I dont know how what they do is legal. One person home, water only no trash or sewage and my water bill stays at $80-$100 a month. I have seen it be more. No one else that I know anywhere in the surrounding areas has a water bill that high- even with other services like sewage. If you calculate the monthly gallons of usage to the monthly rate it is not accurate. When I questioned it I was told there's a minimum usage fee added to the bill. I stated I have exceeded the minimum usage- so why Am I charged minimum usage? response: Minimum usage fee is on all bills- so it's a service fee? Response: no ma'am it's a minimum usage fee. Ok where is the fee in the bill. Response: Oh it's not on there we just add it to the monthly costs. It's not stated on the bill anywhere- you have to get a calculator to decipher what you're charged- response: well it just wasn't set up that way. The minimum usage fee is on the rates sheet on the website. Every year that fee has gone up/ it's up to $30 a month now. I have had three plumbers look and there's no leaks anywhere. Before I lived here my water bill was always $30~$40 a month on the high side- with kids. I moved here and it started hitting $80-$100. They've grown up and moved out and it's just me, less people in the home and the bill hasn't changed. Idk how you can have disclosed fees on a bill. The woman even told me once it's on Facebook well not everyone has Facebook. You can certainly send a letter when you're wanting money but not when you increase rates? or increase "minimum usage fees" that aren't itemized on the bill. You have to go the website and search it every month to see what it is and when it's going to go up. I wish this place would be shut down. And when I run water suds of almost like soap come out now the first few minutes before it clears up. is this not something mayor or a county Commissioner can look into? $80 water bill For one person, water only, and a $30 monthly charge that's just added into the calculation? It's like they have it set so no one's bill drop under $70. I've never lived somewhere a water bill was much as a light bill. This isn't inflation, it's price gauging and disclosed fees. The only good thing they had going was the waterline insurance plan, it was a great plan. But they got rid of and now want you to purchase separately and manage another bill. Terrible read more

They are a bunch of smart a**** there they wouldn't turn the water off when I told them to cause I moved. They said the person currently living there can come change it in there name. Then turn around and I got a big bill cause it never happened and they never sent me anything saying other wise because they didn't ask for new address. These place is nothing but a money scam and said we have to pay these idiots. read more

There's not much to say about a utility company that you have no choice in using. They have always been very responsive starting from the first day we moved into our house. I called a few weeks ago to ask about the quality of our water and a gentleman talked with me and answered my questions for over an hour and it was at the end of the day. read more

We have been customers of Ocoee Utility District since 01/01/06. There service has been mediocre at best. I don't think they read our water meter every month. I mow my yard weekly during the mowing season and the grass is so grown around the meter base housing it looks like it has not been disturbed for reading. I think they estimate the usage at times. Before I retired and moved here I was a municipal clerk in a small town. I know somewhat the state statutes are that govern utility companies and I don't think they follow them very closely. Also, the water always has a bad taste. We purchase bottled water for our drinking water. I have a water dispenser that holds 5 gallon water bottles so I purchase my water at the Culigan water station in Walmart. The sad thing is that like all utilities, there is no competition so you are forced to use whatever utility company that serves your area. read more

I absolutely hate this water company and I can't do anything because I have no other choice! To start, you have to pay $150 to just have your water turned on. It doesn't matter if you have accumulate credit or not, a few bad people ruined it for everyone else I was told. The day I took care of everything they called me about an hour later saying I needed to come back because they forgot to have me sign something. Nice, since I was all the way across town by then. Once it was turned on they told us there was a leak and put a note on the door. After back and forth with our landlord and Ocoee for a week we finally had water! Living here for almost a year and the water has gone out twice. The first time it was out for about 2 days. They never bothered to call or make an announcement you have to call them and ask where the hell the water is? Today the water shut off while my boyfriend was in the shower. Called again and they are "flushing the pipes". That was about 4 hours ago, still no water. Yet are bill keeps going up and up and I can't even confirm that they check the meter. Another issue I had was with payment. The only way to get out of their "convenience fee" is to drive up there and pay or setup auto-pay. I did setup auto-pay but they messed it up causing my first payment not to go through. Even though it clearly said Savings account they put down Checking. So they tell me I need to drive up there and pay it, don't even offer to let me do it over the phone even though it was there fault. I'll be stuck with them till I move somewhere else. It's sad that a thing as simple as water is such a monopoly. read more

The most infuriating utility company I have ever dealt with. My bank in Tennessee mailed out my payment on Monday and they said it didn't post till Friday, making it 1 day late. So now I have a 10% late charge and there is "nothing they can do". "They have to follow the rules." Never mind my payments are never late. And their prices are twice of what I paid in Hamilton county. The manager Tommy told me "maybe you are using more water." Um, nope. Same family size. It's been 3 years if misery and I'm looking into digging a well. I would happily pay $5K not to deal with these idiots. read more

Wish we had another choice! Nonsense such as convenience fees and horrible customer service would have driven us away long ago if any choice. The only good thing I have to say is that when we added a new service on another property it was done extremely quickly. If moving to this area be sure to consider options and the fact that much of their coverage area is only septic in a large portion of their coverage area. Not their fault as Cleveland is growing so rapidly but something to be aware of if moving in from anywhere else. read more

Worst utility company I have ever used. There is absolutely no way they have checked my meter for months. We deliberately piled dirt on top so we could tell if it had been disturbed. We had trouble even finding it the other day when we got a $38 dollar water bill!! It's been untouched for so long grass has grown on top of the dirt we put down. Really considering contacting the news about this. I don't take getting screwed lightly. read more

This is a very professional utility district. When we have an issue. They come out as soon as possible to check out the issue. And inform us what is going to happen and how long we will be out of water. The office personnel are sweet as can be. And the maintenance men are very intelligent and nice. They always answer my questions. When they fix a main leak they get it on as soon as possible and we are never out of water for long. Even when we call after hours for a problem and it goes to the answering service. They always call back immediately and figure out the issue. I would recommend living in their service area because it is the highest quality water around. read more

Honestly, i hate writing poor reviews, but the employee named Nikki (self-claimed acting manager) showed me the lowest level of leadership i have ever witnessed. I was treated solely as a number in their database, hung up on, ridiculed, and refused assistance. Nikki also stated that any and all late fees cannot be waived, even for first time issues. She proudly mentioned to me today that her company LOST AROUND 64 CUSTOMERS due to this policy and they couldn't help any of us because they're NOT ALLOWED to help any customers, no matter the circumstances. Their board made the decision apparently, but they don't tell you that you can go to the monthly board meetings held at their office on the 3rd Wed of each month. You can bring your complaint to the board and guess what, if you don't think their board of commissioners is treating you fairly, you can appeal it to the Utility Management Review Board afterwards. Im truly ashamed to give this company my hard earned money when they trump a 200% fee on customer bills, then throw their hands up and remind you that you signed your rights away on a form when you setup your service. I cannot speak for every employee, but Nikki has failed the rest by her poor example of leadership and complete lack of care for customer retention. read more

Every January my bill triples so they can cover their estimated profits shortfall. I was in my house only 8 days for the entire month prior to the large bill, but my bill soared over 3 times as much as normal. When I try to get an answer as to why, the manager just says that it was the coldest month of the year (same answer every year and doesn't matter if you're not there to use electricity) and that, if I don't like it, they will be happy to turn off my electricity. Some way to treat a customer!!!! They know they have you over a barrel and simply don't care that you're on a fixed income and your budget doesn't allow for THEIR shortfalls.... read more
