So I've had nothing but great experiences at the clinic. But after a lab, I got a bill I wasn't expecting and paid after calling the company and negotiating it down. (It was supposed to be the cheaper option). Then about 4 months after my visit, the clinic charged my card on file $300. Then they separately sent me a bill for over $200. BILLING IS MESSY!! Be aware and monitor your credit cards. We love Dr Paul's office. He is a kind Doctor, and the staff in office is wonderful. It is nice to be able to schedule an appointment last minute for urgent care needs without hours of wait. My family (kids, myself, husband) have been in this office in the past few years sporadically. At times we paid a co-pay, have PPO insurance. Each time I received a statement it has been a nightmare. I attempt to contact the office and receive info to their billing accounts manager. This person is both very delayed, non responsive, and doesn't follow through. I am speaking to this after more than a handful of interactions. I've given them and the office grace as I understand insurance can be messy and mistakes do happen. However one of the times she insisted we shouldn't have received a bill from the lab as she handles them directly, but because we continued to receive paper bill from the lab I called them and just paid the amount afraid of being sent to collections. Another time my husband noticed a charge for several hundred dollars on our credit card even though we had not been to this office in many months. I contacted her and she said it was a mistake as insurance wasn't processed properly and that per office policy she then billed our CC on file. Would have been nice to receive a communication from her before doing so! She apologized and said she would refund the amount. Now I receive another statement for nearly half of the amount billed to be paid out of pocket. I'd like to speak with her so I call the # on the statement but it's actually the front desk of the clinic who answers- and they're not in charge of billing so I ask for the message to be passed along. There have been more instances in between but it's been nothing short of messy. I get nervous every time we get mail from this clinic now because it's hard to recall what happened a year ago, keep track of the CC transactions, and I'm always walking on eggs hoping she'll explain or at least call me- which she does not. I have asked the front desk kindly to pass the message along and that they should be aware of the billing interactions we've had over the last couple of years. If you are Dr. Paul reading this and want screenshots of my emails with said billing manager- contact me. I work in health care and hate to leave a poor review for anyone ever know the challenges on the other side. However you should be aware to monitor the billing carefully and your CC if you have one on file with this practice. Out of all the clinics myself, husband, kids have seen- this has experience stands out by far and I would love to see a more stream lined process or communication as we have enjoyed the staff and care at the clinic itself. read more

I have been taking my kids and myself to Dr Paul for years and have always had a great experience. Front office staff were pleasant and doctors and medical staff are great. I was disappointed to see though that they now only accept patients by appointments and charge money to make an appointment. Granted it's only $10 but I don't believe I should have to pay to make a doctors appointment. I get a charge for a no show. I wound up making a free appointment at Carbon Health as I walked out of Dr Paul's for 20 minutes later and had a pleasant experience there. read more

No one plans on getting sick or likes going to the doctor...but it happens. Glad we were able to plan a visit for a family member where we knew they would be well cared for. When we called we were promptly given a guaranteed time to come in, as well as the option for showing up early to possibly be squeezed in sooner. It was nice to have options especially when you feel as if you've run out of them. We waited a bit, but that was because we were early. They did their best to get us in sooner than the appointment time, and they did. But waiting wasn't a bad thing given the cleanliness and welcoming waiting area. The ocean themed office helps keep a calm atmosphere, which is also helpful. Overall a good experience, great healthcare with helpful staff. read more

So I visited in May and declined tests. My visit was $75 and I paid $75 at the time of the visit. Fast forward to this month I have a recurring charge of $300 every month. When I called my bank they mentioned it was in fact a monthly recurring charge. I called the office and explained what was going on. The receptionist asked if I received a bill in the mail which I have not. When I mentioned my bank said it was a recurring charge she immediately got defensive before I could finish speaking telling me I still owed them a balance from my last visit, which I PAID as reflected on my bank statement. She tried to tell me the $300 was a temp hold until I paid my balance, which makes zero sense considering if I actually owed them $71, why wouldn't they just charge me that? Anyways she told me to email the billing department because they don't have a phone number to reach them at. Comical, really. 0/5 stars for fraud and for attitude of front reception. read more

