First for those of you who mention BBB you should realize that not everyone buys into it, and I had an RV Place take advantage of me in the past and when I threatened to write to BBB they laughed. We're not members so write all you want they said, so for others that think the BBB is so awesome I as a consumer and father of 4, Pop-pop of 6 beg to differ with you. Now, as for Ocean Extreme and its staff & owners I've personally known Cory and Emily for several years. In that time I've not seen a couple of nicer people that are in business. Emily goes out of her way in every class she teaches to help EVERYONE and keeps her fees so low I dont know how they can afford to drive there with their equipment. They always coordinate SUP Socials, SUP Moonlight Paddles, SUP Yoga, and SUP Surf Lessons( they sometimes ask folks for a few bucks if they have their own equipment other wise their fees are the cheapest around). They have a large Kite Selection, SUP collection and they now even carry the Bote Paddle-boards that all the guys want so they can fish off of them in comfort. Those boards are awesome.. They allow people to try boards which most places don't, they go out of their way all the time to help teach beginners and make sure during our socials everyone has their legal items as SUP's are considered Vessels.. Great people and great prices... Go see their inventory or let them take you on one of their SUP outings. You wont be disappointed . read more

Ocean Extreme Sports - Tuesday Morning Beach Yoga - Kiteboarding Near Me

If you're looking to get kiteboarding lessons you might want to think twice before starting them here. I signed up and paid my $500 for the classes. Cory and Emily are both knowledgeable when it comes to the sport and very talented riders. However, they are not very good at teaching the sport to new riders. Emily is a nice gal, but when teaching her body language speaks volume. I could tell she was frustrated with me multiple times and she was short and a little rude a few times on some things I was asking about or doing. Cory is a better teacher in my opinion of the two. However, the real problem here is the lack of communication and follow up with their customers. Once you get your first lesson scheduled and done with and have everything paid for they drop off the face of the Earth. You have to constantly call them to get them to schedule your lessons. No, they won't follow up with you to schedule the next one. I had all my lessons complete and just had 2-3 hours left of riding on my own to fill out the 12 hour required session. I finally gave up and moved on. They didn't contact me for the final lesson and I never got my IKO certification card. If you look hard enough there are local kiting instructors that will teach you far better than you'll probably get at OES. The kiting community in North Jax is quite large so look around the community or go to the beach and just ask a kiter if he/she knows anyone to help you get certified. OES gets a lot of business because they are frankly the only business in the area that offers lessons like this. I think they could certainly improve a ton and be a great business, but they need to work on customer satisfaction, communication, and how to teach more effectively. The store itself is stocked pretty well with kiteboarding gear, stand up paddle boarding, and other items both new and used. Cory could order you anything you need and get a good price on it I'm sure. But when it comes to lessons they just miss the spot in my opinion. read more

The passion and years of on the water experience gives them the edge when recommending gear for your skill level and riding style.They host more demos than any other kite shop and are always willing to chat about the sports. My boyfriend and I did sup yoga with Emily. She led an awesome class, it was fun and we felt really great afterward. The setting was beautiful- matanzas inlet on a Saturday morning. Our practice at one point was interrupted by dolphins. If I lived nearby I'd go every time. read more

We came here to rent a couple paddle boards. They were very nice and educated us on some of the boards and told us some places to go paddle.

I have bought two complete kiteboard set-ups and a standup paddleboard set-up from OES. They did everything they could to work with me and get me fully equipped within my budget. They also have fun kites for kids, boogie boards and other fun family beach toys. I consider OES my "shop". Their inventory is extensive and one will most likely find for what they looking in-stock. After shopping around, I was stoked to find a shop minutes from my house and literally right around the corner from a great beach access point with a fun break! Oh, did I mention that OES let me demo paddleboard before I purchased? Yep!! Great selection, great people, great service. I could go on, but I think I made my point. 5 stars. BOOM! read more

So, in my month long quest to find a water sport I could excel in, I signed up for one SUP lesson with Emily. She is a kind and patient teacher...encouraging and absolutely not embarrassed that this student has absolutely no coordination at all! I had a blast, my classmate (and spouse) had a blast. Cory is the best. I lost one of my spacer-extension for an Airush Smartbar and tried everywhere, even Airush. He came up with pair and shipped them free of charge.
