I shared that our son has dyslexia and is a bit behind in reading, but that we were fully willing to support him, including having him repeat 3rd grade if necessary to help him succeed academically. Instead of discussing possible solutions or support options, we were repeatedly told that transitioning from 2nd to 3rd grade would be "impossible" and that it would require "sooooo much work at home." The conversation felt extremely discouraging and came across as condescending, as though assumptions were being made about our willingness or ability as parents to help our child. As parents of a child with a learning difference, we were hoping for understanding, encouragement, and a collaborative approach. Sadly, that was not the experience we had. Every child deserves to be seen for their potential, not immediately dismissed because they may need extra support.

I escalated the issue to the head of the school and still got no meaningful reply. Trying to be proactive, I paid my own expenses to attend an athletic event where the school was participating after being encouraged by another coach in the same league. When I introduced myself and explained that I had been trying to reach out, the coach told me, verbatim: "The reason I didn't respond was because I thought you were just fishing around looking for a handout." That statement, combined with the complete lack of communication and a dismissive, unprofessional interaction from senior Human Resources, says everything about how this school operates. If you expect basic professionalism, responsiveness, or respect, you will not find it here.

Not only in terms of grades and ACT scores but how they treat each of their students as family. The tutors are amazing at what they do and make sure the students really understand the material. As a dual-credit student I took some challenging college classes and they taught me better than some seasoned professors. Mr. Alan personally meets with all his students and takes interest in what their goals are- be it college choice, grades, or SAT test scores- and helps make it happen. He makes sure they are pushed to excel in the areas they need to be, not just sit and breeze by the work. I'm very thankful for the experience I had here and I wish all of them well.

Our child has gone here for almost a year and the change in him is nothing short of amazing. He has Classic Autism and his interaction both at home and at school has greatly improved. All the therapy in the world could never amount to the gains we've seen in the past year at TMA. And he's on his own pace, education wise, so he's not 'left behind' or 'way ahead' of other children. And the list goes on... The school caters most to freshmen as you can as if you were a transfer student, you could only transfer in 24 credits and most of them have to be liberal arts, no sciences. Yippee!! Also, the campus is dull, tiny, and looks and feels raggedy. I'm sure Raggedy Ann and Andy would love to call this their new home. No greenery, scenery, or beautiful art nor architecture. Just construction and Galveston beach. This university is home to more male residents than females. The same traditions they hold high at TA&M main is the exact same as this location and they claim the Corpus Christi, Commerce, West Texas, Kingsville, Prairie View, Tarleton, Central Texas, and etc isn't the same. Even the games, all that the same. Well, maybe not you may get more diversity in the student body than at the main campus. The campus tour was average Abe, I wouldn't wanna tour it anymore. As the building looked dull and lifeless. With tuition being so high, the least they can do is make the campus look more attractive. Even the visitor centre looked and felt dirty, old, and antiquity. Our tour guide was average, even though he was a senior he acted as if he didn't know much about the campus. Lots of uhs and asked a question. Oh yeah, this is strictly a dry campus. No one can have alcohol, not even if you are above the drinking age and not freshmen. I'm so glad I'm not into living the Aggie's dream in order survive on this earth.

Mrs Candace has a way of making it fun. It's hard work but she was very kind and patient, and my son actually started asking for swimming lessons and her on days we wouldn't be scheduled. My in-laws who have a pool keep him during the week. I confidently feel like if the worst happened and he was able to get outside and in the pool he would survive and that's worth every penny. It also seems like it's been a great way to boost intelligence through routine physical activity. Edited to say we after the initial course in April we did the maintenance lessons in October and in the following April the four week refresher and now as we are approaching summer my almost 3 year old is swimming from one side of the pool to the other multiple times. I'm a former student that transferred in during my junior year and have witnessed and experienced…read morenumerous alarming situations. I struggled with transferring credits, and my grades slipped as I could not catch up despite asking for help and going to tutorials. As I was playing catch up, completely overwhelmed, the college counselor disregarded me and told me maybe college just isn't for me, and wouldn't help me. My mom is from Germany and my dad went into the army at 17 so neither were able to help me, so it was detrimental when I didn't receive actual counsel from my school. I was personally bullied by the MCJROTC teacher due to being the child of an army vet. The teacher told my mom that maybe if she'd buy her lunch, I'd get more benefits in class, at which point I was removed from JROTC. And even more alarmingly, there have been sexual assaults throughout the years, including last year, that the school has relentlessly swept under the rug. This being actual rapes that are not being pursued with legal action by campus police, but rather victim blaming after full blown rape, and simple 3 day suspension of the rapist being the only action taken. This is not the only time this has happened and there have been numerous teachers throughout this district that have had relations with minors. I am appalled by the schools actions in academics, student/teacher and student/student interaction, and even legal situations like the rape of a special needs student. Something has to change, this is not a safe place for learning or even being.