I called here to get a physical for school and had the hardest time. The website clearly says they offer physicals but getting one is a different story. The woman who answered the the phone was reluctant to give me any valuable information and ended up saying they couldn't do it because it required a snellen eye exam which requires taping the chart to the wall and having the patient read the chart from 20 feet away. The most annoying part is she kept asking why my pcp couldn't do it. 1. No appointments available in the near future 2. Just have your services offered page reflect reality. Someone take the time to post holiday hours correctly on the door and on your answer machine ( only mentioning hours until Dec 27) . Patients waiting in line for 9am opening on New Years Sunday AND at 8am Monday.. Luckily Exer in Manhattan Beach opened at 9am on Monday and several patients from Dr Pauls found their way there. Ya'll need to change your lunch hour policy. I'm surprised you don't stagger lunch hour, but instead put a sign out encouraging people to take a seat and they'll be seen shortly, when that isn't going to happen. I waited 30 mins and two people saw my son and I sitting there. No one said a thing. Was finally told lunch had just arrived (what were they doing for 30 mins while waiting for lunch to be delivered?) and they were starting to eat, so would be another 25 mins. Mommying definitely has its ups and unexpecteds and today I found myself having to go to urgent care with mini. This was my second time at Dr.Paul's and I gotta say that I really like this place. I called before I went to make sure they take my insurance. They answered the phone (if you know doctors office's you already this is a win) with a pleasant tone and gave me the information I needed. When I got there I was addressed immediately. The office didn't have a smell and there was only 1 patient ahead of me. The paperwork and intake process was minimal and they actually took my info to process their part while simultaneously letting me fill out the disclaimer and history forms just so we could maximize time. We were called within 15 minutes!!!! (Again, I heard of for urgent care) and saw the doctor within about 30. Mini had to get an X-ray for her injury and this was done on site too! I was able to get a brace and copy of the X-rays for my ortho doctor to see later, in and out in about 2 hours! Not that you ever want to have an urgent medical issue, but if you do, I highly recommend this office! read more

Untrustworthy and disorganized. A year ago my elderly father-in-law needed to get a COVID test in order to board a flight home. We scheduled an appointment with this "immediate care" clinic (which assured us over the phone they could do it) a full 10 DAYS in advance. The evening before the appointment (maybe 5pm), the staff called and said they were cancelling it because they were out of tests. No recommendation on where to go, no alternative, no reserves to accommodate the patient. Do not use your last tests and then cancel patients who scheduled weeks ago and leave them stranded. I went to Dr. Paul's last Sunday because i'd been sick for about two weeks with a fever and cough. My normal doctor is in Santa Monica where i work so I decided to go here as i live close by and wanted to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. As others have noted the office is spotless and I was seen quickly. I first saw a nurse who took my temperature, height, weight, and blood pressure. A few minutes later a physician's assistant came in. She looked at my throat, ears, and listened to me breath. She said my breathing sounded clear and thought my symptoms were likely caused by a virus. I was given a few prescriptions to make me feel better and instructed to see my primary doctor in a few days if i didn't get better. I was told i'd be charged $160 for the visit (part of my insurance deductible) which was the contracted rate with BCBS. Two days later when my cough hadn't improved I went to my primary care doctor who after listening to my lungs and hearing crackling ordered a chest xray. She diagnosed me with pneumonia. I've been on anti biotics and am still recovering 5 days later. Looking back on my experience at Dr. Paul's two things stand out to me: 1. I'm not sure if Dr. Paul's office has an Xray machine onsite (some urgent cares do others don't) but given how long i'd been sick it might have been smart to at least consider ordering one. Hindsight is always 20/20. I also don't know if the PA didn't hear the crackling in my lungs (maybe it hadn't developed yet) or she just missed it. On the other hand Dr. Paul's office did call me a few days after I came in to see how was doing. 2. Insurance or not the $160 that I was told i'd be charged just seemed high for seeing nurse and PA. One of the reasons I went to Dr. Paul's and not an ER was in an effort to keep costs (mine, my employers, and society's) down. They are in network with my insurance and I just expected to see less of charge. I'd been to other in network Urgent Care's before and not been charged anything. Maybe Dr. Paul's is just different for some reason that i'm not aware of. Overall i'm just a bit disappointed that Dr. Paul's office didn't catch or at least mention that my cough could be pneumonia. This is easy for me to say as I know diagnosing things is not easy, however, my symptoms were pretty classic. read more

If we could give Dr. Paul and his team 100 stars, we would. We rushed our 2 year-old son over after he slipped and split his chin open. From the moment we walked in the door, you could tell that this was a well run clinic. The front staff was lovely and efficient. We were brought back in just a matter of minutes. The nurse, Jazmine, was kind and immediately put us at ease. Not to mention, really good with our little one. Dr. Paul came is shortly after and he is the best! It's not easy stitching up a toddler and the whole team took part in making our little guy as comfortable as possible (not to mention really beautiful sutures that will likely have minimal scaring which I was worried about since it was near his face). I think it's important to remember that urgent care does not replace seeing your PCP or going to a specialist. That said, Dr. Paul's office is very quick, friendly, and affordable (I've never had any issues getting an immediate appointment)- so I recommend them if you need a quick opinion; however, on two separate occasions, I had a misdiagnosis from this office that made the treatment process more complicated as a result. read more

