    Bought whale and love it

Cute coastal shop with some gems! We love our whale... see photo! Thank you! I love that there are unique pieces!

Perfect antique shop in Carlsbad Village. The set up here is genius: the windows and front part of the store draw in tourists and beach lovers with an ocean cottage themed section, but when you journey farther into the store, it turns into your typical antique shop. There are soooo many decorative treasures at this store. If I lived close by, I would surely be in trouble. The theme here really fit my personal decorating style, so much so that I found a piece that I've been looking for for ages. An antique wooden horizontal hat rack. I know, random, but I collect period ball caps. Hat racks are ridiculously hard to find and when I would find them, they would cost way too much. This was a steal at around $20. And don't get me started with the collectible book section. Spot on. I loved this store!

Such bitchin beachy antiques! Think of upscale Pier One mixed with rustic design and sprinkle of beach vibe plus ideas taken from Pinterest, and wam bam thank you ma'am, you get Olde Ivy Antiques! I actually came to the Carlsbad Farmer's Market and when I saw this store, my ovaries were exploding in excitement! Eclectic chic vintage decor to give your home a boost in the homey department as they have many one of a kind pieces. Also, if you're looking for a gift to give someone, but don't want to give the cliché gift, this place is perfect for house warmings, birthdays, bridal showers, and etc.

What a Beautiful store in Carlsbad!! Has the cutest antiques and trinkets for your home! The owner is super friendly and just bought this adorable driftwood Christmas tree. I'm obsessed with its originality!

What a fantastic store in the heart of Carlsbad! Lynne, the owner is so nice and always has wonderful things in her store! I ALWAYS find something! It's so fun to shop here! I also love the beach signs that every local should own or even someone vacationing that wants to remember their paradise. I just recently got an apartment in Encinitas and found pillows, coasters, candle lanterns, soap and a beach sign to make my little place feel like a home! Love this place and will continue to shop here to support local!!

Good times at Campfire in Carlsbad Village

Our boutique has been located next door to Olde Ivy Antiques since 2001, so we hope this review can offer a neighbor's observation that all may not know. Their furniture is made of vintage, solid, high quality wood - not of veneer/MDF (medium-density fiberboard) that is predominately sold at Pottery Barn, IKEA, etc. Their vintage collectibles and antique pieces are era authentic originals - not Made in China replicas as found in the big home decor chains. The owner, Lynne Petersen is kind, helpful, knowledgable, and has the eye of coastal design. She can definitely help you decorate your home with creative design elements that you will love. Their recently renovated website, oldeivyantiques.com has a terrific sampling of treasures. Check it out!

Olde Ivy, oh how I love thee! What's the best thing about Olde Ivy? Olde Ivy can keep my wife busy for hours while I wander around the beach or (shhhh don't tell....drink cocktails!) This is by FAR her most favorite store in the San Diego area. It's an adventure in antiques and collectibles. There are multiple vendors from which to choose and the affordable pricing makes everything tangible. In her words, "It's too much for a girl to take!" Unlike the mega-antique malls nearby & along the old 101 this store is clean, the merchandise is well displayed and NOT thrown together garage-sale style, musty, dusty, stinky & boring! Additionally the inventory is always changing, yet the quality remains consistently high. Then there's the customer service. One saleswoman in particular stands out.....Nancy. If Nancy is there, stay & shop. Unfortunately if the gruff owner is there, run away! The owner does great with display, but lacks human interaction skills. Nancy (a Connecticut native) is very pleasant, patient & knowledgeable. Olde Ivy is a "must stop" whenever we're in Carlsbad, we never miss it.

I window shop a lot so much to my surprise today when I find there is actually more to this store! Trendy (read pricey) little beachy shop upfront.... But guess what there's a back part I never knew existed!! Like a little consignment or antique shop with little individual booths of different items. Oh my what a sweet surprise! I only had just a few minutes available today but I'll be back!

This is my favorite seaside themed store ever! I see wonderful things for my home I never see anywhere else. They also have excellent quality vintage painted furniture. What's not to love? I will be back soon!

Bought, hand stamped vintage silver spoons and a pretty tea cup and saucer, nice!

