We stayed there this past weekend for a Saturday night. We booked online and were glad to see that…read morethe hotel was now pet friendly (they were not in the past when it was called the Riverview Inn and Suites). BUT we were not expecting to be greeted, upon opening the door, by a pitbull and black lab (unleashed, uncollared)! A group of hotel visitors was sitting at the the tables in the kitchenette directly across from the check-in desk. They quickly called the dogs, but they remained loose. After unloading our things through a side door, we decided to get something to eat. We left our room with our dog leashed and within 3 feet of us. As we walked down the hallway to exit the side door (to avoid roaming dogs) the pitbull came running down the hallway with no one trailing it. We were unable to leave through the door in fear of the pitbull getting out the door as we opened it. I began walking back toward the desk to find an owner with the dog following me. Finally a woman, whom I assume, could see some fear and frustration in my face, said it wasn't her dog but she would take it. Finally, we could leave. Our stay was NOT the ideal get-away we had hoped for, as I have a fear of strange dogs, especially those roaming freely. We did not swim, as we would have had to walk past the roaming dogs to get to the pool. I am all for pet friendly establishments, but feel the pets should be on leashes and within a few feet of the owner. I would expect the owners to be concerned about possible liabilities with free roaming dogs. I would expect the owners to enforce that dogs need to be leashed in common areas (hallways, lobby, kitchette, etc) The three stars are for the very friendly, and kind woman who checked us in at the desk- not sure of her name, but had blonde hair. And, for the cleanliness of the hotel room (although, are these free roaming dogs also urinating in the hallways while no one is attending to them?- yuck!).

We have an emailed quote for two nights reservations at $89/night, made back in June. We flew…read moreacross the country for a wedding and when we arrived were told that was incorrect and it was $120/night instead. I've never had a motel not honor a quote that came from them directly. I showed them the email but it didn't matter. He told me I was welcome to cancel if we wanted which of course at 9:30pm at night I can't do. Unbelievable, a 33% rate hike after being fully committed with no warning. I plan to complain to their corporation. On top of that, the accomodations are mediocre. The breakfast area had absolutely minimal offerings, the beds were hard and uncomfortable, the bathroom lacked sufficient lighting, the towels were paper thin, the in-roon refrigerator buzzed all night long. It wasn't worth $89 yet alone $120

I think someone was murdered in this room. The carpet is absolutely disgusting. They were not able…read moreto get me a different room. I told them I guess I'll just have to leave my shoes on.

Booked this hotel strictly based on location--it was super close to my work destination. Would I…read morestay here again? Maybe for a great price. While my room was clean, it had a funny smell. The moment I opened the door I was greeted with a musty, moist scent. Now, I travel with room spray in case something like this happens, but it gets you worried about mold. I noticed that the air unit hadn't been on, so maybe that was the deal? I had to call down to the front desk just to check the time. The clock in my room was an hour behind, and I honestly thought I might have crossed into another time zone. Can it actually be that the room hadn't been used since daylight savings? Hm...Maybe everyone uses their cellphone now. Breakfast was a bust. It was crazy packed at a quarter to nine, so I had to shuffle out into the lobby with my plate. The ginormous vat of oatmeal was a no go, having been reduced to a congealed layer. Cereal then? Maybe not-- there was about a half inch of milk sitting out in a carton on the counter. It was nice that they offered french toast and bacon in addition to the standard waffle-matic machine. Breakfast potatoes too, which were(of course ) empty. Free wi-fi, coffee and tea in the lobby. I would probably try a different hotel if I had to stay again, but all in all, nothing was bad.

This place is right on the water and just a little bit away from it all, yet still close enough to…read moredowntown Sturgeon Bay so you're a short drive away. Our room had everything we needed: a kitchen with all included dishware, paper towels, coffee filters, etc., a nice updated shower with good water pressure, a fold out couch/sofabed (which we used, so it was definitely a necessity!), flat screen smart TVs with all the hookups for your apple TV etc if you choose to bring it (this is a must for us in the evenings since we like to watch our shows and chill out before bed) and a balcony with table & chairs to sit outside and enjoy the view. Our room was a bit humid - since we had the wall unit A/C and a fan in the main bedroom it never fully cooled down to where we would have liked it, but it was tolerable (we were out and about so much during our time in Door County, so we really weren't at the resort too much except to sleep!). I maybe heard a small amount of hall noise here and there but very rare (we were on the third floor). I never heard any of our neighboring units, so that was a big plus. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. We used the washer/dryer and ice machine, as well as took advantage of the free coffee (delicious!). We also needed to print a couple of documents and were able to do that on a computer near the front desk on the second floor. We did not use the pool facilities, but both the indoor and outdoor pool looked very clean and many people were using both daily. The housekeeping is a bit unique in that can specify if you would like someone to enter your suite to clean/empty trash, replace towels, etc. or if you would just like replacement items (if this is the case you can fill out a dry erase form and place it outside your suite).
