This year, my youngest caught 10 fish. My older son caught a 3 and I caught 2. While none were keepers, it was still exciting for all of us to catch something. We have been on other services on the ocean, and prefer the bay fishing. Last year, our ocean sea adventure included everyone on the boat hanging off the edge barfing. After that debacle, we decided to stick with Happy Hooker as our only fishing outing. In all of the years going out with Happy Hooker, we have only experienced a tranquil ride to various fishing spots. In years past, our entire family has participated. It is a family friendly outing, that is exciting for young children and relaxing for parents.

Rods, reels, tackle, frozen and live bait, fishing gear, and plenty of other supplies. They also sell drinks inside, including beer, soda, and water. I even think I spotted a fountain drink machine. Parking was easy thanks to the large lot that's shared with their marina, tackle shop, and restaurant. The staff were friendly and especially helpful when we asked where we might have some luck fishing. They pointed us in the right direction and were happy to answer our questions. We picked up a pack of frozen squid and a pack of spearing for about $15 total. If you're staying in Ocean City and need bait, tackle, or a few supplies before heading out on the water, Bahia is an easy stop and a pleasant place to shop.

THE FISHING TRIP: My nephew-in-law arranged everything. I reluctantly agreed to go for the boat ride but wasn't interested in fishing. Pole rental was an additional $5 which was paid on-board. The small boat can accommodate about 40 people with limited covered seating. A restroom is available. About 30 of us set sail into the bay to fish for flounder. I had no idea how easy it was to fish for them as you simply drop your line into the water, no casting, at a guesstimated depth of about 15 feet as the weight hit the bay's floor almost instantly. I watched, in boredom, as the others baited their lines with a shiner and squid, dropped them in and waited. After a while one of the kids in our party gave up so I took over his line. And me being the one who didn't want to fish was the only one in our party to catch one, but it was too small to keep. The nephew-in-law ended up hooking a nasty-looking horseshoe crab. OMG, I've never seen something so bizarre in my life. It looked like a soldier's helmet with a tail sticking out of it and gruesome legs and creepy crawlies underneath. Some knew what it was but I had to Google it. Turns out they're not crabs but close kin of the spider family and are used in the medical field! About 75% of their blood is drained before they're put back in the water. The blood is then used to check the safety & sterility of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, prosthetics and other tools. Who knew? OVERALL: No one caught a flounder big enough to keep (minimum size was 18" I believe), but everyone had fun. They also had a voluntary $3.00 pool going for the largest-caught flounder with the winner taking all, no one won nor got their money back LOL.

The ride was super relaxing and enjoyable, and I never felt worried or scared. I would highly recommend this tour, and I'd also recommend booking the earlier one (we did 11:30), because the 12:30 tour had a huge line. Will do this again for sure.

We booked a private tour from Ocean Coty to Assateague to see dolphins, the horses, and wildlife…read more Despite poor visibility thanks to Canadian wildfire smoke in the air we saw a lot of dolphin activity including a white dolphin and took lots of pictures and video. We saw the Assateague horses up close and then visited egrets, herons, osprey, and other wildlife. Matt was our captain and he was very knowledgeable and informative. His low key approach was wonderful as well. Highly recommend both the company and especially Matt. We hope to book him for fishing in a future visit as he is an expert angler as well.

We sat on the upper level of the boat and were able to play our own music, coolers were supplied, and they even had tubes for us to float in - so much fun! The second time, we were with Captain Seaweed for a nighttime cruise and bar hopping! We made stops at Fish Tales and MR Ducks - again, an amazing time. We were also able to book this extremely last minute (day of), after our pontoon rental didn't work out. Absolutely a highlight of any OCMD trip!
