When we reached out for clarification, the response from the host was dismissive and unwilling to work toward any reasonable compromise or resolution. To be clear, our family was not looking to host parties or be disruptive. We simply wanted to enjoy the hot tub quietly after spending the day caring for toddlers and family activities. Responsible adults should not automatically be treated as if they are going to create problems. What made the experience even more frustrating was the inconsistent explanation provided afterward. We were told the hot tub was for "day use only," yet nowhere in the listing did it clearly define specific usage hours before booking. Had these restrictions been clearly and transparently disclosed upfront, we would have chosen a different property that better fit our family's needs. Customer service and clear communication matter, especially when families are spending significant money on accommodations. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling misled and disappointed.

Bruce was very responsive when we reached out in June for estimates on our deck replacements. His…read moreestimate was affordable and we felt assured when he came out to see the project as he commented on what was required according to code (apparently our dilapidated decks were not compliant and none of the other contractors we consulted with made mention of this). Bruce confirmed his availability for install beginning in late October at that time and we coordinated via email as that time approached. Bruce and his team do very great, thorough work. They were all very friendly and trustworthy. We are very pleased with our deck replacements and the dry rot pieces they both identified and replaced on our front support columns. Bruce also hung up our new address numbers for us at the conclusion of the project, which was a big help for us! We did not receive an invoice until the very end of the project (after 3 of 4 payments were made), but did receive one nonetheless. Despite this, we don't have any concern about Bruce and his team coming out to repair anything that should arise. Though, we don't expect that to happen based on the quality work they provided. Their focus is on their craft, not the administrative pieces of the business. I highly recommend Shaffer & Sons and will keep Bruce's contact information should we, our friends, or family members require any work completed in the future.

I tell the 3 other companies that I'm all set and send them away. Then I get an email that cancelled my appointment. I called to see what the problem was and "Whoops" , was all they said. Carina who answered the phone was upset that I couldn't just reschedule 9 hours later, after my move. I told her that this is life, and it happens. Somehow she just got more aggressive and was laughing at me. She finally told me that Someone had booked a full-out of state move right after I booked with Christian. So they picked the biggest job. I cannot imagine a larger disparity between the two I spoke to. But at the end of the day they both left a disabled person out in the cold.
