This place is awful. The first time I went in was not ideal (wait time and no imaging ordered for an MVA) but the second time was unacceptable. The woman I saw, Alma Depizzo, was extremely rude AND misdiagnosed me. She asked me what was going on and when I tried to explain, she interrupted me in a snappy tone and told me to sit on a stool so she could look at my issue. While sitting, I tried to guide her to the spots that were issues and explain that some of the tender inflamed points didn't look red but if you palpated the area then you could tell there was inflammation and a bumpy texture. She cut me off several times and kept saying, "I don't see anything. Nothing is there." instead of listening to me. I then tried to explain the timeline and progression of my symptoms, only for her to interrupt me again -- once more insisting that there was nothing there. I was prescribed low grade antibiotics and sent on my way. None of this sat right with me. I had scheduled a backup appointment for Monday and would hit the ER beforehand if it went further south before then. I went to my normal provider on Monday. Come to find out -- IT IS SHINGLES! They said if I had waited any longer it could have been worse and I would have been at a higher risk for complications. And the issues I tried having her examine? The ones she said she couldn't see? Blisters that were forming and swollen lymph nodes. It took my doctor less than 5 minutes and actually listening to me to figure it out. Don't waste your time here as it seems like not even the providers want to be there and do their jobs. (Also, on top of all of this she wore the world's thinnest "mask" made out of some nearly see-through cloth with no seal on it.) read more

Came to this urgent care only because it was the only open in the southbay at like 9:30pm. Pros- stays open late Cons- they try to charge you a $250 fee on top of the copay. It was an emergency so i ended up paying knowing it was a bit odd Couple days later - My insurance actually covered that fee and I tried telling the ladies and they did not understand. I had a disappointing experience during my recent visit. The nurse who attended me was rude and unprofessional. She questioned why I was coming in "so late," even though the clinic was still open and accepting patients. That comment felt unnecessary and inappropriate, especially in a healthcare setting where patients come in because they need care. The attitude I received from her made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable and she was not professional at all. If she doesn't like her job or taking the time to be patient and compassionate towards patient she shouldn't be working there because after all those two things should be a priority in healthcare. read more

Came here first thing in the morning for a suspected broken rib not knowing they didn't have x-ray on site (you have to go to another facility and it takes a few days to read). Paid $250 copay because I have insurance, and I had a short wait because 1 person ahead of me was being seen. The front desk staff were efficient and the provider I saw was super kind but let me know there wasn't much they could do for me without an x-ray, so I'd have to go to the ER or another urgent care with x-ray on site, which is fair. read more

In the middle of the night my daughter's breathing became labored. Of course care is limited at this hour - Ocean Urgent Care being one of the few options open late, I called before we drove the 15 minutes to this location asking if my daughter could be seen. The young woman on the other end answered yes, so long as we paid $250 along with our copay because they are a private facility. We get to the facility only to be turned away because they "aren't taking anymore patients due to the high volume". I express that I called prior to traveling here, to which the women at the front desk responded "well people just barely started coming in right now". I called them twice on the phone and told them my symptoms and was told that the doctor could diagnose me. When I got there I was charged before seeing the doctor or nurse ($99) A family came in and there Kid needed stitches and the doctor came over the counter and told him they couldn't treat him there and they didn't charge the family. And when I finally met with the doctor he asked who my primary physician was I said I don't have one I can't afford one and he said he would not be able to do anything for me it was the same situation as that kid but I payed $ and wasted 2 hours for his "advice" how he called it. I really appreciate that they take Medi-Cal, but I would not come here if I had more options. The staff and doctors unfortunately do not have good bedside manner and do not seem to show much concern for the patients' emotional experiences. That, or they just don't like me. I usually come in quite anxious or distressed and they seem to just be annoyed by me. I'm just trying to hold it together--I try to be polite but I don't know what else to do. I have gone a couple of times already when I had an issue they were not able to treat, and they didn't offer empathy or ideas on other resources. They said "just go see your doctor" -- I was only there because my primary doctor isn't available for the next few months. I hope this clinic team can be trained on personal skills. I don't want to feel like I'm an annoyance to them when I come in asking for help. read more

I had an ingrown toenail removed and received excellent care at this Ocean Urgent Care. The staff was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive--I truly felt well taken care of. What I really appreciate is that they're open until 11 PM, which is perfect for any late-night emergencies. Wow, I can honestly say I've never had a better clinic/dr visit in my life! I walked in (8:30AM) and was seen IMMEDIATELY. I was in and out in under 30 minutes with the necessary medications for treatment in hand (antibiotic and steroid). The cost was standard & in my opinion it felt very affordable. The nurses, drs, and other staff were SUPER kind, compassionate, caring, and efficient. I am so grateful for these women and the extra steps they took to comfort me and assure me I would be okay. I came before and the female doctor was amazing very empathetic and caring. But this time I came for my husband because he is experiencing numbness in his legs and fingers. My husband called beforehand to make sure they would be able to see him and the person on the phone said yes the doctor can diagnose you. So we go and we are paying out of pocket because we can't afford insurance right now. The male African American doctor with dreads was the worst doctor I've ever met in my life. He comes in and says he won't be able to treat him so I say so we just wasted time and money because we payed 99$ before even seeing him. All he did was question my husband why he doesn't have insurance. He never looked at my husbands feet body fingers nothing. All he said was I can't treat you. I said we already payed money for nothing we waited here for 2 hours for nothing. He said we got his "advice" I laughed because he's a joke! And he kept mocking my husbands pain saying you can't just come in here and say I have a tingle in my finger! I walked out of the consultation if you can even call it that. Was less than 2 min after waiting for 2 hours. Take your medical needs elsewhere, avoid this doctor at all costs. read more

I would give this place a 5 star but after visiting today I'd have to say otherwise due to the male doctor, who was very passive aggressive and shows no care whatsoever, my experience was absolutely embarrassing when he came in and asked two-three questions and walked out without tending to my other symptoms which I mentioned to the nurse. All of a sudden I hear him sharing my answers and symptom as a joke to the nurses and being very unprofessional by making fun of me. Dr. Covington and the rest of the staff are the only reason i am giving 2 stars. Be careful and make sure to ask which doctor is in, or you'll get the same treatment I got. read more
