Not only in terms of grades and ACT scores but how they treat each of their students as family. The tutors are amazing at what they do and make sure the students really understand the material. As a dual-credit student I took some challenging college classes and they taught me better than some seasoned professors. Mr. Alan personally meets with all his students and takes interest in what their goals are- be it college choice, grades, or SAT test scores- and helps make it happen. He makes sure they are pushed to excel in the areas they need to be, not just sit and breeze by the work. I'm very thankful for the experience I had here and I wish all of them well.

I started running on pavement...didn't know anything different. Didn't realize that running on a track feels so much better on the knees and joints. Plus, it's way easier to do speed work on a track that's already all marked out. The only downsides: there's no water. You HAVE to bring your own hydration. Which really isn't that big of a deal. I mean, what runner doesn't have a camelbak, or a hydration belt, or at least a water bottle? The bigger thing is no bathrooms. I have seen the bathrooms at the track open exactly once, so unless they open them when school starts, do not count on there being anyplace to go! There have been days where there are groups using the track (school athletic groups, I think), so you just have to play nice and give them room. There really is plenty of room, you just have to be aware of what people are doing around you. I love this option to work on my speedwork; it feels better om my legs, plus there's bleachers if you want to incorporate some bleacher work into your running routine as well. Come on out on Tuesdays at 7 pm and see me and my running peeps! We will be there!!

My in-laws who have a pool keep him during the week. I confidently feel like if the worst happened and he was able to get outside and in the pool he would survive and that's worth every penny. It also seems like it's been a great way to boost intelligence through routine physical activity. I struggled with transferring credits, and my grades slipped as I could not catch up despite asking for help and going to tutorials. As I was playing catch up, completely overwhelmed, the college counselor disregarded me and told me maybe college just isn't for me, and wouldn't help me. My mom is from Germany and my dad went into the army at 17 so neither were able to help me, so it was detrimental when I didn't receive actual counsel from my school. I was personally bullied by the MCJROTC teacher due to being the child of an army vet. The teacher told my mom that maybe if she'd buy her lunch, I'd get more benefits in class, at which point I was removed from JROTC. And even more alarmingly, there have been sexual assaults throughout the years, including last year, that the school has relentlessly swept under the rug. This being actual rapes that are not being pursued with legal action by campus police, but rather victim blaming after full blown rape, and simple 3 day suspension of the rapist being the only action taken. This is not the only time this has happened and there have been numerous teachers throughout this district that have had relations with minors. I am appalled by the schools actions in academics, student/teacher and student/student interaction, and even legal situations like the rape of a special needs student. Something has to change, this is not a safe place for learning or even being.
