It's $2 to walk out on the pier ("Sightseeing", per the sign) but it's worth it. It's a beautiful view! Today was incredibly windy - so bad that I had trouble holding my binoculars in place while looking for birds. But I was able to log 9 bird species while there, just watching them fly by and/or on the beach. There are benches for sitting, but they did have the end of the pier blocked off. See other reviewers for speculation on why. There's also a pretty popular Farmer's Market that sets up every Wednesday in the parking lot in front of the pier. It's popular enough that we witnessed traffic bottleneck there, so be mindful of that.

I ended up loving it so much that I came back every single day. The staff in the shop are incredibly kind and welcoming--they really make the whole experience even more enjoyable and get you excited about fishing. Our teacher Sergei was very patient with us beginners and because he liked our group he tacked on extra time just for us! Sweet! The coupon I got said private lesson, but I preferred it this way in a group setting. There were 3 other groups besides me, but we all got enough time for our turn. Sergei had a lot of good advice and tips to help us control the kite and for our safety. Basically the lesson consists of three different steps. First, you stand still and learn how to control the kite. Then, he straps you to it and you let it rip! The final step of the lesson, you hold onto Sergei as he controls the kite and you fly through the water as the kite leads the way! Definitely a lesson in how powerful those kites are. That kiteboarding thing is no joke. If you are serious about learning you will have to go back for more lessons. But this session was definitely a great way to "test the waters" to determine if this is a new hobby you will really want to pursue. For the water adventurer in you, give this place a try!
