I've definitely enjoyed OHot over the past few years that they've been in Abington. Things started out amazing when they first opened. The portions seemed to be larger, with a lot of corn and potatoes in the takeout orders. More recently, prices have gone up and the portions have come down. I dined in with a few friends and while the food was good, there was hardly any corn or potatoes with our meals. On a recent visit we almost did not enter the restaurant because the store front is dark and dingy, off putting. However we did enter and were pleasantly surprised not only by the decor but also by the friendly staff. The efficient friendly service continued throughout our visit. I have no clue what I did in my life without discovering these Cajun boil bags but I'm so glad I did.... This is the second restaurant that specified in these boil bags and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I don't get them spicy just a little spice but not anything hot. So I have been looking forward to trying this little place and tonight was the night. The name made my wife concerned that everything would be spicy, but that's not the case. I was excited to see Po'Boy sandwiches on the menu. We ordered an oyster and a shrimp Po'Boy. They come with a choice of fries or soup. Clam chowder was our choice! I also ordered the catfish basket which also came with fries and your choice of sauce. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but it wasn't even 6:00 yet. My order was brought out shortly after arriving and packaged quite nicely I might add. As we drove home different aromas were coming from the bag only making more excited to try it. The sandwiches came with a sauce on the side and the bread was a perfect match. Both sandwiches were still hot and had great taste without being greasy. The chowder was quite tasty and yet was a little different which I liked. The seasoning was perfect for me. The catfish was piping hot with a light batter. It was perfectly cooked and flakes apart. I've been here twice within the past week and both times the food has been delicious. Stopped last weekend to get my partner's mom a crab boil and shrimp basket. She was kind enough to share and wow, the shrimp and fries were both well seasoned and tasty. I returned today for my own crab boil with lobster, crab and shrimp. I also got the clam chowder and mousse cake. The clam chowder was good I would definitely order it again. I've had clam chowder at about 5-6 different restaurants this year alone and this was a good one. My seafood boil was good although I do feel like it was a little light on the sodium. Some extra old bay I think could fix that. I got the spicy Ohot and could have gone with extra spicy in retrospect because honestly it was just flavourful not spicy. I do feel like it was slightly overcooked, it was very difficult getting the shrimp fully out of the shell. I did appreciate that the corn wasn't mushy like many boil spots. The mousse cake was okay. The cake portion was a little dry but the mousse was creamy and delicious and made up for it. Being a baker and a chocoholic I'm very critical of chocolate cake so take that with a grain of salt. Went in for fried fish- ended up getting the po boy fish sandwich it was not bad actually tasted good for the little bites I had. My only problem was is that they give you this crispy fried tiny piece of fish on this huge bun. I just left Virginia a few weeks ago and they give you like three four piece of fish on a sandwich. Big difference!! For what ohot is charging - 12.99, I felt like I had a piece of Ms Paul and not the square patty! My sandwich had pieces that were so hard they crumbled so that's not fish. It was grease. I also had the shrimp rolls they were excellent. The waitress service was great! I would give this place another try, because I think they have a nice menu and more to offer, but they can't be cheap on your food. That sandwich was less than a shorty wawa hoagie, so passing on the po boy fish sandwich. read more

The food was very, very good. The fish was very fresh and cooked perfectly. I don't prefer the sauce poured on (two much butter for me) so I requested it , spicy, on the side. It's so so so much butter that the spice all settles to the bottom of the bowl. We ended up pouring most of the butter out and then it was perfect. Unfortunately, our server wasn't sure if the kitchen could make certain accommodations (like the same amt. of spice with only 1/4-1/2 the butter) . Service was friendly but inexperienced. My husband and I ordered lunch from OHot this afternoon. We both got shrimp po'boys, which come with fries. We also ordered hush puppies and a side of cole slaw. The po'boys came with 5 huge fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and a sauce on the side. The hush puppies come with the same sauce. The fries that come with the sandwich are the battered kind. We thoroughly enjoyed everything! It was fresh and delicious. We are excited to try the seafood platters in the near future. Highly recommend!! read more

This is the absolute worst place I have ever eaten seafood. I I should have known based off outside atmosphere of the store. It speaks dump, but I had read a comment that said don't judge the food based off the exterior. Well that was completely wrong.. the flounder french fries and catfish my husband and I had taste just like grease. We didn't even finish it. This spot sits in the middle of a plaza but is SERVING some delish seafood. A bit on the pricey side but I feel like that is to be expected for seafood restaurants in general. I ordered quite a few items cuz I'm indecisive. The OMG combo had a great assortment of ez peel shrimp, little neck clams, andouille sausage (I believe) and a couple snow crab clusters. Kept this combo in the OHot sauce at a mild spicy level since I was sharing with my guy... he can't handle the heat. I believe the OHot sauce is Cajun spices combined with old bay seasoning and minced garlic in butter. The OMG combo was CRAZY GOOD! Also ordered 1/2lb black mussels which were plump and delectable in the garlic butter sauce. The 1/2lb crawfish order required that OHot sauce at the spicy level. I loved the heat of this dish and it had my nose running lol! Each seafood order came with corn & potatoes in the bag, soaking up the great flavor from the sauce. The hush puppies with the mayo creole dip was a great accompaniment. I was spontaneously drawn here by the Grand Opening banner (announcing their replacement of what was http://yelp.com/biz/hunan-village-abington Hunan Village, which had been there at least a decade). Based on what I read herein before entering, I had the Shrimp Po Boy in mind. I asked what to get; server suggested the Chicken Po Boy, which he likes best because of its mass (and he likes chicken, perhaps better than shrimp). I got the Shrimp Po Boy and drove 0:10 home. (I'm no Po Boy connoisseur, but quite enjoyed those I frequently ate in New Orleans.) It was well packaged and still warm (and not soggy) once home. An ample (4 oz) portion of tasty (mayonnaise-based) remoulade was provided in a separate container. The batter-fried shrimp were large and perfectly delicious. The roll was fresh and tasty. The 'dressed' sandwich was as good as those I had in NOLA. The sandwich comes with a side (soup or French Fries); I got the clam chowder, which was pleasant, but not great. Food 5 stars! Experience 3.5 stars Such a delicious experience! Ordered their Po'Boy shrimp sandwich, OMG house combo and calamari. The combo came with 1lb of shrimp, 2 clusters of snow crab, 1/2 of clam and 1/2 of sausage for $50! Great deal in my opinion and was so DELICIOUS! You couldn't tell it was carry out! The shrimp PoBoy was also delicious but sadly didn't do as well in transit. Considering how great the boil was the calamari was underwhelming but but good and crunchy. Ordered a Friday night around 6pm. The downside was the wait for pick up. When ordering online the confirmation said it would be ready in 10-20 minutes. (SUPER easy to order thru their website. ) When I arrived 20 mins later ( assuming it would take longer given the day and time) the lobby to the restaurant was pretty full 15-20 people. Ultimately I ended waiting and additional 30 mins for my order to be ready. The lobby was filled with several disgruntled customers also waiting for their order. Over all not a big deal considering the quality of the food, but next time will allow more time for pick up and wait in my car. Given covid, I wish the restaurant would do give more accurate wait times to avoid a large crowd in their small entrance to better protect staff and customers. read more
