I got the opportunity to work with Kate Griffin on an organization job that I needed for my home. I contacted her one week & she scheduled our appt. for early the following week. Which was such a breath of fresh air in this very active real estate market. Being a Realtor. I know all companies that are associated with real estate are experiencing lots of volume so that was very quick considering the market. To be honest I was in such need of moving this project forward. What a wonderful blessing we got started right away! I had moved into a new home and with the exception of a desk/chair and a bed. I only brought items that fit in a box. Or went in the closet. I initially contacted Blythe so I can get a design to get some furniture etc. but I had boxes all around the parameter of my home and couldn't get to the design until we went through all the boxes and had everything organized and put away. Over the years we can accumulate so many items that are so precious. IE: just to name one category. I had been saving a variety of keep sake items from over the years that were also in cardboard boxes and felt stuck not knowing what to do with them. I didn't know where to start. When Kate arrived she rolled up her sleeves and got to work. We opened every box and went through absolutely everything. She made what looked so overwhelming a breeze. She was able to help me discern what to keep and what to purge. I had a hard time parting ways with items I hadn't used in I can't even remember the last time I had used them. I even had kept boxes from vacuums and other appliances that she kindly pointed out were taking up space that we could use to organize other items in. Apparently, I needed the permission to get rid of it. Which when I did get rid of them. It felt freeing! We sorted through all sorts of items. Anywhere, from a variety of keep sakes (my daughter trophy's, various photos, bday and holiday cards I had collected over the years), office supplies, to electronics (she helped me discern what to keep - and what to recycle - phew - so nice to know you can recycle electronics), kitchen cabinets, cleaning supplies, cleaning appliances in a closet, to paperwork that needed to be shredded and had piled up over time (which I got done), misc. bathroom items, linen closet to labeling. By the time we were done it was after 6pm and we had lot of empty cardboard boxes to recycle. Even though she had been here for 4 hours on a intense and detailed job.... with a mask on... On a hot day. She wanted to ensure she didn't leave any task for that day not completed. She offered to help me break down and take out every last box (I live on the 3rd floor) which we did. Then we scheduled an appt. for the next day so we could get some containers etc. to efficiently organize the items. Bye bye cardboard boxes. What started off as a 3 hour process. Ended up being a 9 hour job over a span of 3 days. I'm so grateful Kate was available 3 days in a row to keep the flow of the process going. I can go on and on. When you don't know where to start it's sure great to have someone who is a professional organizer help you. It pains me to revise my stellar review because I think their designers are very talented. But they must get things in order on the business side or they will continue to lose clients. While they work on hourly consult rates which is a refreshing option for many of us, on a recent project, my business was clearly not valued. Calls and emails were not returned for days or weeks, plans not sent as promised, all eventually resolved through my repeated follow-ups. The justified reason is that a bigger client was requiring all their time. Customer Service 101. I pay my invoices on time and without question. I will set aside the sales tax issue which required multiple emails to be resolved. The last straw was the requirement to pay for a 4th consult by a sharp deadline or my consult would be canceled. What choice did I have? I will find an interior design firm that will appreciate my business. read more

When I decided that I wanted to work with Blythe Interiors, I reached out about scheduling a consultation and the next day, I got a text about how to navigate to their site to setup the appointment and send them the money via PayPal. Several days later I decided that I no longer needed their services so I wanted a refund. I first called them, twice, but no one ever responded so I was left with replying to the text. After a few more days, someone finally answered back saying that they would contact management about the refund. A week went by without a word and I say, this is all very unprofessional and discourteous. I had no choice to but to reach out to PayPal to ask them to look into refunding me the money and when I informed Blythe about this, the response was "Sorry, forgot about you but we'll get the refund out." I don't trust them to refund my money in a timely manner nor anyone that lies so opening and takes advantage of its customers. I'll never use Blythe Interiors again nor will I recommend them! read more

