OSJL offers a variety of items for sale at discount prices. Seniors 62+ get an additional 20% off food items when shopping bright and early Monday mornings. Bonus savings. Food items include coffee, tea, juice, cereal, nuts, snacks, canned seafood, canned veg and other shelf stable items. I signed up for the Job Lot insider program which offers additiinal savings on specific items which change over time. For example, Pannetone is 2 for a dollar atm. Much of the inventory rotates seasonally. Right now (February) they have gardening supplies such as raised planters, potting soil, pots and seeds. They usually have bird seed and other outdoor items as well. Area carpets are always in stock as are a mix of household storage items, cooking needs and cleaning products. Clothing options also rotate with the seasons so winter coats and mittens in the cold weather, swim suits and t-shirts in warm. Definitely the sort of stop you make to 'see what's in stock' while also being a reliable stop for jams and such. Staff are usually busy and helpful when asked. They share a large parking lot with other businesses and handicapped spots are located near the door. Sometimes the aisles are cluttered with lots of inventory, sometimes shelves are empty: especially when the seasonal items are turning over. Still, it's all nearly organized. read more

This Ocean Job Lot had a lot of fun, inexpensive items when I stopped by. I spent some time checking on their seeds and flowers. Their selection of vegetables and fruits was really complete and priced very well. It really is a great closeout store to shop at, most of the items are easily 20-40% lower than other stores, but you do need to know your prices. Some things are not a good deal and some things are even higher priced. Just do a bit of research and know your prices. read more

I go to my local Job Lot several times per week. I often find organic food products at excellent prices and other things I may need around my home. Along with others here, I am not a fan of the VERY LOUD MUSIC playing non-stop, interspersed with incessant sales pitches over the loudspeakers. You will hear the ads repeated SO many times that you'll have them memorized before you leave the store! .... truly mind-numbing. I have often left before I was done browsing just to get some peace. Also, the pressure to get the crazy deals card, if you don't want one. UGH I do have one, but, there should be no pressure at all. I am also not a fan of asking us constantly to donate to the charity of their choice. Very often, it's a charity that doesn't even support my local community -- instead supports a foreign country! So, NO thanks. Americans are suffering -- charity begins at home. Additionally, the carriages at my particular store are older than the hills and quite noisy and awkward to push. It would be great if they invested in new carriages. I very much appreciate their employees, most of whom are very nice and professional and I am grateful for the money I have saved over the years. TIP for customers who like to buy their food: CHECK those expiration dates, since the reason you're getting a great deal, is because some distributor did not want to get stuck with outdated food and passed it along to Job Lot at a deep discount. So make sure you purchase only what you know you'll use before that expiration date and don't stock up on anything that could get wasted. If the charity/sales pitches and loudspeaker/noise issues were resolved, along with new carriages, I'd happily come back give them 5 stars for their hard work! :-) read more

Cheap Stuff, but harassing cashiers. You have to say no like 3 times that you don't want to join their club membership. Then you have to say no to donations. This is every visit! I try to avoid this place, but my girlfriend still drags me here on occasion for odd ball purchases. Last visit I premptively said, "Don't ask me to join your membership or ask me for a donation. I just want to pay and leave." I was ignored and told they have to ask, yet I just gave my answers in advance. No brain cells, just robots. It's happenning everywhere this customer interrogation instead of quick simple transactions, but they are more bold, invasive, and pushy here! read more

Meriden Ct store The staff were great. All the people that interacted with were very helpful and friendly. It's good to see people that serve customers that are helpful and cheer full. This is getting a 3 strictly based off of good customer service. I avoid Job Lot at all costs. To me this location just like every other is gross and dirty. It makes my skin crawl every time I'm in there. I don't know if they use yellow tinted lights or yellow tinted walls to make it look so dingy and the floor looks like it's never been washed. I feel it's a black hole of junk. The only thing I occasionally stop in for is because they carry gluten free red mill products and Stop and Shop across the street never has it. read more

But recently, I had one of those experience wherein you feel they're being racist but it's covered with cheer and smiles. CAUTION! Crazy Deal cards not worth much. The value of the card is worthless if you want to purchase a sale item. I was informed when I purchased a crazy deal item that I couldn't use it for on another crazy deal item. OK, I accept that that can be a bookkeeping problem, but it can't be used on a sale item? More random shit than a backed up toil....ehh...cant say it. You know where im going. This place is like what Big Lots is here. Super cheap things with questionable origins. I say questionable in the same way you question half the electronics stores in SF. Its a crap shoot as to what youll find, as they never really carry the same things again. I found about 8 computer manuals, (missing back covers, but failry up to date) for $40. I also bought a case of canned crabmeat. Well, if by "bought" you mean "laughed at" and "crabmeat" you mean "a chimp in a nurse costume" then i guess it rings true. This place always smells like an open bag of dog food mixed with a wet nickel. At any rate, the new Weezer album should be sold here. read more

Beautiful store. Job Lot has really stepped up its game in the past few years. I have been shopping at various Job Lot stores my whole life. I remember when the one this store is replacing opened. I remember going there for amazing toys, not so much anymore though. Toy department has gone down hill. This particular location really looks like a discount department store. Granted I have been going to that store since Ames was there but it really does. I really wish they would purchase couches for sale like Building 19 used to it would fill that void.
