Their private cooking lesson was wonderful!…read more ...I confess: I am a bit OCD and as the daugher of a master chef, am not a big fan of "cooking lessons"...particularly in someone's home. But, recently I was in Galveston for a meeting and was told a Cooking Lesson would be our entertainment...determined to be a team player, I prepared for...at best...a mediocre evening. Armed with a bit of Hager 1 Vodka (to calm my nerves), I trooped out to Tiki Island resigned to simply get through it...however, I was TOTALLY surprised! The chef's home is chic, yet adorably comfortable...and would meet anyone's exacting standards for cleanliness. Linda (our host) has wonderful decorating taste, and her home if filled with all of these exceptional items from her world travels - No! We are not friends! She and Laura (the Chef) are just that warm and friendly...that by the time we left, it was as if we'd spent the evening with a BFF. We had a marvelous time! ...and I did not need the vodka to do so... Linda, Alicia (Kitchen Chick) and Laura (Authentic Italian Chef) were a bundle of energetic laughter ...we made Gnoochi from scratch, Meatballs in Red Sauce...and the most divine Spinach Salad ...well, I say, "we made" but in honesty, we mostly nibbled and sipped wine! The food was divine! ...the Gnoochi was perfectly light and airy, and my friend ate the red sauce as if it were ice cream! Speaking of sweets, the Panna Cotta was TO DIE FOR! We left with full tummies, a souvenir recipe book...and after a trivia contest, re: Italian food...my team had their first place Wooden Spoon trophies! DEFINITELY something I would love love to do again!

Came here with a group of 7 UTMB medical students as a social outing for a scholars program. Amy,…read morethe owner, immediately greeted us and was accommodating when some of our classmates flaked (Gen Z, am I right?). We decided to do the medium-sized glass bowls and had a blast. We sat at a long table that could seat at least 10 as we chose our different colors and cuts. Two other large groups were in the studio and even added to the lively ambiance. Amy walked us through the process and then checked on us intermittently to make sure the process was going okay. We had a lot of fun doing something crafty with each other and I would highly recommend it for a work outing or large group social. My only regret is not getting a beer or two while we had the chance! Didn't realize until late that they offered drinks as well. My bowl was ready a few weeks after. And yes, I know it looks like a Turkey.

After our experience, I chose to reach out privately by email rather than just leaving a negative review. My goal wasn't to complain I genuinely hoped the feedback would help improve the experience for future families and visitors. Unfortunately, I never received any response or acknowledgment. What disappointed me most wasn't even the original visit it was realizing afterward that there didn't seem to be any interest in hearing customer feedback. A simple reply, acknowledgment, explanation, or even "thank you for taking the time to share this" would have gone a long way. I understand businesses get busy and not every message can result in a full resolution, but being completely ignored after taking the time to provide detailed, respectful feedback reinforced the same feeling we had during our visit: that customers were more of an afterthought than a priority. I still think the space itself has a lot of potential, which is why I reached out privately first. I just wish the customer experience had matched it.

I rarely write reviews, but I was so overwhelmed by the caliber of this business that I felt…read morecompelled to share my experience. I am a nurse and needed my BLS/CPR for HCP's updated and that is one of the services offered here. I have been through this same class (in different cities) 4 times over the last several years and each time I left thinking "If a situation arises where someone needs CPR, I won't do it".. I thought this because after the classes I still didn't feel like I was competent to perform CPR. That changed recently when I went in for a CPR skills session at Gulf Coast Emergency Response Training. First off, the owner, Tammy, scheduled me within a day of my contacting them and she performed my skills session one-on-one herself. She taught me things that I never was taught in all the previous CPR classes. The price was unbelievably low - $25. And what about the equipment! Brand new, CLEAN, mannequins that were electronic and had little lights on the shoulders. If you were performing the chest compressions correctly, you would get 3 green lights... if you were not, they were red. They also had AED's (defibrillators) that were just like the real thing. Previous classes I had taken didn't even have AED's, and the mannequins were dirty and scary looking. Bottom line is this: Because of the outstanding training I got from this place and Tammy in particular, I now feel competent to give CPR when the need arises, on adults, children, and even infants! And that is the whole goal of being CPR certified.
