There were quite a few issues when we visited with family while on vacation last week. The server wasn't the friendliest and quite frankly seemed like she was ready for our party to go. When we got there we asked for a menu which never came (we had to borrow one from another party), the server brought about 10 plastic cups for our table of 3 but no water and then when she finally brought our food we had to get our own silverware. At one point she turned the TV on for music and had it blasting at 100 although we asked for it to be lowered so we could actually hear our conversations. We also sat for so long that we contemplating leaving without ordering. We waited atleast 50mins before she even came back to take our order. We ordered Fried Shrimps, Potatoes in butter, Gumbo and Spaghetti with Meatballs and Spaghetti with Shrimp. The Fried Shrimp and Potates were good but the Spaghetti on the other hand was terrible. My Dad said it tasted as though they threw a can of Spaghetti-O's in a bowl and added some Shrimp (I can confirm too that's exactly how it tasted). Although there are only negative reviews on yelp I have a different perspective and this is based on in person dining. The inside is very nice, clean organized and has a very interesting nautical theme. Ocean crab at the Entrance does make you feel as if you are walking on the water because of the blue lighting. So decor is very nice and the space is large. If you're old enough it reminds you of Seafood Shanty of the 70's and 80's. At the host stand your name and temperature is taken. Once seated everyone is spaced apart nicely, this can be done because the dining area is large and had several areas/rooms. My server was bubbly and efficient, very proactive. I ordered the blue crabs it came with corn and red potatoes. The crabs were small but tasty. If needed you can ask they cut down on the salt, it worked well for me. Because I was taking leftovers I ordered soft shell crabs they were good, meaty, juicy and crispy not over cooked they came with fries. For the price you receive a decent amount just not as much or the size you might expect. But it's convenient and clean so I'll return. read more

Tried to grab a quick lunch. Operative word is tried! Went through the menu pamphlets outside. I liked the choices. Place was completely empty. I figured I could eat in and get back to work. I am masked and respectful. However, the owner/manager would not take my order nor seat me unless I shared my contact info. Why is that? It's not a city requirement to combat Covid spread. Nope! Must confirm cell number and name, etc! I support the city's efforts to contain and combat the spread of Covid. I'm ON BOARD! I ordered from this establishment for the second time because I enjoyed the fried shrimp and French fries. This time I ordered the fried shrimp, friend chicken tenders, corn on the cob, and broccoli. I enjoyed the sauce the corn came in so I dipped my broccoli into which made it even better. However. I wasn't too happy with the chicken tenders. There was one large tender and then a small tender plus the 6 fried shrimp. After biting into the large one I noticed the texture was a bit off so I broke it apart to see that it was wet looking. That turned me off so I couldn't finish it because it made me think the chicken wasn't chicken or cleaned properly. So I ate the shrimp and vegetables and will take a break from ordering from this place. read more

We spent a lot of money at this restaurant for my birthday celebration, and the service was the worst in history. I told the waitress we were out of town and it was our first time eating there. I asked her is it free refills and she stated yes. Then I asked her what would she recommend. She told me the Dungeness crab and shrimp boil. I took her suggestion. It was not seasoned and tastes like butter so I asked her for some obey seasoning. I never got it. I ended up stopping another waitress on the floor and she brought it to us. The only thing that was good was the Ginger ale. Oh by the way the so called free refills were ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE please take a look at my receipt attached . I went to the manager, Paul the so called owner so he said, to inquire why we were paying additional for refills. He stated that you pay for different drinks wherever you go.. umm no, you do not!! Only this money hungry restaurant. I explain to him that I asked the waitress if there were free refills and she said YES. If she was trained properly, she should have told us yes for the same flavor drink and $2.99 if you choose a different one. Paul didn't care and he did absolutely nothing about it. Good customer service means 100%.. PERIOD!! This place is not your good seafood restaurant so please go elsewhere to get your moneys worth and good customer service. The server and his service was awesome. The food we order was good and hot how I like it. The drinks did take awhile to come out but it was pretty good(blue Hawaiian). It was a nice crowd as well that came for karaoke night. However the bathroom is straight disgusting to the point I held my pee until I left. We also had to wait over 10 mins to be seated and there was plenty of empty seats. They didn't have a kids menu like I would hoped for. read more

Very interesting. Ordered a couple beers during happy hour. Drafts for $3! Heck yea. I got the fried shrimp and oyster combo. I guess I was expecting better. The price was good. Food was hot. Visited Ocean Crab at 3000 Island Avenue for the first time yesterday (02/22/2024. Was quite impressed...The food was absolutely delicious, the most courteous staff that I have met in ages, and our server (Lamar) was fantastic. I will request his service each time we return. I was skeptical about dining in and decided why not? Soon as you enter they ask if you're dining in or taking out. I said dining in and the hostess collected my information and took my temperature. So I'm thinking okay this isn't bad at all. I did asked to be seated ALL the way in the back and in a booth and they gladly obliged. The service was better than I expected. The food was good. Not great but not bad either. Would I drive the 2 hours to go to Hot n Juicy over coming to Ocean Crab? Yes. But they were closed today and it's fun to try new places. I got the combo boil - 1lb of snow crabs and shrimp. The shrimp was not over cooked and I enjoyed every bite! They were not stingy with the veggies! Overall I would definitely come back. My wife and I flew in from the West Coast and immediately found a place to eat. Ocean Crab was highly recommended. When we came in our server Kayla was also dealing with a very large group. We flew in to the Philly airport and were starving!!! The ONLY criteria for a restaurant was "it needs to be close". Wow!!! We are so glad Ocean Crab was close. It was delicious. We were greeted promptly, our temperature was taken (we appreciated that) and seated. The menu is great with lots of seafood options. We each order a fish and shrimp combo, mine with catfish his with tilapia. It was served up quickly and it was plentiful. The seafood was fantastic! He got onion rings I got French fries. The place is convenient to the Penrose Plaza neighborhood and trying to provide entertainment is a good idea. BUTTTT... On every other Thursday between 5pm & 9pm it's Karaoke night which would probably be better if it wasn't for people bringing kids of all ages in and allowing them to run all around the place as if they are in Chucky Cheese or a playground. The kids are playing up at the bar, in bathroom, other people's table and anywhere else they need to explore and with minimum ADULT supervision. Are these parents looking for a night out with the patrons as free "babysitters" for them while trying to enjoy our food & libations. The owner of this place doesn't seem to care he's just counting his sales. Authorities needs to monitor this place and put this owner on notice so that customers who choose to try to have an enjoyable evening out close to home and a little entertainment would be able to do so. I don't even know where to start at! MYA WAS THE BEST SERVER I HAD IN AWHILE, SHE DESERVED EVERY DOLLAR WE TIPPED HER! I ordered a cucumber margarita and they went out their way to go to a grocery store to get me a cucumber! Not only was the customer service amazing but the food matched the energy as well! Talk about hidden gems, not only is this place nice but they are super clean and the food is really good and fresh. The staff is very friendly kind and respectful. They follow COVID-19 regulations including the mask regulations too, In my opinion this is a place I would take my friends and family to hang out and eat it's nice safe and clean. read more
