio. I would recommend this studio to our friends and family. It's been a great place for our daughter and we are always amazed at how much she grows each season.