I've have had treatment here several times. Although i feel the wait time is extensive the care has always been on point! Today I brought my daughter in to have stiches removed from her hand, the waiting room was full with what you might expect at this time of the year, sick coughing people....I mean REALLY coughing... all with no masks on, even though there's a sign that says " Cover your Cough" with masks in front of it. This one child coughed, mouth open with the mom right next to her.... oddly enough, the mom did wipe the child's nose then get up to put on hand sanitizer... so she was aware of the danger... but just for her, not to others!!! I went to the front desk and quietly asked if they could encourage the sick to put on masks, they did, but not one of the sick put on one... so my daughter and I protected ourselves by putting on one. I feel more should have been done, no there isn't room to isolate them, but it should be enforced... if you are coughing, sneezing, contagious, YOU MUST WEAR A MASK! PERIOD! I have been to Dr Paul's several times now and I am 100% satisfied. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. I have never waited more than 5-10minuted to be seen. The last PA I saw was Dr. Christine and she went out of her way to research specialists for me, even reading patient reviews to get the top 3 in the area. They offer vitamin IV hydration and a hydration room with Netflix. They check in you at appropriate times and really make your visit a pleasant one. The desk staff was very kind, outside of that I cannot say much positive. I was given a short 15 min exam by a practiconer and prescribes some medication. I did not feel good about the exam and went to another doctor's office. Dr. Paul's office misdiagnosed me on the original exam, thankfully the doctor I visited after did some blood work to be on the safe side and found the real issue. Their billing office is rude and a mess, do not expect your bills to be handled properly or in a timely fashion. I was sent a bill 10 months after my visit despite my insurance company sending them information a week after my visit. They are not up front about pricing and ownership hides behind its employees when it makes a mistake. Go elsewhere! read more

Ditto on Dr. Paul's not providing a proper medical receipt. My wife was told on the phone he was out of network so we'd have to submit ourselves. Ok, that's fine since COVID is everywhere. After the test, all he give us is a receipt similar to a gas station receipt with the amount and date on it. No TIN or diagnostic code. Thus no reimbursement. Now it's too late to dispute with my CC company (I'd consider a proper receipt part of the service thus, I think, the CC charge is reversible due to lack of fulfillment). All they say is SORRY we were confused (which we weren't; they know Insurance Companies won't take their crummy receipts -- the IRS or AMA might want to look into Dr. Paul). read more

My wife went here a month ago and was misdiagnosed. She had an ear infection and a sinus infection and neither were detected by Dr. Paul's staff. After a few days of still feeling extremely ill, she went to her primary care doctor who after simply looking in my wife's nose and ears was able to properly diagnose her and prescribe her the right treatment. Fast forward to last week when I got sick myself. I figured misdiagnoses happen occasionally so I would give Dr. Paul's another shot (especially with all the glowing reviews on Yelp). Well, guess what? I too was misdiagnosed! The male PA who saw me was extremely kind and thorough with his examination but somehow still got it wrong. I was told I had an upper respiratory virus and to just ride it out, stay hydrated, and take cough syrup for my symptoms. A week later, I felt no better and went to my PCP. Once again, after simply looking in my nose and mouth, she told me I without a doubt had a bacterial infection--not a virus. She prescribed me a Z-Pac and after one dose I was already feeling better. I'm not quite sure why this happened to us. This place seems really professional and the staff is nice (so I'll give them a couple stars). But the fact that both of us were overlooked and misdiagnosed is hard to ignore. We will go elsewhere next time. read more

I've been going to this office for years. I've always loved the staff and just overall atmosphere of dr Paul's office. I know it's because of COVID that's it's become just the worst. I'm not sure if the front desk is new employees or distraught ones from the COVID drama, either way they have become so rude and shady. Beware going here for a Covid Test. It's impossible to file a claim with them through insurance. They were very rude and abrupt when calling in and requesting this information for my insurance cpmpany. Had I known this I would have skipped getting tested. Immediate Care is what Dr Paul is NOT, unless you have an appt. I took my wife to Dr Paul's Immediate Care after she took a fall. We were greeted at the door, my wife holding a bloody towel to her nose and banged up face, blood on her sweatshirt, only to be turned away because we didn't have an appt!!! That is not right. You can't take in a person that is in obvious pain and in need of IMMEDIATE care??!! How about taking the Immediate out of the name?? read more

I am amazed that a business would turn away a customer with PPO insurance. I have never seen a place so hell bent on me not making an appointment for a service they provide, to which I had orders for. The woman that answered the phone basically said don't waste your time unless you want to pay $95 out of pocket (my co-pay is only $35)...and on top of that her attitude was nasty. Not friendly AT ALL. Luckily, Exer Urgent Care (Manhattan Beach) provided the same service, I was able to get in and had my results faxed to my doctor right away. I took my (adult) son to the urgent care on Hawthorne and Sepulveda this morning only to be told to my dismay that there was a 2 hour wait So I jumped on Yelp and was immediately drawn to this office by all the amazing reviews. Called up and was told there were only 2 patients ahead of us and the current wait was about 20 minutes. No brainer. We headed over. The office and staff were everything I had read about and more. Every person we encountered from the front desk to the patient care team was professional, kind, friendly and ready to answer questions. There is even a board in the exam room with the names of everyone who is on the team for the day (see photo) and each of them was informative, stating who they were and what role they would play in the process. This is not only unlike any urgent care experience I've ever had but it's unlike any experience I've ever had at any medical office ever. I will come here from now on for all urgent care needs!
