Our lighting, draping and dance floor were set up by the magnificent John of OCLA Events. We got married at the Estancia in La Jolla, CA and John recreated the ballroom into a stunning wedding reception. From the beginning, he was such a professional and kind person to work with. We had some ideas for color and style for the ballroom, and John worked perfectly with us to make the room truly shine. He did an exceptional job with pinspotting on all our guest tables and lighting up my headtable, and our white dance floor was a beautiful center for the reception. John is the MAN! Since my venue came with absolutely nothing, I needed to rent EVERYTHING. From the tables to the chairs, and forks, knives, cups and even servers!.. and don't get me started on lighting and draping. Ughhhh. The process was daunting to say the least. My friend suggested OCLA since they're a one stop shop. John replied to my email super quick and knew exactly what I needed while keeping things within budget. He worked with me over the next couple of months as I increased the number of guests, changed the overall aesthetics/colors a hundred times and was so patient and professional throughout the entire process. He's seriously the BEST part of OCLA. The night before, during rehearsals, my in laws and mom were talking so much shit about the empty venue that it gave me anxiety wondering if I had made the right choice. I had the pleasure of working with John at OCLA for a special dinner party at our house in Palm Springs for 26 people. We wanted to have the event under a loggia but had to enclose the space with vinyl and air conditioning. This was in July 2021 and it was 117 outside. I contacted several other vendors in the area and no one - except for OCLA Palm Springs - would take on the job. The other companies didn't think they could deliver. I was looking for decor company to make my wedding day look the way I envisioned it. My reception was going to be in a pavilion tent and I needed it to look elegant with ceiling swags and chandeliers. I went through several vendors on theknot.com and WeddingWire.com, explained what I wanted, and received quotes from most of them. John's company was the one that gave me the most assurance that he can get the job done within my budget. We had several emails and phone calls back and forth to get the exact picture then had our first in-person meeting at the venue. He brought sample materials to show me and provided me with honest insights on how to make things look best in cost-effective manner. My husband and I had adjustments on the guest number until very last minute and John was flexible and adjusted our contract accordingly. On the day of the wedding, John and his team arrived early to give ample amount of time to set up. They independently worked with the venue staff to solve any issues so that I didn't have worry about a thing that day since I was preoccupied with many other things. The final product was beautiful beyond my expectation. Many of the guests complimented how gorgeous the place looked and how impressed they were. Lighting for the guest tables created elegant and romantic ambiance. The chandeliers and high-quality, sage green (my theme color) table overlay completed the elegant look that I was going for. Working with John at OCLA Events is amazing! I've worked with so many other event rental companies in the past and they always end up screwing you in some way, whether through fees after the event, late deliveries, late pickups, or flaky/non-responsive representatives. Working with John and his team at OCLA Events is the total opposite of that. He is amazing at working within whatever budget you give him. We hosted the USC Alumni Club of Orange County Casino Royale fundraiser at Lamborghini Newport Beach and I immediately knew I wanted OCLA events on board. Even with our limited budget as a non-profit, John was able to completely transform the space into an elegant event, which, at a car dealership, was a total transformation! He even solved our dilemma of the super bright car dealership lighting by bringing in light trees, pin lighting for the casino tables, and uplighting. He also made suggestions for lower-cost alternatives, such as swapping out hedges for lattice panels to cut costs. In the end, we used him for the white lattice panels to define our outside event space, cocktail tables, dining tables and chairs, all linens, a lounge, string lighting, uplighting, pin lighting, light trees, and a red carpet entrance. He even had the great idea to tie our cocktail table linens into martini glass shapes to fit with our James Bond theme! I can't wait to work with him again! read more

A pleasure to work with! We found this company off of our venue's preferred vendor list as our venue had very specific requirements regarding lighting. This company came in and did a phenomenal job both the lighting and the decor for our venue. John was a pleasure to work with and more than helpful. He often made suggestions that were cost-saving but ultimately to our benefit. John came and did a personalized walk through with our wedding coordinator to ensure he understood exactly what it was we were looking for on our special day. He then went through at least 10 different iterations of our estimate based on the various options he could provide, helping us navigate what he thought would work best for us. John was incredibly flexible even with last minute changes and continued to be a joy to work with through the day of the event. Ultimately ended up using OCLA for lighting and rental of chairs (chivari), chargers, sweetheart chair (ended up showing up damaged, but they were very quick to change it out and refund us), and extra tables.
