Typically don't leave bad reviews but I've now been treated like I was a burden to the owner of this store on multiple occasions. Today I called multiple times and got either a busy signal or no answer. I was calling because I live 40 minutes away and wanted to know if they had the fish I wanted in stock. I finally got through this afternoon and asked if they had the particular fish. She repeated the name of the fish and said I don't think I have those in stock. I told her thank you and was about to hang up, but heard another employee in the background say that they did have some in stock so she said yeah, we have a few. This is a schooling fish so I needed to know if a few meant 3 or 8. By her reaction she was obviously exasperated that she had to go look. She put me on hold, came back and to told me they had 5 or 6. I asked the price and thought that would be that, but she responded with "I don't know. We are really busy and helping customers in the store so call back later and maybe someone can help you". I hung up thinking, no ma'am, I won't be calling back because I'm not going to support a store that treats their customers like it's a burden to help them. read more

I've been going to this store for the past 5 years. Get my maintenance water and other needs there. Also purchase livestock and food for my tanks. Off The Hook maintence dept has always sent very personable, knowledgeable guys to clean my 30 gallon display tank. Our newest maintenance guy, Chris, is doing a great job in maintaining my tank. He tests, cleans, and discusses my tank needs whenever he comes. My husband and I enjoy chatting with him for he is a respectful and friendly young man. Good selection of freshwater fish. They keep their Facebook well updated which I appreciate. Staff was decently friendly, prices were fair.

Came back in when I found out they had expanded to fresh water fish. The hard scape was limited, but what they had was exactly what I was looking for (just not enough). I was asked several times if I needed help which I declined. I found the pricing to be reasonable for freshwater fish and equipment. Quarter sized angels (freshwater) sold for around 5 dollars here and around 10-12 down the street. They had just got a shipment In and had I think 6-7 in tank. Had all the standard fish with a few surprises mixed in. If I had to say anything negative the plant section was a little discombobulated. Overall good store and I'll give them my business for the endless amount of things I buy for my aquarium. Oh there was breeding activity in some of the tanks so that speaks well of the water quality. read more

I was so impressed with the service I received on my first trip to Off the Hook. Sam went above and beyond in helping me understand how much the hobby has changed and grown since my first reef tank. He answered all my questions and was so knowledge! I feel like I could walk in there any day and get help if I needed it, no purchase necessary! Sam is Great! The owner is at minimum rude!!! I have had more than one experience where she has been rude to me. It started months ago when I was wanting to set up a tank with a sump. I was asking questions about how I needed to do it and Sam was helpful and really answered my questions. I called one day and asked them if they could set up the sump for me. Someone took my name and number and never got back with me. I eventually went to the store and started asking more questions, she proceeds to say "Why so you can go buy everything on amazon?" Then she gives me more attitude after I told her I called and left a message. She took my info again and SHE didn't get back to me. I hadn't bought one thing off line, because I preferred to be hands on. I was actually trying to see if it was something that I wanted to spend my money on. I already had a tank setup with HOB equipment. I wanted something nicer and I wanted to say I did it myself. After that encounter, I said that I wasn't going to come back to her store. Why would I spend my money somewhere where I get attitude. Well months later after hours of YouTube videos and online purchases later (thank you for the idea!!) I got my 75 gallon setup and sump put together by myself....plumbing and all! So I gave her the benefit of the doubt...MISTAKE! Now that I have a bigger tank, I wanted to add more livestock and coral. Today I proceed to drive the 45 minutes it takes for me to get to Peachtree City. I'm waiting outside for my turn, thanks covid! I go in and start picking out items. Sam is great he's answering my questions about placement and flow on the coral I wanted. She comes in and asks me am I still shopping? I kindly said yes! Mind you Sam is bagging some of my items! She asks me again with a look and ATTITUDE. "You still shopping" I said yes. She pulls Sam to the side and he comes back and pretty much rushes me off. I've been slowing added livestock to my tank. Two weeks ago I bought 100 worth of fish and food from there (we weren't allowed to go in then) Last week I spent 150 on coral in Columbus. I planned on spending around the same today. I wanted so badly to tell Sam to put the *%&$ back but he went through the effort and I really like Sam. I have spent well over a thousand in her store within the past 365 days. I spent 300 on Black Friday alone. I will drive 1hr 30 mins to Atlanta before I spend another dime in that store! Her attitude SUCKS all the way around! Since I was left to find info for myself: Go to YouTube and find brstv 52 weeks of reefing. That's where I learned about setting up a new tank! I also learned how to make my own mixing station so I don't have to buy water from them either!!! I have been to a dozen Atlanta area reef and saltwater retailers over the last 12 years. I have driven 60 miles for great reasons, and now I only have to drive only 2 miles. I have purchased 4 frags (stony and softies), 2 fish, a cleaner shrimp, many snails and crabs, and somewhere around 5 to 7 pounds of live rock. I do plan on purchasing my RODI water from here for my future water topoffs. I do think I'll take my purchases here for all livestock. You simply can't beat the prices. I have only had to wait for help twice, but I noticed that was because the staff was educating potential buyers on the involvement of this hobby. We're not growing tomatoes! If you are new to this hobby, reefing is not as simple as cutting on a light, the staff seemed to explain this in detail. I love this little shop and will continue to purchase exclusively. read more

I give this store zero stars! I am extremely upset with the service we received. These people only want to get your money! Buyers beware! These people are trying to get over on people. We wanted to try them out being that they were much closer to our home. To make a long story short the owner misinformed us on the fish we bought purposely just so we would spend money. We will continue to drive the hour distance to our regular store where the people are HONEST and will happily refund you if ANYTHING goes wrong with ANY kind of purchase you make. We spend a lot of money WEEKLY on fish, corals, etc so it is only this stores loss because if we would have at least received better customer service we would have continued to shop here. Went in to this store today with my family to check it out. We were not greeted with a "hello, can we help?" The owners were busy doing something behind the register. The kid in the back who was cleaning the tanks smiled and said hi. As we slowly walked out of the store, there was no "thanks for coming in." As a matter of fact, they never made any eye contact with us or attempted to find out if we needed anything. It was complete silence! I usually do not write negative reviews, but this was embarrassing! We'll find our "Marine Fish" needs fulfilled elsewhere! read more
