A sunny day on the ocean can't be beat! This company is new to me and maybe O'side. Compared to the old local company this place seems less respectful of the ocean. No refreshments on board - just race out to sea , hang out with the wildlife, and race back. The price and times are great (two hours, totally doable). I found the sound system annoying - too loud and scratchy and the narrator spoke too fast - silence would have been better. The speed of the boat was fun, but seemed cavalier among the wildlife. No whales but a large frolicking dolphin pod provided plenty of entertainment for us. I expected a little more reverence for the wildlife. But this is great way to fit in a quick ocean excursion on tour visit. read more

We surprised our grandsons with this trip! They were so excited. We saw dolphins right nest to the boat and the boys said it was the best day ever. Wonderful! The boat is comfortable and well maintained. The staff is friendly, professional and informative with interesting facts. We enjoyed hanging out with a huge pod of offshore bottlenose dolphins, seeing a fin whale, two humpback whales, a bird with a remora in it's beak and two absolutely amazing blue whales! We just went on their whale watching tour and it was amazing! We saw several whales including Blue Whales, Hump Back Whales, and a Minke Whale. The captain was knowledgeable not only where to find the whales but also shared much information about the different types of whales. Tikhon was helpful to all of the passengers and was able to answer any questions. read more

Went out yesterday on the 2:30 cruise. Captain and crew were super knowledgeable and we learned so much about whales and dolphins. He made sure that we got to see some animals! He went out of his way to find an enormous pod of dolphins. I would definitely go again! read more

We were hosting a friend from North Carolina. It was her idea to go whale watching. I had been on a previous excursion in San Diego and wasn't that excited, but the tickets were bought. Oceanside Adventures changed all that!! This beat SD's experience hands down. The catamaran was open and roomy with 360 degree views. We saw sun fish, a very unusual jellyfish, minke whales and dolphins a plenty. Chris was our pilot and guide, Ivy, our hostess, deck-hand, and spotter. They were both welcoming, friendly and passionate about their roles. They were knowledgeable and went out of their way to make it a special adventure, tracking an abundance of local marine life. Lovely day to be out on the ocean (1/6/24). Like the boat, giving everyone great views. Saw only one fin whale, but it surfaced about 19 times when we were tracking it, once pretty close to the boat. The crew was sending out a drone to film it, so looking forward to that getting posted. read more

We went on a 9.30 am cruise on the Saturday of Thanksgiving week. It was our second whale watching cruise ever; the first was with another company in Newport Beach. We like this one with Oceanside Adventures way better. The catamaran, including the bathroom (an important point for me and I think many women can related), was clean and comfortable. The crew onboard made the difference. They went around making conversation with everyone and sharing bits of information throughout the length of the cruise. You can see that they enjoy what they do, which in turn enhances your experience. We didn't see any whales during our cruise but we saw hundreds of dolphins, many in large pods. Some even swam alongside our catamaran. After the cruise, we had lunch at Joe's Crab Shack. It was a lovely way to spend Saturday morning. read more

Right outside of the Oceanside Harbor we saw dolphins and pelicans feeding. The crew was very informative. We weren't able to see any whales, but the cruise was fun and didn't feel like two hours at all. I will definitely go again and bring others. So worth it! read more

Chris knows the whales and where they feed. We saw a fin whale and a gray whale. He explained the different whales along the coast. Some migrate north to Alaska while others live along the California coast. We saw one of each. read more

Did a 2hr whale watch tour with my brother, sister in-law, and my nephews. No whales..... BUT we did see a super pod dolphins that were active, jumping and fun to watch. It was pretty special. So glad I had the day off. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to anyone who loves seeing animals in the natural habitat. I booked the boat for a sea burial service for my Dad and was very happy with the service. I called a few times with questions pertaining to the ash scattering permits and floral recommendations. Their customer service was excellent. Right before the ceremony we came across a dolphin pod that none our family even expected to see. It really lightened the mood. The people working on the boat were very kind and helpful. They helped us connect our phone to their bluetooth to play our music through their speakers and gave us the coordinates of where we scattered the ashes. It was a perfect way for our family to honor him and we will forever be grateful for Oceanside Adventures. read more

We had a fabulous crew and captain and in only 40 minutes, we are on feeding finback whales in only 150ft of water. They kept circling the boat and we were the only boat. It was amazing. And on the way in found a giant pod of common dolphin playing around the boat. Having a naturalist on the boat was really interesting. What a great outing. read more

Have a 6 year old that wanted to see dolphins; I expected this sort of thing to cost quite a bit and it to be hit or miss as to IF we would see anything at all. Figured that I would inquire. I was VERY surprised at the pricing. It was pretty reasonable for my Whole family of 7 people so we executed it. The day of, we got there early, the boat was bigger than we thought, tons of room to be socially distant while enjoying the ocean. We were gone a while and enjoyed seeing sea lions, and a couple kinds of dolphins. It was awesome to be out on the ocean and we could stand up, it wasn't scary, didn't have to put life jackets on everyone or anything. When we saw animals, they were super knowledgeable to explain all about them and everything to where we learned some cool stuff about them. The staff was super knowledgeable. If you go... bring some cash! You'll want to tip them and they sell snacks and drinks too. Bring some cash. read more

It was not just me, so perception and experience should allow you to make needed changes, If not, continued confusion will lead to more bad reviews. Customer feedback should be appreciated not argued as I was and so were 15 people on that day unaware of your desk or the "instructions etc." YOU ARE NOT ORGANIZED if this issue exists. Please dont send an update on how "organized" you are as we experienced a problem and wanted to help you. Lastly, listen.....please listen to customer feedback....an old saying goes...." a man convinced against his will is of the opinion still."..that means I know what I experienced and making academic claims on your organization does not make it so. Your tour is fine, check-in is poorly communicated in its present state!!! read more

I cannot recommend this tour enough, my husband and I live nearby and we've had so much fun being on the water and even seeing dolphins, whales and seals up close. We've done this tour a few times when people visit and we plan to go again before we move! The staff is friendly and always on the look out for sightings. Buyer beware! I booked a same day two hour whale watching excursion on thier web site, a short time later I received an email saying the trip had been cancelled due to lack of enough bookings. I followed the directions in the email and contacted them to find my options, after a short discussion I was told that since "I choose a third party " to book my reservation that all they could do was send a message to them to approve my refund (I booked my reservation on their web site). Fast forward two days and I havent heard anything so I call again and was told they could not do anything else and it was up to me to contact their third party vendor that sells tickets for them. The person I spoke with could not even give me the contact informatioon for the company. I researched on my own and found a contact number, when I contacted them they told me they could not help me because they had not received anything from the tour boat company. I was able to conference both of them on the call and was finally able to get my refund processed. WHAT A PAIN! read more