About 10 years ago, I purchased a petite lift chair for my mother, who was 85 years old and about 155 lbs . The chair was wonderful -- comfortable, appropriately sized for a small person, and it lasted for years. My mother is now 95 years old, on hospice, weighs about 90 pounds. When Johnson interior sent me an email saying that they were having a sale I decided to buy my mom the chair again for her body size now. ecause the original chair worked so well, I contacted Johnson Interior to purchase the exact same chair again. Oh When I called, I specifically asked for the same model. When I went into the store to complete the paperwork, the owner showed me color options, including a gray chair color . I agreed to the gray color, believing it was simply the same model petite chair originally purchased. What was delivered was completely different. The new chair is oversized and appears designed for a much larger person It said bariatric size-- not for a frail hospice patient. My mother sinks into it, and the material traps heat. One day when I was caring for her myself and lifted her out of the chair, her back was completely drenched in sweat and her shirt smelt like gas and peroxide. She has bumps on the back of her hair line and her eyes had pink circles around them . When I contacted Johnson Interior, instead of helping resolve the issue directly, I was told I had to deal with the manufacturer myself because "too much time had passed." The problem is, I did not discover how bad the chair truly was until I personally cared for my mother for an afternoon Unfortunately, this was not my first difficult experience with this company. I also purchased a mattress from them that was supposed to be medium firm, but the wrong mattress was delivered. On top of that, finally they picked up the mattress and delivered a firm mattress. Upon receiving the Firm mattress they delivered it took off the cover and then it's the second bedroom so when I went in there like a day later it smelt so bad so I contacted the company and said that it smelt really bad . it had a strong chemical/plastic odor. Again, Johnson Interior directed me to handle the problem with the manufacturer myself. I had to file claims, coordinate inspections, and spend valuable time dealing with the issue while also working full-time and caring for my mother on hospice. Eventually, the manufacturer's inspector confirmed the mattress was defective, and I finally received a refund. My frustration is simple: when a business sells a product, they should stand behind it and help their customers when something goes wrong. Customers should not be forced to chase manufacturers, file claims, and manage the entire process themselves. Caring for a loved one on hospice is already emotionally and physically exhausting. These situations added unnecessary stress during a very difficult time. Based on my experiences, I would not recommend Johnson Interior. I would give no stars but it's not possible to do that. What would be improved how about good customer service and giving grace to people who have busy lives and being honest.

I had them stage a modern townhouse in Costa Mesa near the beach. Unfortunately, the staging style they chose did not match the aesthetic of the property at all. I am not a designer, so I typically trust their vision and let them take the lead. This time, I reached out to their team and simply asked if we could swap out a few items to make the space feel more modern or beachy. I was told I would need to pay a restocking fee. That response was frustrating. I had referred them many jobs and clients in the past, and while the fee itself was not a large amount, it felt unnecessary and left a bad impression. They did eventually waive the fee, which I appreciated, but the situation already felt mishandled. Fast forward a bit. The property did not sell, and I requested that it be de-staged. Their team came out a few days later and removed the furniture. A few months after that, they emailed both me and my client, who was the actual party to the staging contract, claiming there was a prorated balance due for a few extra days the furniture remained in the home. The amount was under $400. The contract was between my client and 1st Stage, not me, so I was confused as to why I was included. Shortly after, Mark Sutton emailed me directly asking if I could take care of the payment by the next day. I found that extremely unprofessional. Agents are the ones who bring them business, and asking me to personally pay an invoice that had nothing to do with me showed a real lack of business judgment. I expressed my disappointment with their customer service, and the only response I received was a payment link. If you are looking for a stager who truly feels like a partner and values long-term relationships, I would think twice before using this company. In my experience, once an issue arises, you are treated like just another number, and preserving relationships does not seem to be a priority.

