They also have a picnic table and a grill under the shade so you can cool off during hot sunny days. They also have a little trail that leads to a sandy area. You're not allowed to swim there, but we just dipped our feet in the water to cool off a little. The people working at the park didn't seem to mind us in the water. We did try crabbing but didn't have much luck. Since the pier is really high, you need a lot of string and a long crabbing net. We had a lot of fun!

It just helps pay for gas :) The capt also blogs a fishing report and seems pretty active in the political debate for fishery regulations - check out his website. Some tips: -Reserve your spots early (back corner is the best mainly for roominess) -Bring a good size cooler and lots of ice, if you can carry it with one hand...it's too small. You are going to be putting the fish you catch in there. - Take extended release seasickness pills the night before - they last 24 hours, don't want to ruin awesome fishing with upchucks. - AND last - Tip one of the mates $20 (and/or bring coffee and doughnuts) when you get on - ask for a good pole at your spot # (most of the rental rods are actually nice poles for party boats, though don't get too attached - as soon as you lose a hook they'll just replace your whole pole, so you are almost instantly back in the water - UNLIKE other boats who will let you waste 10 mins of good fishing time waiting for a new rig) and ask them to share any special bait they get - as the day goes on they'll get some fish that are no good for eating but good for bait, but there's not a lot to go around, so you have to ask nicely. On the way back they'll clean/skin/fillet your fish for $1 per...depending on the fish species you can still expect some bones. By the time your back to shore, normally 3-4pm depending on how good the fishing was - (Monty aint gonna leave a spot that's still producing) your fish are packed up and you still have an evening to enjoy at Ocean City

The website noted that the fishing conditions weren't prime yet, due to currents of some sort. But as we were a group of total newbies, we were just as excited about going out onto the ocean far from shore as we were to discover fishing. The charter departed right on time. We went to several spots to fish and everyone caught at least one fish - we think we had a ringer with us, judging by the 6 fish she caught. We hooked a flounder but it was undersize and had to be returned to the ocean. You can take your fish home and clean them yourself or walk over to the shop and have them clean the fish for you for a very small fee. This was a lot of fun and we enjoyed eating our fresh fish quite a bit.
