Once you get dropped you're dropped entirely from the school, no more make up hours, they don't care if you're sick or injured if you miss them you MISSED them. Point blank period. They only want your money and don't desire to actually help folks out, they lied to make saying it was 18 weeks of the program (Night Classes 2 days of the week) & then come to find out from my PEERS, I was informed it would be 1.8 MONTHS instead. The staff advisors from housing to the bursars office come off as random, unqualified individuals in these positions. A few of their professors are also quite questionable, leaving one to wonder how they screen their teaching staff. From the lack of communication to their very basic, outdated website I now have learned that GCU isn't nearly as put together as some of the local Community Colleges. We ended up thinking it may be a good fit as it is in my town and my daughter like some of the teachers. We signed a one year contract. We were told my daughter could try out other classes they offered to just go in or stay if it is the next class offered. I tried doing that and let her stay but she called me a short time after the class was to start and said she was waiting with the teacher and they were closed. They changed the schedule around without posting it. When it came time for the recital there were male photographers in the girls changing area (which happened to be the cafeteria) moms were not allowed back there to help their children but there were male photographers there. Shortly after I found out about this I called to let them know I thought that was completely inappropriate as many of the children get completely undressed while changing and especially with the younger children without having their parents their to help. I was told by Kim (co-owner) that is where they take the group photos and they have used these photographers for a few years. I advised that the photographers can set up in a hall like most dance schools do. Parents were made aware that kids need to be dropped off and parents cannot stay we were never made aware that there would be male photographers in the same room as our children who were doing costume changes. That would never sit right with me and I told her unless parents are allowed to help their children get changed and male photographers are not allowed to be in a room full of changing minor children that we wouldn't be back.