Which was such a breath of fresh air in this very active real estate market. Being a Realtor. I know all companies that are associated with real estate are experiencing lots of volume so that was very quick considering the market. To be honest I was in such need of moving this project forward. What a wonderful blessing we got started right away! I had moved into a new home and with the exception of a desk/chair and a bed. I only brought items that fit in a box. Or went in the closet. I initially contacted Blythe so I can get a design to get some furniture etc. but I had boxes all around the parameter of my home and couldn't get to the design until we went through all the boxes and had everything organized and put away. Over the years we can accumulate so many items that are so precious. IE: just to name one category. I had been saving a variety of keep sake items from over the years that were also in cardboard boxes and felt stuck not knowing what to do with them. I didn't know where to start. When Kate arrived she rolled up her sleeves and got to work. We opened every box and went through absolutely everything. She made what looked so overwhelming a breeze. She was able to help me discern what to keep and what to purge. I had a hard time parting ways with items I hadn't used in I can't even remember the last time I had used them. I even had kept boxes from vacuums and other appliances that she kindly pointed out were taking up space that we could use to organize other items in. Apparently, I needed the permission to get rid of it. Which when I did get rid of them. It felt freeing! We sorted through all sorts of items. Anywhere, from a variety of keep sakes (my daughter trophy's, various photos, bday and holiday cards I had collected over the years), office supplies, to electronics (she helped me discern what to keep - and what to recycle - phew - so nice to know you can recycle electronics), kitchen cabinets, cleaning supplies, cleaning appliances in a closet, to paperwork that needed to be shredded and had piled up over time (which I got done), misc. bathroom items, linen closet to labeling. By the time we were done it was after 6pm and we had lot of empty cardboard boxes to recycle. Even though she had been here for 4 hours on a intense and detailed job.... with a mask on... On a hot day. She wanted to ensure she didn't leave any task for that day not completed. She offered to help me break down and take out every last box (I live on the 3rd floor) which we did. Then we scheduled an appt. for the next day so we could get some containers etc. to efficiently organize the items. Bye bye cardboard boxes. What started off as a 3 hour process. Ended up being a 9 hour job over a span of 3 days. I'm so grateful Kate was available 3 days in a row to keep the flow of the process going. I can go on and on. When you don't know where to start it's sure great to have someone who is a professional organizer help you. Kate is experienced, professional, amazing, friendly, funny, jovial and someone you will feel comfortable having in your home.

While I wanted to resist and push back on those few things, I also wanted to trust the process and I am SO glad that I did. For example, I REALLY wanted cork flooring, or so I thought. In the end, cork really didn't fit our budget or overall aesthetic and we went with hard wood floors throughout the entire house. They are gorgeous and even the flooring contractor that installed them pines over them every time he has come back to see them. They changed THE ENTIRE look of our house. It was the very first thing that we did and it created a beautiful foundation, literally, that we then designed everything around. I say "we" but really it was ALL Olive And Oak Interiors. Hope sent an overall look and feel for the house sending a very comprehensive plan for each room that we were focusing on - entry, formal living room (which is still quite casual), kitchen, dining and main living areas. She sent a few different options for furnishings and decor for each space that I could mix and match. And only for a few things I had her source additional options. We also met at a custom furniture showroom to design a piece of furniture that would have cost me at least 2x as much had I ordered it from one of the big mail-order furniture stores. We were able to customize dimensions, cushion density, reinforce the spring construction, select the furniture base accents, and upgrade to a higher-grade performance fabric at a fraction of the cost - well worth the $ spent to have Hope helping me pick out all the details. Soon after I picked out the styles to move forward with, Hope went on maternity leave. She made sure I had EVERYTHING I needed to keep my designs moving forward while she was on leave. At first I was leary of mostly communicating with Hope via email, but this proved to be extremely efficient as I can only imagine for her juggling multiple projects it's a better use of her time. For me as the client it was perfect for having the emails to reference, especially when sources and links were provided. What I also loved about working with Olive And Oak Interiors is they are willing to provide as much or as little detail as I was comfortable with. I wanted help right down to the tablescapes, throw pillows, plants and wall decor. I truly believe this is where the entire look and feel came together. Without the right details to balance the space, it would not have looked the way I wanted, which is why I contacted a designer in the first place. We are only able to complete about 70% of her designs due to budget constraints and we hope to complete our initial projects in a year or so. But I will absolutely be looking to Olive And Oak Interiors to helps us move forward with 3 bathroom renovations, an office, guest room and our master bedroom designs after that. Olive + Oak Interiors have been extremely communicative and thorough since my initial contact. I am thrilled about how our space is coming together and will post photos once we have a few more details buttoned up. This is one of the longest reviews I have ever written but investing in your home is one of the most important decisions you will make and spend money on. Hope will work with you within your budget to create an updated and timeless space that you will absolutely love. I have never had the luxury of working with a designer before and that decision has turned out to be the best decision yet - at least with regards to our new home. Thank you Hope and Olive + Oak Interiors. We knew our house had so much potential and we now love being at home in our beautiful new surroundings.