Leaving this review hurts my heart because I looked hard for a design company that fit my aesthetic and I was incredibly excited to work with them on my project. My designer was Lynn S. I paid $7,875 for their services upfront and the text below was my final email to her explaining why I no longer wished to work with her. -email below- *notes* have been inserted to provide the reader more insight. *budget $30,000 for a 2 bed/2 bath 720 sqft remodel* I have been quite disappointed with the services and lack of support I have received thus far. The design concepts were never re-worked as requested, many details were overlooked when the "plans" were created, and the suggestions originally given felt as though they were not made with my budget in mind. Working with my general contractor and experiencing the process of a renovation, I have discovered there are many budget friendly alternatives available. Blythe offering custom cabinets *quote was $12,000* in the beginning were never an option for the budget I have, which left me feeling defeated. The offer for different cabinetry that was suggested after the fact, should have been the first suggestion. *my GC works with a cabinet company in LA and secured cabinets for $3,500* Additionally, although Ferguson's has beautiful plumbing fixtures, purchasing through them also contributed to pushing me over my budget *$6,500 in plumbing fixtures*. I would have appreciated advice to go a different route for plumbing fixtures. Since I am inexperienced, I didn't know there were options and hiring a designer was my attempt to gain insight and guidance. My experience with Blythe made it seem as though my project, with my budget, was impossible. As I now know, if I would have made more budget conscious decisions about plumbing fixtures, I could have met my budget. Working with my contractor has provided more guidance and insight on how to do so, and he has kept my budget in mind every step of the way. I never felt this way working with Blythe. If you could please provide me with a final itemized invoice for Blythe's services and refund the remaining balance, I would greatly appreciate it. read more

I was privileged to work with the designer Jessica Helbig at Blythe Interiors and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Jess is such an unassuming person with a great eye for design...she is the easiest person I have ever worked with on any project ever...I had her design 3 rooms and create a beautiful new outdoor patio...I am an artist and I know what I like...I always chose the first thing she chose for me..she understood me right away....One of the rooms was a new studio for all of my supples and a work table...I am over the moon with her design but I didn't see that one initially but I trusted her and we went with it...Six months later I'm still in awe every time I go to work up there. Also the contractor she hooked me up with is one of the most earnest people I have ever met...I feel so lucky to have had this experience...I was sincerely dreading it!!! read more

It was a delight working with Sarah Kaplan on the "renovation " of our new condo. Our highlight was a combination buffet, media unit for a long wall in our great room. Sarah was helpful in selecting our cabinet vendor, advising on colors, furniture and picture placement. Especially helpful were her comments on scale, since we were downsizing by about 50% from our previous home. Before employing Sarah, we made a number of purchases and selections through our builder and several furniture stores. Before buying our house, we knew that we would need help decorating. Our house is twice the size of the condo we were moving out of and we don't have an ounce of decorating genius in our bodies. My husband and I are simple people and we wanted to find help from someone who can translate our style into decorating genius. After reading the reviews of Blythe Interiors, I knew I found the right fit. Jen and her team actually address the average working family and use every day stores and shops that I would go to. They understand your budget and work with it. Tasha was amazing from the get go. From the consultation (which also included Jen), phone calls, and emails, she was extremely responsive and eager to join in. We were hoping for something that reminded my husband of home (Hawaii), and Tasha went above and beyond what either of us could have expected. The design was not "in your face" Hawaiian, but spoke to the feel of it. My husband and I were speechless and overwhelmed when we saw the big reveal. In terms of overall service, you can't go wrong with this company. My husband was pretty insistent on a couple of items, and we even had some miscommunications and misunderstandings (Sorry again Tasha!), but Tasha and Jen made it work for us. They actually care about your experience as a customer more than the profit. We didn't feel like "another customer" but actual people. That goes a long way in our books. Extremely disappointed by the level of attention and end result. Being a busy single dad didn't allow me to explore other options with other designers. Being our first renovation ever, we had no idea where to start. After a quick local search and reading some reviews I came across Blythe Interior, and WOW! From the very first consultation we knew we were in the best hands. We were matched with designer Lynn, who took us under her wing and guided us through the whole process. She listened to every crazy idea we had, helped us narrow in on design, and made sure to work with out budget. What stood out the most to us was communication. Lynn was so organized made sure to communicate any changes or updates that came down the line. While I was naturally stressed (renos are kind of a big deal), Lynn kept reassuring us and we knew we were in the best hands. She paired us with one of their contractors who also ended up being incredible and we were able to get everything