Hello friends, welcome to Long Island on the first day of reopening following the covid shut down. I had no doubt as to which amenity I would choose on the first day back. No, it's not Lobster on the outdoor patio at Peter's.. not quite yet. I need a HAIRCUT or rather I needed them all cut I needed a haircut really bad. After 3 months of pandemic panic, my hair had not been this long since I went to the Dead shows back in the days of my hippie youth. Arriving at Long Beach, I saw a big beautiful sign by the road it said barber shop OPEN! I had heard of unavailable appointments for weeks and long lines of customers waiting. I was lucky, only 2 people in front of me. I thought I was going to get cut by a clipper tied onto a 6-foot pole. Just kidding. I was served quickly and with a smile, my barber wore a mask and quickly and expertly made a big pile of hair on the floor. A few sprays of the aftershave, and it was done I left the barbershop 5 lb lighter. It was interesting to feel the sun on the back of my neck for the first time in months. The pricing on the haircut was $25 and I threw him a 20 tip. Which I felt was appropriate. I am so happy with my clean sharp haircut and feel much better. This wonderful Oceanview Barber shop in Long Beach is very much recommended and covid-19 safe. See you soon. read more

Great place for children's hair cuts. Very hospitable and comforting barbershop. My 2,5 year old son got a great hair cut there today, the shortest he ever had even w the part lol The shop has a special sit for children in the shape of a red, sport car w the tv in front of it. That makes hair cut procedure much more fun and much easier for a parent. read more

I saw the yelp reviews were pretty good, so being new to Long Beach and not wanting to drive too far, i figured I'd give these guys a try. I found that they are very nice, I felt very comfortable in their shop, and I got a great haircut. They even graciously took me in at 5:55 pm when I (rudely) showed up 5 minutes before closing time! Thank you Igor I will be back in early March assuming my hair continues to grow! I would recommend the place, and $20 for a haircut seems to be the going rate. read more

why did both barbers act like they did not see me when i entered? after i stood for about 2 min waiting for someone acknowledged i was there? i ask if they would do a shape up for me and how much would it be? the short fat bald barber said" $15.00 & i only shape up the back and neck?" i said "you dont shape up the front" he said " no!!! only the back??? and the other barber act like i was invisible and didnt even look at me!!! i hate to pull the race card! their responses was racist & rude!!! read more

I decided to give Ocean View a try simply because it was a lot closer to me and it also got great reviews on Yelp. I was a little apprehensive at first (as i'm sure every guy is when they change up their barbers), but I showed Igor a picture of what I wanted on my phone, and he said that it would be no problem for him. He cut my hair and you could tell that he really knew what he was doing. My haircut came out better than the one in the photo I showed him. He was courteous, professional and charged less than what I used to pay for for a haircut. I highly recommend this barber shop, and I will definitely be back." read more

Best haircut I've had in a while. In Long Beach for the Summer, away from my normal barber in the city and needed a cut for a wedding this weekend. Igor did a great job. You can tell he takes great pride in his work in his attention to detail and he takes his time getting it exactly how you want it. Great cut with clean lines, straight razor neck clean-up and a beard trim all for just $22 pre-tip! $15 cut a $7 beard trim. The shop is clean, has nice new comfortable barber chairs and I didn't wait more than a couple mins. Check this place out if you're looking for a legit barber shop in Long Beach. Let me start by saying I'm a pretty lenient person. I've had people mess up my hair before and it was no biggie, a little dye or maybe cut another inch off and the problem was solved. This place left me with no options. When I walked in and said I'd like to get my hair done, they stopped me and said "we don't take woman" - first red flag. But I persisted and explained that I just needed my undercut touched up and I wanted to raise it about and inch. They let me in and I sat down. I showed a picture and even pointed and said I wanted it up to my temple instead of resting below my ears. Simple enough, yeah? I didn't ask for a fade or anything special, just touch up what was already there and bring it an inch higher. When he first parted my hair it was correct and I confirmed with him. Not sure WHY he went higher but he ended up going about an inch higher than that. But I digress. I was willing to just let that part go and try to work with it. I didn't even mention it, just paid, left a nice tip, and headed home. It wasn't until I was on my way home and rubbing my freshly shaved head that I felt something. I tried not to panic and waited until I was home to check it out. My fears were confirmed. The line of my undercut wasn't straight. The back goes up higher than the sides. I spent my day off crying and home and trying to figure out how to hide this terrible terrible cut. It's going to take me months to grow this out. Never never again. read more

Needed a haircut and I was next door at the bank, so with that being said I gave this place a shot. Igor I believe an owner listed to my hair issues/concerns and cut my hair methodically and precisely as I asked it to be cut. Nice new clean shop and is a tremendous upgrade from the old location. I am a hard critic of barbers so please keep that in mind. I've had my fair share of great barbers especially coming from Queens where there's a barber shop on every corner. I moved to Island Park almost 2 years ago and my main guy is a bit away so I decided to try someone local in a time crunch. I read the reviews and most importantly I saw the pics on yelp associated with Igor and Ocean View Barbershop so I decided to give him a try. Igor is a nice guy and works quietly, which I like. He is very technically sound, but I don't think that the pics you see on yelp are done by him. Maybe his other barbers, but not him. I showed him a pic of what I wanted and also told him what I wanted and I didn't get exactly what I wanted. It was okay and good, but not great. I also measure a barber's skills by his shaves. Again, just okay. Nothing special and he had to use styptic powder on various spots on my face. I haven't had that used on me in years. So if you want to get a quick decent conventional cut, Igor's your man. read more
