I normally do not write negative reviews, but after multiple experiences with Johnson Interior, I feel people should know what happened. About 10 years ago, I purchased a petite lift chair for my mother, who was 85 years old and about 155 lbs . The chair was wonderful -- comfortable, appropriately sized for a small person, and it lasted for years. My mother is now 95 years old, on hospice, weighs about 90 pounds. When Johnson interior sent me an email saying that they were having a sale I decided to buy my mom the chair again for her body size now. ecause the original chair worked so well, I contacted Johnson Interior to purchase the exact same chair again. Oh [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I called, I specifically asked for the same model. When I went into the store to complete the paperwork, the owner showed me color options, including a gray chair color . I agreed to the gray color, believing it was simply the same model petite chair originally purchased[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. What was delivered was completely different. The new chair is oversized and appears designed for a much larger person It said bariatric size-- not for a frail hospice patient. My mother sinks into it, and the material traps heat. One day when I was caring for her myself and lifted her out of the chair, her back was completely drenched in sweat and her shirt smelt like gas and peroxide. She has bumps on the back of her hair line and her eyes had pink circles around them . [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I contacted Johnson Interior, instead of helping resolve the issue directly, I was told I had to deal with the manufacturer myself because "too much time had passed."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The problem is, I did not discover how bad the chair truly was until I personally cared for my mother for an afternoon Unfortunately, this was not my first difficult experience with this company. I also purchased a mattress from them that was supposed to be medium firm, but the wrong mattress was delivered. On top of that, finally they picked up the mattress and delivered a firm mattress. Upon receiving the Firm mattress they delivered it took off the cover and then it's the second bedroom so when I went in there like a day later it smelt so bad so I contacted the company and said that it smelt really bad . it had a strong chemical/plastic odor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Again, Johnson Interior directed me to handle the problem with the manufacturer myself. I had to file claims, coordinate inspections, and spend valuable time dealing with the issue while also working full-time and caring for my mother on hospice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Eventually, the manufacturer's inspector confirmed the mattress was defective, and I finally received a refund. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My frustration is simple: when a business sells a product, they should stand behind it and help their customers when something goes wrong. Customers should not be forced to chase manufacturers, file claims, and manage the entire process themselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Caring for a loved one on hospice is already emotionally and physically exhausting. These situations added unnecessary stress during a very difficult time. Based on my experiences, I would not recommend Johnson Interior. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would give no stars but it's not possible to do that. I have done business with Johnson Interiors for 14 years. This includes buying furniture, rugs, accessories, lamps, and artwork. In addition I have purchased fabric and had some things reupholstered with their help. The furniture is good quality at a reasonable price and has held up well for years. After 6 attempts (unsuccessful from the Major retailers) to find a power lift recliner to replace my 10 year old broken one, I was fortunate to find Johnson Interiors in a search. I'm the first to admit that I'm not the normal user of a recliner. It serves as my bed because of physical limitations. I was amazed how knowledgeable and accommodating Meridee was about not only right chair but my timeline for a replacement. I cannot say enough about the service and items that I purchased here. Meredith provides top-notch consultation and really understood what I looking for even when I didn't. I purchased several pieces of artwork that really elevated my space along with several draperies and textiles. All added much needed color and sophistication and pushed me beyond what I would have chosen on my own. If you're not looking for that type of service, then go ahead and find items on Etsy or Amazon but supporting a local store that offers so much design expertise and selection is worth the couple extra dollars I may or may not have paid. We bought some beautiful bedroom furniture in Aug 2019, so I am a little late in writing my review. We had been looking for quality bedroom furniture and refused to shop at Woodbridge (bad experience). We came upon Johnson's Interiors/Furniture and glad we did. We took our time looking at the store and in their catalogs, no pressure sales. For our furniture delivery, the worked with us due to a family emergency. The delivery men moved our old furniture to the first floor and then set up our new furniture. One of our drawers ended up with a scratch , so they took the drawer for repairs. The drawer was delivered in a week or so and you can't tell where the scratch was. For our next furniture purchase, we plan to visit Johnson's first !!! I would definitely buy from Johnson's again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality furniture. read more

I have had incredible customer service from Johnson's- twice!! My search for a new bed became over whelming so I went to Johnson's and I received informative knowledgeable information on my bed purchase. My bed was delivered in a timely fashion by 2 Johnson family member's. They took great care and did a great job is setting it up and even returned with a special piece that I didn't know I might want to raise the bed. I also purchased a sofa table and experienced the same fabulous customer service. We have many very beautiful lamps, a mirror, vases, etc from here. Everything purchased from the Escondido store is top drawer. A gorgeous white leather sofa lasted over 20 years! But now we have 2 leather chairs that have developed holes in the top where you pull them away from the table after 3 years. Meridee is selling some inferior merchandise. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Meridee and Johnson interiors. It's a wonderful family run business that really cares about their clients. When my mom first moved to Carlsbad 20 years ago she used them to help furnish her new apartment. Now 20 years later my mom had to downsize and went back. They were just as great as the first time! Meridee the owner came to my mom's new apartment to measure and made a floor plan. Then she helped my mom pick out things she needed. Never did she try to upsell or try to have my mom purchase extra things. They have BEAUTIFUL, well made furniture at very good prices. My mom is now 90 and was very indecisive but Meridee was extremely patient with her. Meridee knew exactly where each furniture piece needed to go in the smaller apartment and made everything so much easier for my mom. Make your life easier and go to Johnson's Interiors.