done on our tight timeline. To add to the complexity of a renovation, I was pregnant and our son ended up being born a month early, right as everything wrapped up. The team was SO helpful in completing a final walkthrough while we were in the hospital, coordinating final touches, and making sure we were good to go before moving back into our house. Lynn's designs and furniture renderings were spot on with what we were looking for. It's amazing how she was able to take our very loose ideas and capture our true style. I spoke with the owner, who was very interested in my experience, was professional and not at all defensive, and provided concrete ways that she will or has responded to my concerns. For one, they dropped the vendor that was such a problem for us for the same reasons that we were so disappointed. After talking with her, I do believe that we did not get their best when we used them and would consider trying them in the future, working through the owner. I was in need of some backyard inspiration. I have one of those patios that's kind of 'in-between' and neglected and I really couldn't get the creative juices flowing. Jessi and I did a FaceTime meeting so she could see the space and help make some suggestions. I didn't know how much would convey via video (and it was raining!) but Jessi had the BEST suggestions! I pride myself on being creative and I thought this was a lost cause but Jessi pulled out suggestions that had never occurred to me and they really helped to bring the space together. Jen and Tasha were great. When I hired Blythe Interiors to "redo" my condo, I had no idea what I wanted. I admit I am difficult to work with because I can be very non-committal. We ended up doing a bit of remodeling in addition to decoration and design. Jen worked with a great contractor and between them they guided me towards a comfortable, eclectic space. We recently relocated to San Diego and the thought of having to decorate a new place felt overwhelming. We live in a very small space, only 800 sq. ft and so I felt like it may be too small of a job for a designer to help us with. After talking with Jen, she was enthusiastic despite our small space and worked within our budget. During the initial consultation, she came up with creative ideas that we would never have thought of on our own. Sometimes she shopped for us, which was a great time saver and other times we shopped together which made shopping a really fun experience. I was relaxed having an expert with me that somehow pulled everything together. We had family in town recently and hosted Thanksgiving and our small space, with the help of Jen, was perfect! I hired Jen to design our first floor. The process was stressful from start to finish. We experienced several setbacks that delayed our project approximately 2+ months. During our project, Jen had a family matter that she had to tend to, she was due to have a baby, she was in the middle of a residential move, she was working on business changes (expanding offices and staff, etc.) In addition, Jen's painter was unlicensed so I had to interview other painters that delayed the process even further. I felt constant pressure to get the project completed timely because Jen was due to leave for maternity leave. I felt Jen was not 100% committed to our project because she had too many things going on personally which she admitted. At one point, Jen wanted to hand me off to a designer she had just hired due to all of the reasons mentioned above. Clearly, I was not happy about it because I entered into a contract with Jen, not another designer. We were very understanding, helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. We always treated Jen with the utmost respect regardless of the situation. We generously tipped her vendors, gave gift cards to her staff and even sent Jen a baby gift. We also bought lunch for her whole crew on install day, which we did not have to do! We were great clients. Jen has very high-end clients; my job was small compared to others. All clients should be treated equally regardless of job size or total cost of his or her project. Lastly, I find Blythe's billing to be questionable. I do not believe providing receipts to clients is a standard at Blythe. However, I did request to see my receipts because I wanted to confirm that I was paying for "actual", not "projected" costs for services and goods. Tiffany in billing was very pleasant to work with. Thank you, Tiffany. My receipts revealed a few discrepancies including a $1K+ discrepancy in their favor. It was resolved. I would not have known had I not requested the receipts. I also found that the person who shopped for my goods at World Market purchased a soft drink on my tab. I paid it. It is not a big deal but it is the principle. On a positive note, our project was finally completed. On to Phase 2! I look forward to working with a different company and designer because Blythe has proven to be a bad fit for me. A client's needs should be a priority, they should feel valued and respected, but unfortunately, that was not the case here. Clients keep businesses in business. In response to the owner's comment below: Yelp allows users to provide and receive honest reviews about a business. It is well within a reviewer's right to modify and/or delete a review should their opinion of the business change. In this case, I failed to provide certain facts of what actually occurred. Omitting facts is a disservice to Yelp users. All the best. read more