What started as an exciting project that we patiently saved for turned into one of the most frustrating and expensive experiences we've ever had with a business. Hanin presents herself as professional, caring and passionate but in reality is quite opposite. She lacks accountability, is dismissive, and refuses to address concerns. Instead, she twists things around and makes personal jabs. She basically WASHED HER HANDS with us once we raised concerns and dissatisfaction with our room after the install day. From the beginning, there were red flags regarding transparency and communication. Despite our concerns, we trusted Hanin and Dominique to execute our vision. I provided an organized, detailed list of items- including dimensions, rooms, how many etc. based on my prior experience working in an interior design studio. I specifically emphasized the need for performance fabric (due to a cat, dog, kids and entertaining) and appropriately scaled furniture. These were the two main reasons we hired professional designers. This should of made it simple to have all the specifications. Yet, despite clear requests, they IGNORED OUR SPECIFICATIONS and delivered items that didn't align with what we desired. So once we raised concerns, instead of taking responsibility or trying to come to some resolution, they hid behind rigid, one-sided policies rather than making an effort to correct or make things right. Hanin repeatedly DEFLECTED BLAME and refused to engage in a reasonable discussion about solutions. Her only offer was to buy back items at a fraction of what we just paid- but only if we spent even more money ordering replacements through her. NO THANK YOU. Major Issues We Experienced: * Payed over 50% for window treatments we never received. Hanin canceled the labor, but we never received the fabric and hardware. * Spent $2000 on accessories during install day that we never saw before or approved. They were boxed up as Hanin delayed pickup for weeks. We returned 90% of them and still have not received the credit. She also charged pick up & restocking fees. She kept pulling money out of the credit we had through wire transfer. * Received a sofa in the wrong size. We payed for a 98"L x 35"H x 41"D, but what arrived was 94"L x 31 'H x 39"D. The back skirt was also defective. When we addressed the issue, Hanin claimed WE MEASURED IT WRONG and refused to fix it. We had no choice but to buy another sofa from elsewhere, which added unnecessary costs. *Ordered a sofa table that would of been 2" taller than the back of the sofa that came in too short. When we tried to cancel due to the backorder and other sizing issues, she only refunded 50%. * A coffee table that we now have to sell at a loss. The color is completely off and doesn't coordinate with anything in the room. *Four Lounge chairs that are comically short. We should have double checked whether Hide Studio actually honored our specifications for PERFORMANCE FABRICS AND CORRECT SIZING. Instead, Hanin's response was, "You approved them." But isn't it a designer's job to ensure client requests are met and that the room looks like a professional did it? * Two side sofa's that we assumed were in performance fabric turned out to be dry clean only. One of our biggest priorities in hiring a designer was sourcing durable, easy to clean fabrics that could withstand pets, kids, and everyday life. Despite emphasizing this need, Hanin provided sofas that are not performance fabric at all. We found they are grade S. Now, our cat has already marked them with his nails (with trim and caps), and we need to cover them every day just to prevent further damage. This completely defeats the purpose of investing in new furniture. *Paid over $3600 in warehouse fees and never received a breakdown or clear invoicing. After multiple attempts to resolve these issues fairly. Hanin has been unwilling to negotiate in good faith. We even attempted mediation- which was clearly outlined in the contract- but she outright DECLINED. She said we were harassing her. At this point, our only option is legal action. The lack of professionalism, responsibility and customer service is STAGGERING. I really tried to avoid writing a negative review and hoped that she would come to some kind of resolution after many months. We would of been happy with getting partial buy backs and returning the items that weren't right but that was never an option she gave us. I feel compelled to share our experience to help someone else avoid this situation. If you are looking for a designer who truly listens, respects their clients and takes accountability, LOOK ELSEWHERE. There are plenty of talented and ethical designers out there that wont leave you fighting for refunds on misrepresented items or bad design. Do yourself a favor and avoid this firm. If we can help just a few people then this review will be worth sharing.

Unprofessional, no transparency with costs. Original reason I had requested services was not…read moresatisfactorily addressed. You do not get to see furnishings until it arrives. Quality of services lacking especially with trying to communicate concerns.
